*It may be important to note that I have no idea whether this is a base model or a GL. I just know it's not the LX.
First I'll tell you the good stuff. This was a 'mom car' and I loved it. Now my children are older & I don't need something this big. We put coffee tables and couches in this car. For a small SUV it held alot. Has plenty of room all around (my husband is 6' tall). The A/C is icy cold and the heat is plentiful. I was always so concerned about getting stuck in snow that I got some awesome snow tires. The tires (which still have a ton of wear left) do not provide a nice silent ride but I felt it's a small price to pay to feel secure in the winter. You got about another 25,000 miles til another timing belt. We always kept up on the timing belts and pretty much everything I guess. Kept all the receipts & also have a how to fix it manual.
Now here's the not so good stuff. First and foremost, the check engine light has been on for years, but it's NOT a problem. It was originally due to an exhaust issue. We had the tests run and the trouble codes checked and they replaced the 1 clogged catylitic converter (it has 2) and some other exhaust related stuff. The other converter was not clogged but the light would never go off. As I said it's been years and it has always passed inspection both before and after this issue. The current sticker is good til next year. The second problem is there's a short somewhere that we could never find. It seems if you press the button to power the adjustment of the drivers side mirror, you will blow the fuse and lose the stereo along with the passenger side mirror. We just don't adjust the drivers side mirror. The 3rd issue is a power steering fluid leak.

Hyundai recalls 305k Sonatas for brake lights that stay on
Sat, Nov 21 2015Hyundai will recall 304,900 examples of the 2011-2012 Sonata because a problem with a part of the brake pedal might not allow the brake lights to shut off. The campaign specifically affects units with build dates between Dec. 11, 2009, and June 30, 2011, but the company has no reports of accidents or injuries from this issue. The brake pedal stopper pad on these vehicles can potentially deteriorate and allow the brake light switch to remain active after a driver releases it. If this happened, the lights would stay on at the back, and a person could shift out of park without depressing the pedal. The recall campaign will begin Jan. 11, and dealers will fix the problem with an improved version of the stopper pad. In the affected vehicles, the brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the stop lamp switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. CONSEQUENCE: If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights may stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without depressing the brake pedal. Either condition increases the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad with an improved part, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on January 11, 2016. The awards were announced Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This year's car finalists also included the Honda Insight and Volvo S60/V60. Truck finalists included the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500. SUV finalists also included the Acura RDX and the Jaguar I-Pace. Last year's winners were the Honda Accord, Lincoln Navigator and the Volvo XC60. About 55 automotive journalists serve as judges. Eligible vehicles must be new or substantially changed.
