This is a 1966/first sold 1967 International Harvester Scout, All Wheel Drive/4x4, 152 c.i. slant 4 engine, three speed transmission with twin-stick transfer case. I bought this and reconditioned it to use around my property, but it turned out nicer than I anticipated and am selling it before it gets scratched up. I have used it now for two years since I completed it. It is a reliable and peppy Scout, though it won't be the first one up long highway grades. Everything works, including the 4x4, turn signals, wipers, horn, lights, etc.
I removed the body and replaced the axles. The front axle is now a Dana 30, and the rear is a Dana 44. The bearings, brakes, and lock-out hubs were all serviced. New drive shafts and U joints to work with the replacement axles.
The body was gone through and dings/dents/rust were repaired. New paint. Bedliner/textured the pickup area and inside the floor area of the cab (white), as well as the half-cab top and lower body(tan). POR-15 on the frame. Some of the photos are right after or during recondition, and others are current photos...the older photos are obvious showing prep or recondition progress.
The cab top comes off with about 10 bolts. Fun to drive as a convertible. Rides nice.
This is a very nice Scout, and a neat little driver, with a lot of versatility. This is not a show car or professional restoration, but a carefully and thoroughly gone thru body-off frame recondition--by me. It's not perfect, as I don't claim to be a professional body/paint/mechanic, but everything was done in expectation that I would have this car for a long time. The actual mechanical work, such as lock-out hubs, brakes, differential inspections, etc., was done by an experienced mechanic. It always starts, runs and stops well, and is reliable...just a nice clean vintage scout, without all the alterations/mods of other Scouts.
I have put about 1500 miles on the vehicle since the work was done. I am located about 15 minutes north of Spokane (east side of Washington state...20 miles west of Idaho), WA. Clear title. Feel free to ask questions, or inspect the car in person.
There is no reserve, but this is a good Scout so I have put my bottom price as the starting price. $1000.00 PayPal deposit, with balance due in cash in person upon picking up of vehicle and transferring title. I suggest an inspection prior to bidding, as only misrepresentation of vehicle by me, in this listing, will release bidder of transaction. A local Spokane area branch of your bank, issuing the balance due in form of bank's check, in person, will suffice in lieu of cash. No payments via mail, etc. vintagetruck@inbox.com
