1973 International Scout II

Custom built 4x4, crawler, mud, sand, made to do well anywhere you take it. Simple tough build over the past 14 or so years.

Here is a quick rundown of the goods.

Ford 351 windsor, .060 over, turned crank, decent pistons, 9.5:1, cast gt40 heads, edelbrock intake, ford shorty headers, Holley fuel injection. Rebuilt about five years ago, but maybe has 1,000 miles on it.

Ford NP435 four speed, adapted to a dana 20 t case. twin sticked, front only high or low, rear only high or low or 4x4 in high or low. hydraulic clutch.

full hydraulic steering with quick release steering wheel and cooler

m715 axles, front is a closed knuckle dana 60, rear is a dana 70, both welded and have 5.87:1 gears.

tires are 42" TSL's have weather cracks, but still have tons of tread left

lift is skyjacker 4" springs with the axles under the springs. front is shackle reversal from ih only north. wheelbase is extended about 3.5 inches.

has tons of custom cage work all tied to the frame. rear is narrowed and quarter skins are removable. has storage box in back too.

has steel 1/2 cab which are very hard to find anymore. also has doors. driver door hinges are saggy, but it does work.

interior is pretty sparce. seats are leather from an eclipse, i think, but are pretty worn out. still comfortable, just split in a few places. 4 pt harnesses. has headlights and tail lights, no turn signals since i took the steering column out and replaced it with the hydraulic steering. has a tach, temp gage, and thats about it. speedo would need a cable, but is covered with tubing, alt. gage works. floors, outer rockers and inner rockers have all been replaced. there is basically no rust to speak of on this scout. fully boxed frame from the factory! nothing hangs below the frame (t case or trans) which is awesome compared to stock jeeps.

this is a proven scout and has been all over colorado and moab. im only selling it because i got a new jeep that holds more people. i have more money into the engine rebuild and fuel injection than what my reserve price is.

front drive shaft is out right now. the cv joint could use rebuilt. has a slight drip out of front output on transfer case. its a good time to replace the seal since the shaft is already out. one valve cover gasket seeps a little, hasnt bothered me.

it drives pretty good at 55. depending on where you live it is kinda street legal. i have plates on it and cruise it around town for fun. im sure im forgetting a lot, so dont hesitate to call. it is listed for sale locally so i reserve the right to end the aution at any time. thanks for your interest.

a couple things i noticed in the pics. 1 the front tubular bumper is no longer on the scout. 2 the pics with the poly fuel cell are accurate. the older pics had an aluminum cell in it. i took it out because it was a bad design for crawling.

also this thing ramps about 900 on a 20 degree ramp.
