1972 International Harvester Scout Ii on 2040-cars
Bellevue, Nebraska, United States
1972 International Harvester Scout II, 4WD, 3 speed Auto Trans (rebuilt by AAMCO in last 1,000 miles), PS, PB (new brake shoes and master cyl in last 3 yrs), practically new Bridgestone Dueler AT 31x10.50x15 tires (new full-size spare on matching rim), Centerline Custom Chrome Rims, Rancho Shocks and Steering Stabilizer, 2" Body Lift, Original AM Radio, Locking Center Console (with stereo/CD Changer slot), Chrome Brush Guard with KC Day Lighters, Original Scout Roof Rack, IH Locking Hubs, Interior Line-X Coated in Green Pebble Finish. Hitch Receiver, HD Rear Step Bumper. This classic Scout runs great, drives great, everything works: Transfer Case/Locking Hubs/all lights/gauges/wipers and washer motor/heater/radio/locks/handles/latches/switches, and NOT the typical rusted out Scout. I have owned it for 3 years and only drive it in good weather (no snow/road salt) to/from work - about 3 miles a week, for half of the year. Body is solid (few dings, minor dents, rock chips, etc), pans and panels are solid, bed is solid, roof is solid, all door/window rubber seals are new, doors are great inside and out, seats are like new, interior is Line-X Coated in green, vehicle is under coated, tail gate and rear window opens/closes solid. Engine runs strong - after 1hr of driving the oil pressure gauge at idle is above 1/4, at 60mph its just above 1/2. Gets about 12mpg - a true "economy car" back in 1972. What needs fixing: dash pad is cracked from sun, engine doesn't burn oil, but it leaks a little oil (valley pan seal, valve covers - what IH engine doesn't leak?) - replace rear side window felt track inserts, maybe replace manifold/2 barrel carb with high rise and 4 barrel carb? Otherwise she runs and drives great, so just cosmetic or customization fixes really. This Scout spent its entire life in the very dry Southern Idaho climate before I brought it to Nebraska in 2011, garaged ever since. I'm in the military and PCSing overseas - only reason I'm selling.
