I purchased this scout a stock unit and then did a complete transformation on it. I'm sure I will forget many items so please ask.

I started with the rear-end adding a Detroit locker and new gears 3.73 then a perch flip for lift and disk brakes for the rear. I purchased a NOS front axle from the dealer in Portland with the correct gears and giving it disk brakes for the front. With a new booster and master the scout was now equipped with a nice set of brakes. When installing the front axle I did a shackle reversal and added ranchero springs. As you can see for a scout its a bit of lift but given that the scouts start out so low it's really not outrageous. The Scout sits on 33x12.50x15 traction tires and the ride height is just right.

The engine I thought was in good shape just some oil leaks but when I went to replace the oil pan gasket I found bearing material. After inspecting the rods and mains and finding them in good shape I knew the engine was going to get pulled and rebuild as the only other place the material could come from was the cam bearings. The block, crank and rods went to the machine shop for all the usual work. Bored 30 over ported heads, rv2 cam high volume oil pump fel-pro gaskets and all the other usual items. Added a 4brl manifold and carb.

While the engine was at the machine shop I pulled the trans and had it rebuilt with a trans-go shift kit and converter. I have removed the single speed transfer case and replaced it with a dana 20 that was rebuild just before installing it.

With the engine in I had an all new drive train and it was great....but I had better ideas. There was a short run of aluminum 4 brl intakes made a few years back and I managed to purchase one new and it sure beats lifting the stock one. I also got the bright idea of adding fuel injection. Thanks to Affordable Fuel Injection the Scout starts without having to chock it or pump it. Best of all no flooding out on a steep hill!!! Its just so much better than a carb. The kit also included updating the ignition system to an  electronic system giving out a hotter spark. All in all better performance and less maintenance.

As for the paint much of it is original. I think its cool to find something this old still sporting its original finish. Sadly I did need to paint some parts. The tail gate had a dent in it, the roof and windshield frame had slight rust starting to form under the glass gaskets and the left front fender had a CB hole cut in it. The hole was repaired, the rust under the gaskets removed and the dent repaired. Then the parts were painted in the original color. I added a custom front bumper, lights and a 9k lb superwench that has never been used. Truth is after this much work I'm to chicken to take it where I would need the wench.

As to the interior the floor is sprayed with bed liner. There is a roll cage system with cb bars and cross bars that keep the front seats off the ground. This makes for easy clean up should you need to wash out the mud and it's goal is to keep the seats inside the roll cage should you find yourself in a bad situation. Also this unit is plated from the dash to the floor where it is bolted to the frame, the cage it fully welded. By having it plated you don't have those post that everyone smacks their knees on. Look at the photo of the passenger side where the fire extinguisher is mounted. 4 point seat belts.

I'm sure I missed many bits of info so please ask I have been top to bottom of this Scout. Apx. 5k on rebuilt drive train, miles unknown for body.
