We purchased our Hummer H1 from Hummer of Thousand Oaks, California on February 21, 2001.  It was a brand new 2000 model year truck and we are the original owners.  It came loaded with options and we had the dealer install a number of high performance after market accessories and a local high-end car electronics shop upgraded the audio system to a state-of-the-art (for 2001) mobile audio video system.  We have done almost no off-road driving (we have a second Hummer H1, a 1994, that we do take off-road) and this truck is in outstanding condition with low mileage (49,825 miles as of June 23, 2013).  We have done all the regular maintenance in particular regular oil changes.  We LOVE our Hummers however we have decided that due to a "lifestyle down shift" we can only afford one and will keep the 1994 (the one we take off-roading) and are reluctantly selling this extraordinary example of the best truck ever made!

The truck is in outstanding condition inside and out and we just had it professionally detailed.

The engine is the awesome 6.5L V8 Turbo Diesel and the truck also has the AM General TT4-ABS system.

These are the AM General Hummer options the truck came with:
  • Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS)
  • Driveline Protection
  • Trailer Towing Package
  • Dual Oil Filter
  • Runflat Tire System
  • Aluminum Rocker Panel
  • Cruise Control
  • Lighted Visor
  • Deluxe Rear View Mirror
  • Power Side Mirrors
  • 12,000 pound Electric Winch
  • Heated Windshield
  • Hummer Floor Mats
  • Light Bar / Windshield Guard
  • Full-Size Spare Tire
  • Heavy Duty Brush Guard
We had the dealer (Hummer of Thousand Oaks, Thousand Oaks, CA) add the following high performance after market accessories at the time of purchase:
  • Short Snorkel & Air Pre-cleaner
  • Off Road America Electric Fan Cooling Kit with Hood Scoop (painted Mesa Dusk to match truck)
  • Four PIAA HUM8364/Pencil Beam 80 lights on Front Light Bar
  • Two PIAA HUM8360/Clear Fog 80 lights on the heavy Duty Brush Guard
  • Two PIAA HUM8360/Clear Fog 80 lights on Side Light Bar
  • Two PIAA HUM516 Lights on Rear Roof Rack
  • Con-Ferr 60903 6-foot x 9-foot roof rack with Hi-Lift Jack Mount and Axe and Shovel Mounts (60-inch Hi-Lift Jack, Axe and Shovel included)
  • Federal Signal SW300 Light Switch Panel (the type seen in police cards and fire trucks)
  • Stinger Mac Turbo Boost Gauge
  • Momo Millenium Steering Wheel
  • Knee Panel Cutaway Kit (more legroom room for front passenger)
  • Stinger Mac Center Console Rack
  • Adventure Accessories Rear Compartment Tool Box
  • Stinger Custom Fenderwell Rack
  • Off Road America Rear Step Bumper
  • Fire Extinguisher
The following mobile electronics were installed by European Car Stereo, Redondo Beach, CA in May 2001:
  • Kenwood eXcelon KVT-910DVD in-dash AM / FM / TV / DVD player
  • Three Kenwood eXcelon LZ-800W 8" wide TFT LCD monitors (mounted in two rear seat backs and front passenger visor)
  • Kenwood eXcelon C907 10-disc CD changer
  • Kenwood eXcelon Speaker System
  • Garmin StreetPilot ColorMap GPS
In September 2002 we upgraded the four wheels to two-piece black aluminum alloy wheels from Lynch Hummer/Adventure Accessories.  The truck presently has four Goodyear Wrangler 37X12.5R17LT tires which have only a few thousand miles on them (see photo for tread depth).

Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts

Fri, Jan 27 2017

The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:

2022 Rivian R1T vs. 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning vs. GMC Hummer EV Pickup | How they compare on paper

Tue, Sep 28 2021

The 2022 Rivian R1T has arrived, ushering in the era of the production electric pickup truck. The Rivian reviews are in, and spoiler alert: They're pretty good. Curious how the new battery-powered truck stacks up to its forthcoming competitors? Well, you've come to the right place. Rivian beat all of Detroit's big automakers to market in the half-ton segment, but probably not by the margin the startup would have liked. Ford's answer is the F-150 Lightning, which is due to enter production early next year, coming hot on the heels of GM's first entry into the space – the GMC Hummer EV pickup – which is scheduled to come off the line late this fall. While all three are pickups, they're aimed at distinctly different buyers, as a perusal of their specifications will reveal. Let's have a look, shall we?   Disclaimer: Before we dive in on this one, we'd like to note that while we've made our best effort to verify the specs provided, the Rivian is brand-new and the others are still in the prototype phase. Some of these figures may be inaccurate or may simply change before production. This is all hypothetical until you can actually cross-shop them anyway, right? Cool. End disclaimer. Let's start with the powertrains. They're all battery-electric trucks engineered on a modular rear-wheel-drive configuration engineered to accommodate (theoretically, anyway) up to four electric drive units. Rivian actually makes the most use of this with a quad-motor setup producing 835 horsepower and 908 pound-feet of torque with its high-output initial model. GMC's three-motor Hummer has the R1T beat with its estimated 1,000-horsepower output, while Ford's (also three-motor) comes in with a far more modest 563 horses. This is an excellent illustration of our above point that these are not all engineered for the same crowd. Ford's F-150, which comes in at a lower price point, is meant to be far more mainstream, as its power output suggests.  This theme continues when we look at the dimensions. Despite the image "Hummer" may conjure, GMC's entry actually needs the shallowest parking space. The Rivian is right behind it, with the work-truck-spec Ford extending more than a foot longer than either. What the Hummer lacks in length, it makes up for in girth. It's the widest by a good 5 inches. The Rivian is only slightly pudgier than the F-150, but it's much closer at that end of the scale.

Trademark application points to evolution of new Hummer EV logo

Mon, Aug 17 2020

A trademark application has revealed yet another evolution of the logo expected to adorn GMC's new Hummer EV pickup truck, bringing back the big "H" badge utilized on the H2 and H3 model lines of the expanded SUV lineup's heyday.  The image included with the filing depicts a logo that should be familiar to Hummer fans (or really any American who left their house between 2003 and 2010), with "EV" supplanting the old numerical model indicator. The "Hummer" and "EV" typeface appears to be a direct lift from a filing that surfaced back in April.  This should provide some comfort to folks who are fans of the idea of a future-proofed, all-electric pickup, but want something that embodies the charisma and road presence of the models sold in Hummer's now-deceased, not-so-environmentally-spectacular incarnation. While we don't yet know really any details of the new all-electric SUV, we do know it will be sold via GMC dealers, meaning the revived nameplate will not bring the rest of the Hummer brand along with it.  We haven't really seen much of the new truck, save for teasers and hints here and there. Even the "reveal" back in June only gave us a vague, big-picture look at the truck's silhouette, and various companion images and videos have hinted at features such as a removable roof assembly.  The truck’s general shape is off-road oriented with squared-off, sharp lines tracing the entire silhouette. Its big, knobby tires and blocky wheels are clear indicators of what GM was aiming for with this electric pickup. As for the SUV, comparisons to the Ford Bronco four-door will be inevitable. If our eyes are picking up the scale of this photo correctly, though, the Hummer SUV appears to be a slightly larger vehicle than the four-door Bronco is. Although, the wheelbase for the SUV is shorter than that of the Hummer truck. ThatÂ’ll help it off-road. Those small bumpers and short overhangs along with the bumper cutouts should be hugely beneficial to approach and departure angles, as well. GMCÂ’s shots of the Hummer in the studio are equally as revealing. We can see what looks to be an intense front skid plate and two big tow hooks. In addition to the off-road gear, GMC has allowed a look at the frunk. The front “grille” is one piece with the hood of the truck, so the whole assembly pulls up. That makes for what appears to be a very easy-to-load front trunk compared to other EVs that force you to lift items up and over the front of the car.
