You are bidding on a 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS.  It has been adult driven and garage kept all of its life.  Most of the miles put on the car are highway driven.  The Sonata has been the most reliable car I have owned.  Gas mileage usually ranges in between 26 and 28 mpg.   I have always been very comfortable with my children in this vehicle knowing that the safety ratings are high and that the car is dependable.

Maintenance

I have had the vehicle since new and was bought with 4475 miles from a local dealer.  It was a demo vehicle.  I have always changed the oil with Mobil 1 between 7,000 to 8,000 miles and used either a Mobil 1 filter or Purolater Pure One.  The transmission fluid has been drained and filled with Hyundai SP III trans fluid every 20,000 miles.

The vehicle has had the following items replaced:

  • ·         Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires 09/2011 (great life left)
  • ·         Drivers side rear caliper 07/2012 (front pads and first rear pair of rear pads were replaced during this time)
  • ·         Battery replaced 06/2013
  • ·         NGK Spark Plugs 10/2013
  • ·         Passenger side rear caliper 12/2013 (most recent rear pad replacement)
  • ·        Starter 04/2014

Beyond normal wear and tear with a few dings and scratches, these are the following standouts:

Late last year the vehicle was backed into 12/2013 and the front bumper was damaged and the fog lamp cover on the passenger side is missing.  Enclosed is a picture of this.

Regardless of getting bi-weekly washes, the rims formed surface rust as I have displayed in the picture gallery.  This happened six months into purchasing the vehicle.  If you do a web search this has been an apparent issue with MANY of the Hyundai vehicles with steel rims.  This is just a cosmetic gripe.

I have described this vehicle to the best of my knowledge.  No warranty is expressed or implied.  This vehicle is sold as is and all purchases are final.

If you have any questions about this vehicle, please e-mail me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  Thank you for your interest.

Hyundai Sante Fe reveals its refreshed face in South Korea

Mon, Jun 8 2015

The Hyundai Santa Fe is getting a refreshed face just three years after the debut of the current generation, but for now the revision is exclusive to the South Korean market. The crossover is definitely getting a dash more style with this upgrade. The grille retains a three-bar design, but each crosspiece now sports cuts at each edge for a more visually interesting look. Lower down, the air intake grows larger for a little more aggression, and LED running lights are now mounted above the fog lights. The headlights are also re-sculpted for a sharper shape. According to a rough translation of Hyundai's press release, the rear bumper and taillights also see revisions, but the company has no photos of them. Similarly, the interior apparently receives a redesigned gauge cluster with new fonts and icons. For the South Korea at least, the updated Santa Fe is also getting an expanded list of tech options. Buyers can now opt for adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system with parking assist. The release specifically mentions that Hyundai is aiming for the Santa Fe to score Good in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's small overlap crash test in the United States, versus the current version's Marginal rating. When the refreshed Santa Fe was previously spotted testing, the North American debut was predicted for sometime this year. Given the reveal of the crossover in South Korea, that estimated date would seem even more likely now. Autoblog reached out to a Hyundai Motor North America spokesperson for a more exact date, but all we heard back was that the automaker wouldn't comment on future product plans.

So, how do you actually pronounce that automaker's name?

Thu, Jan 21 2016

You probably have that friend who always says Porsche wrong, or maybe it's someone who keeps reminding you it's actually two syllables. Whichever side of the pronunciation debate you fall on, you'll find someone to root for in the video above. And before you ask, this was all the video team's idea. So don't get mad at me for being the voice of reason. BMW Chevrolet Hyundai Nissan Rolls-Royce Videos Original Video nissan qashqai

Who can really claim first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle delivery in US?

Thu, Jun 19 2014

Last month, Hyundai said that the initial deliveries of the Tucson Fuel Cell vehicles in California meant that, "For the first time, retail consumers can now put a mass-produced, federally-certified hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in their driveways." But try telling that to Jon Spallino. In 2005, Honda leased a hydrogen fuel cell FCX, a small hatchback, to the Spallino family (as far as we know, he parked it in his driveway). The company did the same thing again in 2008 with the FCX Clarity, a sleek new design based on the FCX Concept, and others signed for the H2 ride as well, including celebrities. No matter how you slice it, Honda has been in the fuel cell delivery market for almost a decade now. Just look at this. Or this. Or this. Oh, and other automakers (General Motors in Project Driveway in 2006 and Mercdes-Benz with the F-Cell in 2010, for example) have delivered fuel cell vehicles in the US as part of short-term test programs. But let's get back to Hyundai's claim. There's little question that the first delivery of a "fuel cell vehicle for the US market" has already taken place (and they were federally certified, too), which means that the debate revolves around the definition of mass-produced and whether "mass production" is about a number or about the process? Let's investigate below. First, lets review Honda's bona fides. We can start with the official version of Honda's fuel cell history, which is missing the pertinent detail that Honda build the Clarity on a dedicated assembly line and established a small network of three dealerships to lease the FCX Clarity in 2008. All of the FCX Clarity vehicles in customer hands in the US were leased through these dealerships. Sure, Honda started with hand-built stacks in its hydrogen vehicles, but went to automated control of some parts and components with series production. "It is good to see others doing today what we've been doing since 2008" – Steve Ellis, Honda Or, as Honda's Steve Elllis put it to AutoblogGreen regarding Hyundai's fuel cell deliveries: "This was exactly as prescribed by the creation of the California Fuel Cell Partnership. It's the very essence of 'co-op-itition.' We at Honda, as do many others, continue to push forward on many technologies, both the battery and the fuel cell. And society is the beneficiary." Then he added, "It is good to see others doing today what we've been doing since 2008." Now, how does Hyundai compare?
