This white Tucson with grey interior has a 173-horsepower, 2.7L V6 with a standard four-speed automatic and on demand 4 wheel drive. It has electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, front seat-mounted side air bags, active front head restraints, and side curtain air bags that cover both rows of seating are all standard across the model line. There's seating for five, and the rear seat is split 60/40 and folds forward easily to expand cargo space. Six tie-down points are provided, and the cargo floor is an easy-to-clean smooth material. As with most other crossover SUVs, the back hatch lifts up, but there's also a flip-up rear window that allows convenient loading. This come with16-inch alloy wheels, an 80-watt CD audio system, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. SE models bring a sportier appearance with bodyside cladding, fog lamps, and body-colored handles and mirrors, plus air conditioning and cruise control. As pictured, it has minor dent and missing cladding on the passenger side front door but no accidents. It has 110,000 miles with 40,000 miles on highway travel. Serious buyers only. It is a nice dependable small SUV, great in snow with the tires that are on it now. And, it holds a lot of stuff. I will bring the car to the winner bidder depending on your location. |

Facelifted Hyundai ix35/Tucson shows up
Fri, 01 Mar 2013It looks as though Hyundai has readied a facelifted version of its ix35 crossover (known as the Tucson here in the U-S-of-A) for the Geneva Motor Show next week. While we haven't been able to get the Korean automaker to cough up the official details - or more than one image - reports indicate that the new Euro CUV will get revisions to the engine lineup, technology offerings and more.
The Hyundai's sheetmetal has been nipped and tucked from the looks of the photo, with bolder, bi-xenon headlamps and LED running lights the most obvious alterations. Inside we're told to keep an eye out for improved materials and a new, larger TFT infortainment control screen.
Expect clearer intel about both the ix35 and the home-market Tucson no later than next week, and most likely a bit earlier.
Here it is, Hyundai's headlining Super Bowl commercial
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Hyundai has ponied up for five commercials to play in, around and after the Super Bowl on Sunday, and it's slowly been releasing them one by one this week to attract as much attention as possible to these expensive ads. You've stuck with us through the first four, and we've got one last ad from Hyundai, its headliner, to show you.
Called Epic PlayDate, the ad's big hook is alt-rock band The Flaming Lips, who not only appear in the ad, but also wrote a new track called Sun Blows Up Today just for the spot. The track is available on iTunes as a single today, and will be a bonus track on their new album called Terror, which comes out in April.
The commercial is meant to sell something, and that something is the new three-row Santa Fe crossover. It follows a day in the life of a family with kids who do all sorts of crazy things, and we're told by Hyundai that the activities in which they partake pay homage to "signature band references" of The Flaming Lips.
Dodge, Hyundai crowdsourced-funding sites deemed successes
Wed, 05 Jun 2013What's not to love about crowdsourcing? This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.
