1968 International Scout 800 4x4 V8 Convertible (arizona Barn Find) on 2040-cars
Buckeye, Arizona, United States
1968 International Scout 800 (ARIZONA BARN FIND) V8/4-Speed/Convertible Attention Binder enthusiasts-If you've done your research than you know that these 800's are truly the Scout to have especially when they have the sought after V8! This is the Scout that the early Bronco's wished we're never born! The 800's we're the true SUV that started it all and others tried to copy. The majority of these baby Scout were the 4 cylinder model and although they we're great off-road vehicles, they were severely underpowered and tough to drive on today's modern roads and highways. This 1968 is the one to have! Not only is it the most desirable year and best looking model, but it's the super rare "V" model with a 266 cubic inch V8 with "All Wheel Drive". If your lucky enough to find one of these, they will probably be coupled with a manual trans...which this one has a 4 speed! This particular 800 was located up in the Arizona mountains and looks to be a past government vehicle because both doors are marked "For Official Use Only". It has been sitting for many years but is in remarkable shape. This Scout is about 80% rust free and there really is only a couple areas that I've found that have minor rust The passenger floor board should probably be replaced and the only other area is the bottom driver side lower quarter (see pic) but it's not too bad. The cargo area, fender wells, other rockers, window posts, cowl and body mounts are rust free and very solid. The body is very straight with no dents or damage anywhere. The doors and hood all fit great. Just the IH badging alone is worth a small fortune...It would be an easy candidate for a great paint job. There is no interior and it has no glass on the topper side and rear but the topper is in great shape otherwise, without holes or rust issues. The dash is complete and intact including the original IH steering wheel. The motor...well it's the original 266 that came with it but would obviously need to be gone through as this Scout is not running but rolls fine for transport. Running gear is complete with differential and exhaust-all in tact. Front and rear bumpers in great shape. Another rare feature is that this Scout originally had A/C and the in-dash unit is still there (in tact) but no compressor under the hood. A line ticket would verify options but not available atm but the future owner can easily order one. Check out the prices of what the early Bronco's are pulling and you'll be confident that this 800 is prime candidate for a restoration . This is the way you want to find them and it makes it totally rewarding when you finish a project like this and trust me, it'll be worth every penny and a great investment. Being sold at no reserve and I know I probably kick myself for selling this so, no big deal if it doesn't sell because I will keep, restore and then relist for a lot more than what is being asked for in this listing! Clean Arizona title and in hand. Happy Bidding. |
