2004 Hyundai Tiburon on 2040-cars
Jamestown, Indiana, United States
2004 Hyundai Tiburon in good driving condition. My son recently bought another car outright, so his old one is for sale. Mileage is around 32 mpg. The engine has never been worked on with the exception of oil changes and spark plugs. Tires have probably 30,000 miles on them. Stock magnesium wheels. The radio is one year old - Best Buy installed and iPod - iPhone ready. It is a hatchback. Headlights and tail lights all function, as do the turning signals and back up lights. Manual 5 speed transmission with a new clutch installed about 3 months ago.
The front bumper is shattered - my son hit a moving vehicle and broke it, however, there was no damage whatsoever to the frame. The collision was about 10 mpg. when it happened. The bumper to replace it lists for around $200 on eBay sites which I recently checked. Mechanically, the engine, transmission, radiator, clutch, and brakes are all in good shape. It needs a new exhaust system, and the present one is resting on the frame so it rattles when a bump is hit. The sun roof only opens partially, there is no cruise control (none when purchased), and the emergency brake has had the cables cut at one time and we never fixed it. The paint is in acceptable condition but the stock spoiler does need re-painting. There are the beginnings of a few bubbles in the paint on the very bottom edges of the doors, but the rest of the body is rust free. One small dent in the very front of the hood. The car is ready to drive. |

Hyundai prices three-row Santa Fe from $28,350*
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Each extra inch in the wheelbase of the six- and seven-passenger 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, compared to the five-seat Santa Fe Sport, will cost you $1,000. The larger version of Hyundai's new people carrier is 3.9 inches longer, and whereas the Santa Fe Sport was priced at $24,450, the roomier Santa Fe comes in four flavors that start at $28,350 for the front-wheel drive GLS version. Adding all-wheel drive to the GLS tacks on another $1,750, stepping up to the front-wheel Limited takes you to $33,100, the all-wheel drive Limited topping things out at $34,850. For the true price, you'll need to add *$845 to those prices for freight.
The base price is the same as Hyundai's previous seven-seater option, the Veracruz, slapped on a vehicle with much better looks and more features. Compared to the Santa Fe Sport, the six- and seven-passenger option has 8.5 extra inches in overall length, 1.9 extra inches of second-row legroom and that third row of seating in its hind quarters. The second row can be had as a traditional bench or captain's chairs on the Limited. Under the hood is the same 3.3-liter direct-injection V6 with 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed Shiftronic transmission, and the same EPA estimated 25 highway miles per gallon for the FWD version.
You also get extra standard amenities like a 115-volt socket, power liftgate and rear-seat climate controls. Check out the press release below to find out all about them.
2015 Hyundai Genesis demonstrates safety with high-stakes blind tests
Sun, 04 May 2014For better or worse, technology like adaptive cruise control, backup cameras, lane keeping assist and other safety features have revolutionized the way cars drive. Hyundai is proving just how advanced its assists are in a trio of new videos starring veteran stunt and race driver Rhys Millen.
Each video puts Millen behind the wheel of a 2015 Hyundai Genesis with all of its windows blacked out. He's challenged to prove the usefulness of the car's backup camera, lane assist and automatic emergency braking by making it through three dangerous situations while driving blind.
At about two-minutes each, the videos are quick to watch, even if the amount of danger Millen is ever really in seems somewhat questionable. The one titled The Gauntlet, which tests the backup cam to swinging transport containers, is probably the best of the bunch. Scroll down to watch all three videos and see how you think Hyundai's safety assists stack up.
2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo gets stripped-down, lower-cost R-Spec model
Wed, 20 Nov 2013We Autoblog staffers have had our ups and downs with our long-term 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, but there's no question that the cheeky three-door hatchback has got its proponents. Case in point: at the recent driving event for the fire-breathing SRT Viper TA, none other than Ralph Gilles sauntered over to have a closer look at the matte grey Veloster we'd driven out to the track that day. Gilles had lots of praise for the Veloster styling; not out of line with similar sentiments we've heard all year long.
We digress slightly, but the larger point is that there still seems to be a lot of interest in the Veloster, and Hyundai has plans to fully explore potential new marketplace niches for the car with this all-new, 2014 Veloster Turbo R-Spec.
Following on with the formula for R-Spec models to date, the new Veloster is not a higher-performance Turbo, but rather one that is more affordable. The theory goes that a de-contented Veloster Turbo hits the sweet spot for those who are interested in tuning the car for performance, a group that will probably not need the higher spec comfort and connectivity content that the standard Turbo ships with.
