2014 Infiniti Q50 sees 3,650 pre-sales ahead of Aug. 5 debut

Infiniti's answer to the hot new sports sedans from BMW, Cadillac and Lexus is creeping closer and closer to its August 5 arrival in dealerships. And while we yet can't pass judgment on the Infiniti Q50 - formerly known as G37 - 3,650 Americans are apparently ready to, as they've already raised their hands for the 2014 model.
In a pre-sale program announced at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, Infiniti gave buyers until June 30 to raise their hand for the new model. "The Infiniti Q50 pre-sale exceeded all expectations, becoming the most successful such program in Infiniti history," according to Infiniti's American Vice President Ben Poore.
A lot is expected of the Q50, available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive and with an optional hybrid powertrain. With 328 horsepower from its 3.7-liter V6 engine, Infiniti is making sure the new car packs a big punch relative to the competition. Meanwhile, the Q50 Hybrid offers fuel-sippers 360 ponies and up to 36 miles per gallon.

What happens to Renault-Nissan after Ghosn is gone?

Carlos Ghosn is a very, very busy man. Like, really busy. As in, he heads up three automakers (and their subsidiaries), running facilities in 68 countries and selling vehicles in 170 different markets across the globe. He flies over 300,000 miles per year and works 15 to 16 hours a day, just to manage an alliance between the Japanese and French that's responsible for an expected $140 billion in sales this year alone. The Chairman and CEO of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Ghosn has managed a number of remarkable feats during his time at both automakers, but there are some that are questioning how much longer the 60-year-old exec can handle the punishing nature of his responsibilities. According to Fortune, six months ago Ghosn signed a four-year contract to continue running Renault, while his tenure at Nissan will continue until at least 2017. Beyond that, though, the future is rather murky, and it's made worse by the high-level turnover that Renault-Nissan has experienced over the past few years, losing execs like Carlos Tavares, Johan de Nysschen and Andy Palmer. 2022 Infiniti QX60 gets reveal date, teases first glimpse of interior

The launch of the 2022 Infiniti QX60 has been a somewhat drawn-out affair, with a near-production concept being shown back in September. But the official reveal is now in sight: June 23 to be specific. And with this announcement comes our first brief look at the three-row luxury crossover's interior. It features the now trendy continuous air vent design, but has some interesting twists. The diamond-stitched top is unique. It looks like there may be a split, two-tone design between the driver and passenger sides like what we've seen in the QX50 and QX55. Sitting atop the dash is an infotainment screen, and behind that is an arcing piece of wood trim. We're excited about that infotainment screen. Though it doesn't look particularly fancy compared with some of the units coming from some American and German brands, it seems to be a big step up from current Infiniti systems that have used a somewhat odd and outdated dual-screen array. We're hoping for higher resolution and more modern graphics. Aside from the interior, we already know a number of things about the QX60. The concept gave us a good look at the exterior, and we know that it will use a variant of the Nissan Pathfinder's powertrain. That means a 3.5-liter V6 and a nine-speed automatic.
