1993 **rare** Honda Prelude Ssr/si Coupe 2-door 2.3l Manual Transmission on 2040-cars
Bloomington, Indiana, United States
Please inspect this car in person if you are not 100% sure this the the car you are looking to buy. It is 21 years old and driven in winter climates. This car is sold as-is with absolutely no warranty!!! Needs major work!!! The engine needs the exhaust valves replaced (common issue). Currently the car is blowing smoke after it warms up. The previous owner claims to have had the timing belt replaced as well as the clutch (I have no documentation, but this car's 2nd owner was literally a little old lady librarian.) The front suspension squeaks. It needs new ball joints, bushings, etc. The front brakes need replaced. The interior is in great shape for its age. The exterior has rust including both back wheel wells, the sunroof, etc. This car is 21 years old and driven in the snow! IT HAS RUST!! Paint is peeling on the hood. This car is fun to drive and with a little mechanic know how I'm confident it would last another 300,000 kilometers. I also have both cv axles(reman), front rotors/pads(new), and a valve cover gasket(new) that I will be including with the car. The back tires have 95% tread life DZ101's. The front tires are about 50% KUMHO's. This care is a real joy to drive. It really handles the snow extremely well with its weight distribution. The compression on the motor is great (although I have not officially tested it). Please inspect this car in person if you are not 100%confident this the car you are looking to purchase. With $200 in new parts, low mileage, and a 5-speed transmission this car is super rare and a great value. Happy bidding. $500 deposit due within 48 hours via paypal |

NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers
Fri, 08 Jun 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.
Honda Civic Type R caught naked and frisky
Tue, 13 May 2014Honda's upcoming Civic Type R is one of our most anticipated models of the next year - and we probably won't even get it in North America. And yet, each time we see it, the five-door just seems so menacing and purposeful. An all-but-undisguised version has just been spotted by our photographers testing on the back roads in Germany. If this signals what to expect, then the project appears to be coming along nicely.
Compared to the concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, this prototype looks even meaner. Check out those big, blistered front fender extensions, taller wing, deeply sculpted front air dam and 10-spoke gold wheels. The Type R certainly certainly isn't hiding its performance intentions, and it has no reason to. Under the hood, we know it packs Honda's new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 276 horsepower, which is likely connected to a six-speed manual.
Now, if only Honda could find some way to get this machine across The Pond and into the our hot little hands. There has already been an online petition begging the Japanese automaker to find a way, and after recently enjoying an all-too-brief prototype drive, we're ready to sign up.
Latest Honda promo film is a Never Ending Race against emissions
Sun, Feb 16 2014A new Honda promotional video shows clips of a hazy, smog-choked Los Angeles in the 1960s and 1970s, and then gives the company credit for its lead role in cutting vehicle-emissions by a factor of one thousand since 1970. Self-serving? Sure. Then again, this LA-native reporter born in 1970 can't help but be somewhat appreciative. The nearly five-minute video takes a tour through Honda history, showing the Japanese automaker using its experience designing race cars to help develop smaller engines such as its four-cylinder CVCC. An early proponent of California's Clean Air Act, Honda recounts its low-emissions history with the first production low-emission vehicle (the 1996 Civic) and the first production ultra-low-emission vehicle (the 1998 Accord), and says it's approaching "near zero emissions" for its new cars. For anyone keeping track, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said late last year that Honda's 2013 model-year vehicles averaged an even 27 miles per gallon, and that's with a fairly limited number of hybrids and plug-ins sold. That number was up from its 26.6 mpg in 2012 and second only to Mazda's 27.5 mpg among the major automakers. The overall 2013 average was 24.0 mpg.
