The Hummer H3 features styling that is strikingly similar to its older brother, the H2. If it weren't for the H3's broader fender flares the casual spotter might have a tough time telling them apart. The 2008 H3 also shares the H2's off-road prowess. Short overhangs, aggressive approach and departure angles and nine inches of ground clearance help navigate rough terrain. The standard rear axle is a tall 4.56 ratio, and the standard push-button transfer case has a 2.64 crawl ratio. The H3 is built on GM's Canyon/Colorado platform, but with a sturdier frame and specially tuned shocks. The H3 also features a two-speed transfer case and electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system with traction control. This H3 rides on upgraded/enormous LT285/75R16 tires, the largest available on any midsize SUV. The suspension package is the heavy duty for handling/trailering. The 2008 Hummer shares its 3.7L inline five-cylinder engine with its pickup siblings, and it generates 242 horsepower and 242 ft-lbs of torque. It has an electronic four-speed automatic transmission. The interior is upgraded with heated power leather front seats. This H3 comes with a six-disc CD changer, Harmon audio system, chromed aluminum wheels, and a power sunroof.

We are the second owner of this vehicle (we purchased it with 30k miles), and it has been driven with tender loving care by a lady.  We changed the tires to the larger size (however we still have the four Goodyear 265 size tires that came on it if preferred, or can be purchased separately to keep as a replacement set).  The front hooks were replaced with tow hooks to pull behind an RV (it is our understanding the hooks can be changed back).  This vehicle has lots of options with the luxury package, chrome appearance package, and trailering package.  The chrome shines and against the white, really makes a statement.  This is a sharp looking Hummer H3!!!

Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of the vehicle.  Bluebook value is $24,174.

Please ask any questions before the end of the auction, or before choosing to buy-it-now.  Winning bidder should contact within 24 hours of auction end and make arrangements for payment at that time.  A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end; the remaining balance is due within 3 days of auction end.  If no contact is made within 24 hours, we reserve the right to continue to offer the vehicle for sale (which may include selling to the next highest bidder, or someone else).

This vehicle is described as accurately as possible.  We encourage you to inspect the vehicle prior to bidding.  We reserve the right to end the listing if the vehicle sells prior to the auction closing.  Please do not bid unless you are committing to purchase the vehicle.  Vehicle is being sold as-is; however, there are no known issues with this vehicle.  Please contact us with any questions.

AM General to offer civilian Humvee kit car

Thu, 02 Aug 2012

For anyone feeling nostalgic about the passing of the Hummer brand, or the actual wartime vehicle that inspired it, now is your chance to own a version of the original HMMWV, albeit without an engine.
After a 12-year hiatus from the civilian vehicle market, AM General is reportedly set to offer a kit-car of the C-Series Humvee. The kit will conform to U.S. government regulations and has been made possible by a deal with General Motors.
The kit costs $59,000 - and you still need an engine. A likely favorite would be a Duramax Diesel V8 and Allison transmission combination, as was found on the H1 Alpha. AM General estimates that an owner could buy the kit Humvee and outfit a powerplant and transmission for $75,000. Not bad, considering that H1 Alpha has an MSRP of $140,000 in 2005.

The electric Hummer gets a new logo

Sat, Apr 11 2020

GM submitted three trademark applications to government offices here and in Canada, as discovered by GM Authority. Two applications went to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office on February 4 this year, seeking to reserve the new Hummer logo, at the top in the image above. Note, the two logos aren't to scale; they're about the same size all things being equal, but we shrunk the old mark. GM sent a second application to the USPTO on February 7 requesting the brand name "Hummer" for application to "motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, trucks and sport utility vehicles; bicycles." True, we've seen the new Hummer script stretched across the front of the coming electric pickup in a teaser clip, but the paperwork continues the process of getting the entire continent ready for the alternate universe resurrection of one of America's most notorious brands.     In 2010, gas prices were in orbit, GM committed to closing the Hummer brand, vandals were setting fire to the scattered Hummers left on dealer lots, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 made 638 horsepower, the eco-minded revered the Toyota Prius and the Tesla Model S was still two years away. In that year, it would have been hard to say something more bonkers than, "Hummer's coming back in ten years as an electric pickup, its top trim making 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque." But here we are. The new logo's squareness connects it to the resolute bluntness of the old mark, yet the thinner font and chopped corners both modernize the old logo and lessen its truculence. The brand appears headed the same way, with lurid specs and square-jawed looks just like old times, but having in LeBron James a more modern take on the hardcore male vibe than it once got from (unpaid) association with guys like Arnold Schwarzenegger. To be fair, old Hummer commercials always featured women in the driver's seat, or men and young boys dreaming of big adventures, or Regis Philbin chatting up models, but the marketing department couldn't — or didn't want to — outrun the lineup's reputation on the street. We'll see how the electric version and its “incredible on- and off-road capability" fare. According to the teaser site, the new Hummer's debut is still on track for May 20. If the brand manages to recreate the old H3T pickup but with an electric powertrain, it's got one buyer right here lined up already. Related Video:

Report: Last-ditch sale effort for Hummer post wind-down announcement fading

Tue, 06 Apr 2010

It's getting tough for even the most ardent supporters of the Hummer brand to continue to keep hope alive. Reports the aficionados at HummerGuy.net: "While many of us were hoping for a last-minute miracle to save the Hummer brand, signs from Detroit are indicating that Hummer production will soon cease indefinitely."
It appears as if General Motors has resigned itself to winding the brand down and letting it die a slow, agonizing death. The automaker says that it's no longer considering offers for the brand and dedicated Hummer staff are reportedly be assigned to serve elsewhere.
Oh, and about that "Save Hummer" summit that's planned for April 11th near Chicago? GM, though it is aware of the rally, has no plans to send representation. That sound that you hear? That's just the tolling of Hummer's death knell. Thanks for the tip, Brian!
