1968 International Harvester Scout 800 V8 With Plow on 2040-cars
Year:1968
Mileage:44000
Location:
West Suffield, Connecticut, United States
I use this on my farm for plowing mainly and primarily sits around 10 months of the year. Its not presently road worthy and would need trailer to get home. There are no rear lights connected up. Frame is solid. Rear body is perfect out of California, Front end panels good with some dings, under panels were rotted out in front so I fabricated out of metal, protects the engine, works just fine. Doors are ok, not super great and the body because of the way I married the back end to the front end is a little off so doors don't close perfect at all. Its a frankenstein kind of vehicle and its loaded with new parts. I have brand new tires (over $1000), studded, rims are rust free and in perfect shape. New aluminum radiator, new carburetor, new floors in front, side panels underneath doors, bucket seats are great, new gas caps, new connector hoses to both gas tanks, lots of parts ordered from IH parts in OHIO.
Front lights work, have rear switched lights working off bumper, some of the gauges work, some don't, gas gauge not hooked up. Truck always starts, has new battery, runs a little rough and probably could use tune up, little bit of leaks, but again, its not a show car, its a beast and works for plowing. New parts on the plow too, all new cylinders, and control unit inside cab. I literally have probably $5K in parts in this thing just to bring it back to working condition recently. I bought it about5 years ago in upstate NY and it was in rough shape. Engine started right up though, can't guarantee the milage but I think its original as I got this off an old timer that had it since new, was always used on a farm. So this truck would make a great parts truck for someone who has another Scout 80, 800, or simply put it to work plowing. Someone who is handy could probably get this thing road worthy and make a fun project. out of it. I tore this down to the frame at one point and put together with ordered parts from all over the county. Frame was solid as can be. Got the rear out of california as the original rear was rotted and you can see in the pics there is literally no rust at all. I am probably leaving some details out here but you can gather what this is by looking at it in the pictures, a real farm truck. Getting rid of simply cause its sits around and I am getting rid of a few toys. call me if any questions at 860-614-0675. I am listing out some other parts for Scout that I have, a Scout 80 full front bench, a Scout 80/800 rear seat, a Scout 80 set of 5 hubcaps and one extra rim. Also a really nice Scout 80/800 half top. Check out my other auctions. Thanks. |
