This is an all original Third Generation 1989 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si 4-speed automatic manufactured in Japan (with a B20A5 PGM-FI 135 hp engine) with only 84,934 miles.

The Laguna Gold Metallic exterior and Sand Interior are both in excellent condition. No interior rips, tears, stains or cracks in the dash.  There are 3 nickel sized dings on the exterior, and there is a small chip in the windshield (happened last time I drove it - argh!). The car has never been in an accident, never been smoked in, and has a clean title. The oil has been changed every 3,000 miles and regularly maintained as per Honda Service recommendations. The car has new tires, a new battery, and the A/C works - actually, everything works! The speakers rattle somewhat due to deterioration of the paper cones, and the paint on the hubcaps has started to peel, but that's it.

My mom bought this car new in 1989 (I even have the original sales brochure) when she was 68 years old and drove it sparingly. This really was driven by a little old lady! She stopped driving in 2009 and sold the car to me.

The car is a real joy to drive and will be considered a "classic" in less than 2 years. There were only 160,00 third generation (1988-1991) Preludes sold in the United States. The Prelude was "Wheels" magazine Car of the Year for 1987. You won't find a nicer all original Prelude with milage this low.

Serious Inquires only, please. I can email additional photos if you wish. I'm happy to answer any questions.

Honda recalls nearly 350k Odyssey minivans over unintended braking

Sun, 03 Nov 2013

A problem reported with the Vehicle Safety Assist System has prompted Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for Odyssey minivans from the 2007 and 2008 model years.
The issue revolves around a combination of parts and software that have been reported to cause the vehicle to brake hard and unexpectedly, without illuminating the brake lights. Imagine driving behind one of these vehicles when the malfunction occurs and you can easily understand how an unexpected rear-end collision could ensue.
Unfortunately, Honda won't be able to fix the problem until next spring, at which point the manufacturer will call in the 344,187 units affected into their local dealership for a fix. In the meantime, Honda will instruct owners on how to avoid the situation. For further details, see the full recall notice below.

How new car shortages may impact your buying experience

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.

British Honda CR-V looks tough, gets diesel and 9-speed auto

Wed, 01 Oct 2014

Honda just took the wraps off of its thoroughly updated 2015 CR-V for the US, with a touch more style and improved powertrain to provide more torque and better fuel economy. In our First Drive, we found that all of the changes really focused the CUV even more towards the desires of its audience of mostly families. European crossover shoppers don't have to wait too long to see these tweaks for themselves and get a few exclusive upgrades of their own.
While US models get a torquier gasoline engine, Europe loves its diesels. Therefore, the CR-V over there benefits from a more powerful 1.6-liter i-DTEC oil-burner that produces 158 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This new addition is only available on the four-wheel drive version, and it replaces the previous 2.2-liter diesel in the lineup. Also as opposed to the CVT here, there's now an optional nine-speed automatic gearbox across the pond.
According to Honda, the new diesel with a six-speed manual drops emissions by 11 percent compared to its predecessor. Opting for the nine-speed auto makes things 20 percent cleaner in contrast to the previous 2.2-liter CR-V with an auto.
