2024 New York International Auto Show Editors' Top 5 Picks

The New York Auto Show, like many other shows over the past few years, has shrunk. But it's still playing host to some interesting reveals, and we even got a few surprises this year. It was dominated by Nissan and Hyundai Motor Group products, but ones running the gamut from affordable cars to flagship SUVs. It was a strange situation of being both quite diverse in reveals, and not at all, depending on how you looked at it. Our favorites of the show are a clear representation of that. Nissan Kicks "The Nissan Kicks has gone from a reasonably attractive and small crossover into something way more funky with cool textures, color combinations and some actual presence. Plus, it's more spacious, more powerful and has available all-wheel drive. Infiniti QX80 "The QX80 wasn't technically shown at the New York Auto Show, but it was revealed just a week prior at Hudson Yards – accross the street, in other words. The attention to detail both outside and in seem appropriate for an SUV that Infiniti hopes to sell for six figures loaded up. Infiniti and Steph Curry team up for hilarious 'ugliest car ever' prank

Stephen Curry, the famous Golden State Warriors basketball player, and Infiniti just pulled an epic and cringeworthy prank on Curry's friend COSeezy. In case you hadn’t noticed the commercials, Curry is a brand ambassador for Infiniti, so heÂ’s pretty tight with the Japanese luxury brand. The MVP invited his friend over to help him shoot a commercial for a mysterious new Infiniti concept car that Curry “helped design.” COSeezy was there to react to what would surely be an incredible piece of machinery. What Curry ended up showing him was a GO-4. You may have seen one of these crawling along city streets doing the odd job or two, and thereÂ’s absolutely nothing glorious about them. Curry dressed this particular GO-4 out with one hell of a body kit in an attempt to fool COSeezy into thinking it was a fancy new concept car. And he succeeded. Take a gander at the footage and have a laugh for yourself — things get rather awkward and embarrassing for COSeezy as the video goes on. But hey, thatÂ’s what pranks are for. In case you were wondering, the luxurious GO-4 features a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that puts out 66 horsepower. It has a four-speed automatic transmission and achieves a claimed 45 mpg. The vehicle looks ridiculous, though, and thatÂ’s pretty much all that matters here. Infiniti did pull an actual concept car out of a nearby garage after they let COSeezy know it was a prank. They had the QX Inspiration Concept on hand — itÂ’s the crossover Infiniti showed at the Detroit Auto Show this year.

First Infiniti QX30 Concept image released ahead of Geneva Motor Show

After releasing a shadowy glimpse of the rear of the QX30 Concept a few days ago, Infiniti is finally shining some light on the premium compact crossover's backside ahead of the vehicle's full debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on March 3. The QX30 is a thorough reworking of the brand's Q30 Concept from the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Many of the same styling elements show up on the latest luxury crossover interpretation, but the touches are tweaked to better align with Infiniti's latest look. In addition to jacking up the ride height by 1.2 inches, the CUV gets hard creases in its sheetmetal and complicated 21-inch aluminum wheels that really grab the eye. The rear wears a contrasting dark purple stripe that separates the hatch area from the exhaust tips housed in the skid plate, and both concepts share a coupe-like proportion with the backseat door pulls hidden for a cleaner line. While not pictured, the company says the vehicle has a glass roof. Infiniti still isn't showing the aluminum-trimmed front of the concept yet, but the automaker admits that the styling on display here hints at the possibility of a future premium compact crossover, which isn't really a surprise.
