I am selling my 2001 Infiniti QX4 Luxury 2WD SUV with Premium Trim Package and just under 165K miles on the odometer. The vehicle is in great running shape, has no mechanical issues that require repair (there are a couple you may do optionally) and has been well cared for with regular oil changes and other maintenance (belts, etc.). The premium package means that, in addition to the specs for the base model, it has 17" alloy wheels, wood-tone and leather steering wheel, motorized driver's memory seat, steering wheel audio controls, two-tone paint on the exterior, and sunroof package.
There is some body damage from hitting a guard rail after hitting black ice on the highway. So, when looking at it from the passenger side it isn't as pretty but this would be a great car for a student or someone who needs something functional. The tie rod and tail light were repaired, but purely cosmetic fixes were not done (see pictures). Just to reiterate, THE CAR DRIVES JUST FINE, HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE, AND HAS CONSISTENTLY PASSED VA STATE INSPECTIONS INCLUDING EMISSIONS.
- The tires are less than 4 years old and still have plenty of life in them.
- The interior of the car features leather seats and is in very good shape considering its age - there is only one place where the wear shows on the driver's seat (see picture). With a good wash and shampoo, it'll probably look almost new.
- The front seat motor was replaced approximately 3 years ago due to a known issue (service bulletin ITB00065) with the motor in this year/make/model.
1. IF you want A/C, the compressor will need to be replaced. You could opt to get a used compressor from a reputable source to save a heap of money, but that's your call. IMHO A/C isn't necessary out here anyway.
2. IF you like a pristine windshield and cleaning the windshield at the gas station isn't enough, then the window washer reservoir will need to be replaced. My understanding is that this is neither expensive nor complex to do. I haven't done it because the windshield just doesn't get that dirty in my opinion.
3. IF you live/work somewhere that requires you to have an antenna for the radio, then you'll want to replace the antenna. I have never had an issue with reception but I've been in the cities.
4. IF you want to listen to CDs, you will have to have the CD player looked at. It was broken before I got the car and has never been an issue to me so I haven't had it looked at myself. I have an iPod/iPhone dock that plugs into the cigarette lighter and plays through the stereo so I can listen to my own music, Pandora, etc. I am willing to include the dock with the vehicle if you want it.
5. Lastly, IF you car about her looking like new then you'll want to fix the body damage on the front and rear passenger side. For me, if it doesn't effect how she runs, then I'm just not worried about it. I'd rather spend my money on travel than on making sure my car looks perfect.
If you aren't fussy about a car with some imperfections, then you'll likely be very happy with this car. I have loved it, but just don't need a car anymore. Feel free to contact me with questions or to arrange viewing the vehicle. Happy bidding!

Infiniti invites 22-year-old to work with Red Bull F1 team
Thu, Aug 27 2015Infiniti launched the Infiniti Performance Engineering Academy (IPEA) in 2014, a global talent search for three engineering students from eleven international markets that the automaker would select for a one-year assignment with its Formula One team and road car division. The second year's IPEA competition has concluded, the class of 2015 expanding to five students that get eight months at Infiniti Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes, and four months at the company's European Technical Center in Cranfield, UK. Twenty-two-year-old Alex Allmandinger (pictured), a student at the University of Illinois and one of 11 US finalists, is one of those five winners. He'll head to Milton Keynes next month to settle in with the other winners from China, Europe, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. Based on interviews with last year's winners, the IPEA doesn't stick the students in a corner, either – one of them said he had designed seventy parts that went into the RB11 F1 racecar. The video above speaks to some of this year's winners, the video below talks to last year's, and there's a press release below that. This content is hosted by a third party. Aug. 20, 2015 – Infiniti has announced that an engineering student from the University of Illinois is one of five global winners of the 2015 Infiniti Performance Engineering Academy (IPEA). For one year, Infiniti will provide 22-year-old Alex Allmandinger with the opportunity to work in Formula One with the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team. After beating 11 other finalists from around the country in an intense shootout event, Allmandinger will move to Infiniti Red Bull Racing headquarters in the UK in September to begin a 12-month placement working with the four-time Formula One World Championship Infiniti Red Bull Racing team, as well as with Infiniti. Allmandinger will spend eight months working on Vehicle Design at the team's headquarters in Milton Keynes, UK – and four months working at Infiniti's European Technical Center in Cranfield – on road car development projects. Formula One technology is more relevant to the automotive industry than ever and will play a key role in the ongoing transfer of technical knowledge and expertise between the race team and Infiniti.
2014 Infiniti Q50S
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Ten years ago, nearly to the day, I took delivery of a brand-new 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT. The sporty rear-wheel drive sedan, equipped with its throaty 260-horsepower V6, slick manual gearbox and limited-slip differential replaced my 2001 BMW 330i because the Japanese competitor touted a product that was roomier, better equipped, quicker and lower priced. The G35 trumped the German in nearly every measurable category - at least on paper.
The 2014 Infiniti Q50 is the direct descendant, albeit two generations later, of the car I owned a decade ago. It is dimensionally about the same size, but it has gained more than 300 pounds of mass thanks to numerous safety upgrades and technical innovations. The additional weight is largely dismissed by a larger and more efficient powerplant that delivers an additional 68 horsepower, a welcome arrival, but the manual gearbox that charmed enthusiasts has been pushed out of the picture by a mandatory seven-speed automatic transmission.
As it has in the past, Infiniti touts its all-new Q50 as a luxury sport sedan worthy of the title. Decades ago, impressive performance statistics may have sealed the deal. Yet there is much more to the assignment today, as the model must offer premium appointments, sophistication and engaging driving dynamics if it's going to entice and capture the next-generation of young, premium buyers - much like the G35 did for me ten years ago.
Infiniti installs Taisuke Nakamura as new design chief
Mon, Aug 26 2019The cubicles and corner offices at Infiniti HQ in Japan continue to change hands. Infiniti Global Design Chief Karim Habib, only in that position for about two years since leaving BMW in 2017, has left the Japanese luxury brand "to pursue other opportunities." In his place, Nissan has elevated Taisuke Nakamura, a 26-year company veteran who is currently Nissan's program design director responsible for global design strategy, and concept car and production vehicle design. Nakamura has a stout design resume in service to both Nissan and Infiniti, having worked on the Qs Inspiration sedan concept (above) shown at the Shanghai Motor Show in April, the QX Inspiration crossover concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show this year (below), and the Prototype 10 speedster concept revealed at Pebble Beach last year (bottom). All of those were electric concepts, making Nakamura the point man for Infiniti's push into electric vehicles and hybrids, and the carmaker's introduction of a new design language. Last year, Infiniti said it would have a new EV on the market in 2021, as well as "e-Power" series hybrids with small battery packs charged by gas-powered generators.  Those EVs should fully embody the brand's new design DNA, seen initially in the recent concepts. The automaker said around the Qs reveal that the new "aesthetics are underpinned by Infiniti's desire to challenge convention and design cars which are engaging, enriching, enabling and enchanting – what the company calls its ‘4ENÂ’ approach to design." At the QX reveal in January, Habib said that as engineers made a "shift towards smarter, more compact and less intrusive powertrains, we were able to create an alternative form with flowing gestures, more engaging in character and more enriching in experience. With its long cabin, balanced proportions and muscular stance, the concept heralds in a new era for Infiniti models.” Infiniti said Nakamura takes up his post next week, Sept. 1, and will report to the same boss he has now, Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan's global design head. Aside from Habib, other top non-Japanese Nissan executives such as Daniele Schillaci, Jose Munoz and Trevor Mann have left the Japanese automaker in the recent past, since the arrest of Carlos Ghosn. The former chairman, who faces charges of fraud and misconduct, is awaiting trial in Japan over charges including enriching himself at a cost of $5 million to Nissan, Japan's No. 2 automaker.
