1976 International Scout Traveler V8 4x4 Convertible
Very Rare Traveler up for auction. These longer wheelbase Scouts (118") rarely come up on ebay and there is currently a restored Traveler that is listed for $29k. The Traveler was the only produced between 1976 and 1980 and was the only International model to win the prestigious 4x4 of the year award. Not only are the very stable on the trail but the top comes off and makes one of the coolest convertible trucks around. International only produced ~31k models in 1976 but most of those we're the smaller Scout II's.
This is a very nice Traveler. I’ve had many in the past and this is the nicest Traveler I’ve owned. It has a 345 with a new 4bbl Edelbrock carb. 727 automatic tranny shifts firm and works great. The 4x4 works great. Brakes are in perfect condition with a new master cylinder and new stainless extended brake lines. It starts and runs great! New battery and new power steering pump. The odometer shows 35k but think it’s probably rolled over once. All mechanicals work great. It has factory AC and the top has never been off! The paint is very good and the original color with only minimal rust bubbles beginning to show on the lower rockers but not bad at all. I have a color matched Scout tailgate that will go with the sale and is a nice feature when and if the top ever comes off. Floors are solid, cargo area solid, fenders are solid and body mounts are all solid. Recently lifted 4" with a Rough Country lift. Brand new 33" Yokohama AT's. New custom built steering box from well known shop in Scottsdale called Benchworks who specialize in Scout gear boxes. The interior is in great shape. The carpet is showing wear but original. The dash is not cracked…which is a bonus. The seats are very nice with no tears or rips front and back. The Traveler is very road worthy and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. As a matter of fact, I just returned from a spring brake road trip and it ran perfect and drew attention when ever we stopped. I'm not in any hurry to sell and if if doesn't sell I will happily keep. Happy bidding and feel free to contact me with any questions.
