Tucson, Arizona, United States

For your consideration, here's my 2004 Honda Element EX in excellent condition with very low original miles…… 55,030. Straight, incredibly reliable and regularly maintained by Milex Auto Service Center in Tucson (all service records are included in the sale). I purchased my Element in March 2012 after a long search for one with a manual transmission….. they're hard to find. When I located this gem, it had 48,587 original miles and an AutoCheck score of 95…. one owner, no accidents, no issues, confirmed odometer check. What a find!….. it's been one of the best autos I've ever owned. The 5 speed manual is peppy versus the sluggish automatic version and makes you feel like you're driving the Element rather than it driving you. The engine is strong, the body is straight, interior is clean (no rips in seats like many you see), smooth tranny, 4 Goodyear Integrity tires, 16" alloy wheels, excellent EX version AM/FM/CD audio system……. factory color is Satin Silver Metallic. Because the Element has spent its life in Texas and now Arizona, there's no rust. It comes with the original 2004 Owner's Manual, original shift knob (a replacement is currently installed), two keys and one remote, factory mud guards (front & rear) and factory pin striping. I love this versatile SUV, and the only reason I'm selling it is I've recently restored a 1968 Ford Bronco, thus we now have 3 cars…… my wife has a 2007 Honda Element EX with automatic transmission (she prefers auto to manual, otherwise I'd keep this Element). In the April 2014 Consumer Report (page 96), they gave the 2004 Honda Element their top used car Reliability Rating (along with the 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 & 2011 Elements). That said, what we have here is a top-rated, regularly maintained, straight, rust-free Honda Element EX with only 55,030 original miles….. how often do these come around?

Okay, now the tedious stuff…… payment must be made via an official bank check or bank wire….. please do not bid if the funds aren't immediately available. The Honda cannot be picked up until the funds have cleared. Insurance and shipping arrangements and fees are the responsibility of the buyer…… I will drive the Element to the trucker if the rig is nearby. The other option is you come to Tucson and drive it home…… the last two vehicles I sold on eBay (a 1965 Mercedes 220 SE and 1995 Jeep Wrangler) were picked up in that way. The Honda must be picked up within 14 days of winning bid unless prior arrangements are made. The Element is sold AS IS with no warranty of any kind. I reserve the right to advertise the Element locally and end the auction early if it sells. If you have questions, please ask them prior to bidding via eBay's mail system or by phone…….. 520-395-0565. If you are in the area and wish to see the Element, that can be arranged. Good luck and happy bidding!

Honda, GM fuel-cell partnership wants to reduce hydrogen refueling costs

Thu, Feb 27 2014

To paraphrase the old political adage, it's the cost, stupid. Dollar signs are what's prompting Honda and General Motors to partner up to accelerate development of a hydrogen fuel cell system. With about half the cost of a fuel-cell system tied up in its fuel-cell stack, GM and Honda are looking to help each other drive costs down, according to a presentation by GM fuel cell research and development director Mark Mathias said in a presentation at the SAE 2014 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Technologies Symposium. According to Green Car Congress, Honda and GM are looking to reap the fruits of their collective labor by 2020. As with other automakers, the high cost of producing fuel-cell vehicles is the fly in the ointment of a powertrain technology that combines the same range as gas-powered vehicles but with zero emissions. In the meantime, Honda, which makes the very limited production FCX Clarity fuel-cell vehicle, is slated to start selling its own mass-market fuel-cell vehicle in 2015. The two automakers made their partnership announcement last summer and said they contribute to expanding hydrogen fuel infrastructure in California during the next few years. Earlier, Ford, Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and Nissan also said they would work together to speed up fuel-cell technology development.

Honda fixes Fit flaw, improves performance on key crash test [w/video]

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

The Fit's grade on the small-front overlap test improved from "marginal" to "acceptable."
Back in March, safety engineers at Honda were disappointed when the much-anticipated 2015 Fit received a substandard grade on an important crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Honda motorcycles most stolen, just like Honda autos

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

It comes as no surprise that Honda's Civic and Accord are the most stolen cars in America, but as it turns out, thieves like the company's motorcycles the most too, according to a study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). Out of the 46,061 two-wheelers stolen in 2012, 9,082 of them were Hondas. While that's bad news for Honda motorcycle owners, at least motorcycle theft went down slightly from 2011, which had 46,667 reported thefts. Motorcycle theft recoveries, on the other hand, were just 39 percent.
Yamaha is up next in the theft rankings (7,517), then Suzuki (7,017). The numbers drop a bit for fourth and fifth place, Kawasaki (4,839) and Harley-Davidson (3,755). These five brands are far and away the most stolen motorcycles: sixth place, apparently held by scooter, dirtbike and ATV maker Taotao, dropped to 914 theft reports.
California had the most reported thefts (6,082), followed by Florida (4,110), Texas (3,400), North Carolina (2,574) and Indiana (2,334). By city, New York City had the most reported thefts (903), followed by Las Vegas (757), San Diego (633), Indianapolis (584) and Miami (535.
