2003 Hyundai Tiburon Gt V6 2.7l Black/black - Needs Work on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
2003 Hyundai Tiburon
This would be a great project for somebody that knows a mechanic or has the desire to work on cars. My car repair days are behind me, so now it's your turn! Details: V6 DOHC GT 2.6L 6-speed manual transmission 125000 miles, all original except for clutch at 40k and air compressor last year. Mild paint fading due to age, but has been garage kept for most of it's life. Parking brake cable needs adjustment or replacement. Passenger exterior door handle is broken. I have a replacement already. Driver exterior door handle is about to break, but still works. I have a replacement. Both windows do not work. I have a replacement motor and regulator. Air conditioner has gone out. Possibly due to the used compressor I installed last year, or some other issue. I have not troubleshot this. The head gasket is believed to be damaged due to an overheating situation. I believe the water pump failed causing a dangerous overheating event. The radiator has a crack due to exhaust gases being forced into the cooling system. Basically, I didn't notice the overheat until steam appeared from the engine compartment. At that time I immediately pulled over and turned off the engine. The mechanic who reviewed the car said the head gasket is most likely damaged, but unsure until the engine is pulled apart. The engine does start and it runs rough. With the radiator crack, I would recommend a tow pickup and not a drive away. Brand new tires and wheels. I clipped some Freeway debris about two months ago that damaged a wheel. Buying four new low-end wheels from Discount Tire was less than one new Hyundai wheel. I drove this car every day for the past 10 years and it was exceptional the entire time. Replacement parts I have and are included in this sale: Right and left exterior door handles, unpainted (black) Power window regulator Power window motor Timing belt Rear valve cover gasket (I replaced the front a few months ago) |

Automakers teaming with Google to bring Android to cars this year
Mon, 06 Jan 2014Remember how we mentioned that Hyundai would be offering a BlueLink infotainment app for Google Glass? And how last week, we told you about a rumored partnership between Audi and Google? Well, both of these things were just part of a much bigger deal.
Google has teamed up with Audi, General Motors, Hyundai and Honda to form the Open Automotive Alliance. With the help of chipmaker NVIDIA, the group aims to bring Google's Android operating system to the auto industry on a large scale. While the speed with which Android will be adopted by the industry remains unclear - the OAA's own press release says "timing for each automaker will vary" - we could see the first Android-equipped vehicle by year's end.
For those that keep their ear to the ground in the automotive tech world, this is a big deal for more than just one reason - Honda, GM and Hyundai are all partners in the Siri Eyes Free program from Apple. The future of that relationship now that three of its automakers are in bed with Apple's arch-rival, though, could be under threat.
