2003 Hyndai Accent Gt Hatchback 98k Cold Air Auto 30 Mpg Plus on 2040-cars

Birmingham, Alabama, United States

This is a 2003 Hyundai Accent GT which I bought five or six years ago from CarMax and has been my daily driver until about a month ago. The car is a very dependable ride but has some issues which I will detail completely in this listing. I am selling the car because I have purchased a large Lincoln to enjoy in my retirement. Kelley Blue book wholesale value on this car in fair condition is $1254 in my area (Trade-In value). The value for a private party sale is $2007. I am starting the auction at $1000 and the top bid will buy the car.

The good: Air conditioning and heat work great, engine has never let me down and still runs great, gas mileage has been 30 MPG plus regardless, interior is in pretty nice shape with no tears or major damage other than some minor scratches on plastic door panels. the car has a working trailer hitch with electric plug connectors.

The bad: There are numerous little dents and scratches on the exterior of the car (I bought it that way). The tires are okay for now, but it will need 2 tires replaced very soon. The radio seems to turn on by itself when the car hits a bump. The front and rear left turn signal stays on at night and does not blink. This turn signal works fine when the headlights are not on. The dash light behind the speedometer does not normally work, but it blinks on sometimes. The dash light for the odometer works fine. The driver's side electric window works fine, but it is noisy and probably needs a new kit put into it. The paint is faded and clear coat has peeled from both rear-view mirrors (see photos). The paint has also faded on the scoop located on the back hatchback door. On occasion, I can hear a very (almost inaudible) light clicking noise when the car coasts down a hill (and only when the car coasts). I've had a mechanic listen to it and he didn't know what it was. That was about five thousand miles ago, and I have not done anything to the car since then. The sound has not gotten any worse in that time. My best guess on this issue is that it is a mechanical part of the speedometer clicking. The engine light is on, but has been since I bought the car. I had it tested a few years ago, and it is some type of sensor light. I didn't want to spend a $100 plus on a sensor relay, so the light is still on. The headlight lenses are cloudy and need refinishing to clear (buffing).

I don't have to sell this car, as it is a very economical mode of transportation for me and still looks pretty good. I have been completely honest in the description and will not hold you to your purchase if the car is not exactly as I have described. It is an excellent little work car for someone that doesn't mind the small issues that it has.

2015 Hyundai Azera is refreshed, may still be on life support

Thu, Nov 20 2014

What you see above is the 2015 Hyundai Azera. It's slightly refreshed for the new model year, with a new grille, lighting elements and fascia joining some newly standard technology bits inside the cabin. Other than those few updates, this is the same Azera we've known and loved since its most recent redesign for the 2012 model year. Thing is, we're not sure if the Azera will actually live past 2015 here in the United States. Hyundai has said that it still sees some space above the Sonata midsize sedan and its larger and more luxurious Genesis Sedan for a vehicle sized and priced like the Azera, but just hasn't been able to find many buyers who agree. Put simply, if you like what you see in the 2015 Azera, now would be a good time to mosey on over to your nearest Hyundai dealer to see if this fullsize sedan suits your specific needs better than competitors like the Chevy Impala, Toyota Avalon and Buick LaCrosse.

Hyundai recalls 43k Genesis and Equus models for faulty lighting

Tue, Dec 9 2014

As you can imagine, it'd be a bit of a problem if the brake lights on your car didn't work. And that, unfortunately, is precisely the problem that Hyundai has found with some of its higher-end offerings, prompting the Korean automaker to issue a recall. (One of a great many recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration today, as you can no doubt see.) The problem apparently revolves around a failure in the circuit that's supposed to illuminate the taillights when the driver hits the brakes. If that doesn't work, of course, the vehicle behind would be more likely to crash into the Hyundai in question. As a result, Hyundai is recalling precisely 42,925 units, split between the 2009-2011 Genesis (manufactured between April 30, 2008, and November 21, 2010) and the 2011 Equus (manufactured between July 31, 2010 and November 21, 2010). Owners of those vehicles will be notified to bring their vehicles in to have their brake light circuits repaired. RECALL Subject : Inoperative Stop Lamps Report Receipt Date: NOV 07, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V713000 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING Potential Number of Units Affected: 42,925 Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor America SUMMARY: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2009-2011 Hyundai Genesis vehicles manufactured April 30, 2008, to November 21, 2010, and 2011 Hyundai Equus vehicles manufactured July 31, 2010, to November 21, 2010. Due to a circuit failure, the stop lamps in the affected vehicles may not illuminate. CONSEQUENCE: A following vehicle may not recognize that the vehicle is slowing or coming to a stop if the stop lamps on the vehicle do not illuminate as expected. There is an increased risk of a rear-end crash as a result. REMEDY: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will repair the stop lamp switch circuit, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-714-865-3920. Hyundai's number for this recall is 125. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Hyundai's Genesis G90 stretches out back home in Korea

Wed, Mar 16 2016

Hyundai is getting serious about competing in the luxury market with the launch of its expanded Genesis line. And in the Far East it calls home, that means stretched limousines. Enter the new EQ900L. The Korean automaker's new luxury flagship stretches the wheelbase of the vehicle we now know as the Genesis G90 – or as the Equus in its previous iteration – by an extra 11.4 inches to give the top executives at Samsung and LG extra room to stretch out while in transit from the office to the Psy concert. The elongated cabin space also allows for first-class reclining rear seats, adjustable in 18 directions and upholstered in semi-aniline leather. A long center console runs the entire length of the cabin loaded with everything from ambient lighting to a Lexicon sound system. The same 5.0-liter Tau V8 still provides motivation, channeling 425 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four of the 19-inch wheels. That may not be enough to keep pace with the V12-powered Mercedes-Maybach S600 we get here, but it comes close to the S500 version sold overseas. Unfortunately for those of us living outside of Korea, the EQ900L is only being offered in its domestic market for the time being, where titans of industry can pick one up for 100 million won – equivalent to $84,000 at current exchange rates.
