2004 Honda Insight, 5-Speed Manual Transmission with 196,314 miles
- I purchased this car on July 8th of 2012. Since then, I have experienced some issues with the car as noted in detail below in the Detailed History and Known Issues section.
- I am the third owner of this vehicle and have a clear title issued by the state of Virginia.
- The car currently has 196,314 miles.
- I am selling it because my daily commute to and from work decreased significantly, and more importantly, I plan on moving soon and will not be able to take this and my other car with me.
- Vehicle Number: JHMZE13744T000366
- Engine Number: ECA1-1040367
- Color, Exterior / Interior: Silverstone Metallic / Beige
- 5-Speed Manual Transmission
- A/C (works great)
- CD player (I also added an iPod connection)
- Non-smoker / smoke-free
- 2012, July 8th: Car purchased from second owner. Approximately, 190,300 miles on the odometer. I have the CARFAX Vehicle History Report from back then if you are interested.
- 2012, July 9th ~ 13th: 190,639 miles. During the first week of ownership the Check Engine Light came on. I took it to the local Honda dealership (Williamsburg Honda) and they told me that the check engine light was due to Code P2000 ("Oxides of Nitrogen Trap Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1"). So, the car will need a new catalytic converter (expensive fix!) at some point in the future. At this time I had them do a 5K mile service which included: an oil change (0W20 Mobil), replacement of the transmission fluid, new air filter, new cabin filter, and new spark plugs were installed. The front wiper inserts were replaced as well. They also told me that the left rear shock was leaking, though they didn't note this as an issue on subsequent visits.
- 2012, August 9th: 191,952 miles. New 12V battery installed by Williamsburg Honda.
- 2012, August 24th: The dreaded IMA Light came on... Kept driving the car around with just the gasoline engine with no electric motor assist.
- 2013, February 4th: 196,040 miles. Oil and filter change, and state safety inspection at Williamsburg Honda.
- 2013, April 25th: The car was towed to Williamsburg Honda after it stopped running while I was driving home... Couldn't get it to start-up. First the CD-player quit, then the lights of the dash dimmed and flickered, then the engine quit when I stopped at a stop-light.
- 2013, April 26th: 196,280 miles. The car is now up and running again after being serviced at Williamsburg Honda. During this last service visit, Williamsburg Honda also noted that the valves are noisy and that they possibly need adjusting. They could not duplicate the problem that I had the night before, but, did find "Code 58 in IMA System". Also, they noted, "Tested all was good except 12 volt battery so charged with GR-8 then tested good. Possible temporary failure at this time." Not very helpful... After this "reset" the car is running fine; the IMA Light is now off and the electric motor is assisting the gasoline engine once again. The AUTO idle STOP function is once again working and the check engine light has managed to remain off as well, and it's running like the day I bought it almost a year ago.

2015 Honda Jazz should Fit right in
Wed, Mar 4 2015When is a Honda Fit not a Honda Fit? When it's a Honda Jazz. In other markets around the world, our pleasant little Fit hatchback uses a jazzier nomenclature, but what you're looking at here isn't simply a rebadged version of the car we know and love. For starters, the Euro-spec Jazz uses a 1.3-liter VTEC engine from Honda's Earth Dreams line, tuned to produce 101 horsepower. (The US-spec Fit, meanwhile, cranks out 130 hp from its larger, 1.5-liter engine.) That powerplant is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable unit, and will be the only engine initially available at launch. From there, it's pretty much the same, save the small running lamps that flank the foglamps. The Jazz should fit nicely within not only the Honda lineup, but the booming subcompact class, with lots of onboard technology, excellent packaging (including the company's Magic Seat rear bench), and – we assume – a relatively affordable price point. Check out Honda's Euro-Fit in our fresh gallery of live shots, above. ALL-NEW HONDA JAZZ REDEFINES B-SEGMENT WITH ADDED SPACE, VERSATILITY, REFINEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY - Third generation Jazz based on Honda's global B-segment platform - New 1.3 litre i-VTEC petrol engine from Earth Dreams Technology series - Extra interior space, made versatile with Magic Seats® system - Bold, fresh exterior and refined cabin - New Honda Connect infotainment system - Advanced Driver Assist Systems enhance safety 24.02.2015 -- Arriving in Europe in summer 2015, the third-generation Jazz features bold yet sophisticated exterior and interior design, with unrivalled interior space and versatility. Occupants will benefit from increased refinement and advanced safety and infotainment technologies, as well as a highly efficient and dynamic driving experience. While the newcomer retains the classic Jazz silhouette, it exhibits distinctive contemporary styling including a powerful new face and strong lines. The use of Honda's cleverly packaged new global B-segment chassis means that the latest Jazz is even bigger on the inside. The company's Magic Seats ® system ensures the interior offers unmatched versatility as well as class-leading space, with a range of configurations for carrying cargo and passengers. High-quality soft-touch materials and thoughtful interior design provide a sophisticated ambience.
Florida woman says Takata airbag deployment left her paralyzed
Mon, Jan 26 2015A malfunctioning Takata airbag left a Florida woman paralyzed from the neck down following an otherwise minor car accident last year, a lawsuit filed last week alleges. Patricia Mincey says in court documents that, instead of deploying normally, the driver-side airbag in her 2001 Honda Civic deployed with such force that it injured her neck and rendered her a quadriplegic. The lawsuit accuses Takata and Honda of deliberately concealing information about the defect and taking belated action to protect Mincey and other motorists from airbags that may harm them instead of saving their lives. At least five deaths and 139 injuries have been linked to the flawed airbags in Honda vehicles. "There is a systemic failure of these companies to come clean with information they know very early on of problems," Ted Leopold, Mincey's attorney, tells Autoblog. "Instead of doing the right thing, they try to sweep the problems under the rug until there are so many deaths and injuries they're left with no choice. We saw it with General Motors ignition switches, we saw it with the Toyota unintended acceleration cases and now we see it here." Long History Of Takata-Related Recalls Four days after Mincey's accident, Honda recalled her car as part of a 5,394,000-vehicle recall that sought to repair vehicles in which the airbag inflators could rupture. Her accident took place in Jacksonville, Florida, a state in which manufacturers have said high humidity could cause a heightened risk of problems for Takata airbags. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, according to court documents, and her car was traveling approximately 22 miles per hour. Mincey remains hospitalized in a long-term care and rehabilitation facility near her Florida home, her attorney said. She is seeking compensation in excess of $15,000 for her injuries and punitive damages. Problems with the Takata airbags were discovered as early as 2001, when Isuzu issued the first recall related to high-pressure deployments. But the company continued to manufacture defective airbags, which have subsequently been flagged in dozens of recalls over the past 14 years. Approximately 21 million vehicles have been affected in the United States. Congress conducted hearings on the companies' delayed responses to the safety crisis last year.
Honda Civic Type R on track to smash 'Ring record, eclipse NSX
Wed, 01 Oct 2014Honda has made some serious performance machinery over the course of its history, but few products have been as hotly anticipated as the upcoming new Civic Type R. Following a deep and proud history of Type R Hondas, the latest Japanese hot hatch is continuing its long striptease at the Paris Motor Show this week. But before it does, Honda has released this video clip featuring project leader Suehiro Hasshi - and he has some bold claims to make.
For one, he says it'll be the best Type R yet - and that's quite a statement considering some of its predecessors, including the almighty NSX Type R. Hasshi-san also reiterates Honda's aim of snatching the front-drive lap record at the Nürburgring away from the likes of Renault and Seat, and reports that the Honda team is on track to chew every bit it's biting off. In short, the new Civic Type R ought to be sensational.
