1997 Infiniti I30 Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Corpus Christi, Texas, United States
Vehicle in good condition because of the body work and minor repairs needed. Ive owned this vehicle for about 5 years now, and the ONLY major problem ive ever had was having to replace the starter, which i did. For some reason the ignition wouldnt turn the starter upon replacing (we tried 2 new starters to make sure we werent using a faulty starter), so my father rigged up a push button starter somehow right under the steering column. So now to start the vehicle you need to turn the key, and then push the button and its starts up strong with NO PROBLEM AT ALL! I found out later however, that rigging up the starter somehow dis-abled my cruise control, but it worked absolutley fine before then, so im sure it's a minor fix. BOTH driver side power windows need a new window regulator, they stay up but will not power up or down at the moment, BOTH passenger side power windows work fine. RPM needle bobbles up and down for some reason, but the engine's RPMs itself do not, vehicle stays on quiet and smooth after turning on. Antenna will power all the way up, but wont go all the way down because somebody tried to bend it i guess (refer to pics). Security sytem works, but my alarm remote fell off of my keychain somewhere, it got lost. Key still locks and unlocks (arms/dis-arms) the security door locks, anti-theft, and alarm though. Driver seat is worn a it and torn at the shoulder, all the other seats are in VERY GOOD condition! The leather on the steering wheel is also worn out a bit. This car has been in a couple of minor fender benders, but it has not affected the car's performance whatsoever. It needs body work, and driver fog lights replaced (refer to pics). Front Infiniti small emblem on the chrome grill needs to be replaced. It also needs new tires, brakes, and an oil change. It has been keyed and dinged up, but besides that it runs VERY VERY VERY STRONG! Transmission DOES NOT slip at all! BOSE CD/CASSETTE/AM/FM work with no problems! Sunroof powers up/down, opens and closes like it should, NO LEAKS and HARDLY ANY RUST around the seal. AC/HEATER WORK NO PROBLEMS! This car is really a beast in my honest opinion, as far as how good it can accelerate and how strong the motor is. It honestly looked almost brand new when i bought it, but other people in my neighborhood have managed to blemish it up pretty good. When i bought it, it had approximately 98K mileage, and most of the miles have put on the car myself are highway miles, commuting back and forth about 40 min both ways daily. This car has NEVER left me stranded anywhere besides the one time i was having problems with that starter I have replaced! I cant stress enough how much this car runs like an absolute champ! I tried taking more pictures of the car's faults than anything else, as i want to be absolutely honest about this sale, just as much as all my others! I know how sketchy a person can feel when buying a used vehicle, but i assure you, this car aims to please! PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS VEHICLE! VEHICLE IS SOLD AS-IS, BUT PLEASE BID WITH CONFIDENCE, IF YOU NEED A STRONG, GREAT RUNNING CAR, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Infiniti Prototype 9 is a wonderfully beautiful EV grand prix car
Sat, Aug 12 2017Few automobiles are as elegantly beautiful as the open-wheel grand prix cars of the 1940s, '50s and '60s. The simple, slender shapes of these cars bear no extravagant flourishes or adornments. The purposeful design is what gave these cars their beauty, and it's these classic machines that inspired the new Infiniti Prototype 9. Teased earlier this week, this concept blends old and new, with classic lines hiding a modern all-electric powertrain. The Prototype 9 will make its full debut next week at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Infiniti says the car was built around a simple idea: what would a 1940s Infiniti grand prix car look like? While the silver paint may be more German than Japanese, the design could easily be mistaken for an actual '40s grand prix car. Only the Infiniti-styled grille gives it away. Everything about it, from the thin bias-ply tires wrapped over center-locking wire wheels to the bulging screws around the driver's seat, is pitch perfect. Underneath that achingly long hood rests a prototype electric motor and battery from Nissan's Advanced Powertrain Department. The combo sends 148 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque straight to the rear wheels. That's good enough to send the svelte 1,962 lb car to 62 mph in just 5.5 seconds. Top speed is right at 106 mph. While speed may die off towards the top end, all that torque and a 43/57 front to rear weight distribution should make the Prototype 9 a riot on a small, tight circuit. There's only enough juice in the battery for about 20 minutes of flat-out racing. The handmade steel body rests on a steel ladder-frame chassis. The front suspension uses a leading-arm rigid axle with transverse leaf spring while the rear uses a De Dion axle, also with a transverse leaf spring. The Prototype 9 also uses old-school hydraulic rotary type dampers. There's no power steering and no brake booster for the four-wheel disc brakes. The car was designed and built by a number of different departments within Infiniti and Nissan. A simple sketch expanded as more and more designers and engineers wanted to have a hand in the project. The steel body panels were all shaped and hammered by hand. The bare cockpit is only adorned with a thin seat, three gauges, a few switches, a gear selector and the steering wheel. The gauges are set into a fixed aluminum hub in the center of the steering wheel.
Formula 1 seeking independent engine supplier
Mon, Oct 26 2015Formula 1 could get a new engine supplier in the near future, if Bernie Ecclestone and the independent teams gets their way. According to Autosport, the FIA is soon to open the contract up for bids, and there are already several manufacturers that have expressed interest. Currently Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault, and Honda supply engines – both to their own premier teams (Red Bull and McLaren for the latter two) but also to other teams like Williams, Sauber, and Toro Rosso. Because the new turbocharged V6 hybrid power units cost those four suppliers so much to develop, they're charging their customer teams big bucks – around $20-30 million per season – to provide the engines. These costs are much higher than the $10 million or so it used to cost to purchase a V8 engine under the previous regulations. Ecclestone figures it's time to bring in another supplier who will not run their own team and not play favorites, but will supply engines to private teams at a lower cost. There are already a number of potential suppliers under consideration. One of them is said to be Cosworth, which has a long history in the series stretching back to 1963. The British firm stepped back between 2007 and 2009, returned in 2010, and dropped out again after 2013. The development could be of particular benefit to Red Bull, which has been unable to find an engine supplier and could be forced out of the series as a result. The team has long been powered by Renault, but that relationship has grown sour. And the other three engine manufacturers have not been forthcoming in offering an alternative arrangement for the team. Infiniti Q30 goes full monty before Frankfurt
Tue, Jul 21 2015Infiniti is finally tearing off the camouflage and showing the world what the Q30 luxury hatchback actually looks like. Set to make a full debut Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15, the five-door marks the entry of the Japanese premium brand into the compact hatch ranks. The company's designers did a fantastic job of bringing the major elements from 2013's concept to the street, though. Like the earlier design, the production Q30 wears Infiniti's rounded rectangle grille and a chrome strip along the edge of the hood. The headlights are also left squinting from the concept. The only major change to the front end is an adjustment to the lower air dam to make it a little more realistic for production. Sadly, Infiniti is only providing this single front three-quarters perspective on the upcoming five-door for now, but check out the C-pillar in the background to spot the similarly pointed design there, as well. The changes are actually more noticeable when comparing the Q30 with its platform-mate, the QX30 compact crossover concept. The hatchback noticeably softens many of the CUVs swoopy lines to be a bit more mainstream. This is especially true along the front where the big air intakes from the QX are made significantly smaller. Production of the Q30 is slated to start in Sunderland, England, by the end of the year. They should actually arrive in showrooms there before the calendar runs out. Still, we're looking forward to Frankfurt for a more complete view of Infiniti's little luxury hatchback.
