Hello and Thanks for checking out my car.

If you think this car looks familiar, I've listed this vehicle before, but at the time it had a custom vehicle wrap on it and I think that was limiting it's appeal.  Since the last time I've listed it (last Summer I think), I've removed the wrap and actually had the whole car exterior professionally repainted (at Impact Collision Center, Tulsa OK) at a cost of $4,500.  As much as I'd like to keep the car, in the back of my mind I know I need to let it go, I've had this car for about 12 years now and I'm ready for something different.  Anyway, on to the car...

Engine:

JDM B16a from a 2000 Civic Si
Matching manual transmission (car was automatic)
New Radiator at time of Motor Swap
Cleaner Factory Engine Bay Wiring (also removed P/S, Air, CC)
Duralast Battery
Skunk 2 Chip in ECU (ECU has been upgraded so different program chips can be installed) (also comes with a factory non-vtec ECU)
DC Headers - 4 to 1 configuration - Ceramic Coated
AEM Cold Air Intake
Custom Bent Exhaust, with midpipe to keep it quieter, but increase performance.
Skunk 2 Muffler
Aerospeed Short Throw Shifter

Suspension:

TEIN Super Street Coilovers
Factory Parts that connect to coilovers were color matched to TEIN Green
Rear Trailing Arms and Rear Calipers were replaced when suspension was installed
AEM Big Brake Kit (required upgrade to '97 VTEC delsol from knuckles first, these brakes are HUGE!)
EBC Green Stuff Brake Pads
16" Rota Grid Wheels with color matched lip
Nitto NeoGen Tires, size 205/45 R16 87V
Spoon Sports front Strut Bar

Interior:

Kept mostly stock appearing
Carbon Fiber Garnishes on vents/gauges/door switches
Seats are from a Mazdaspeed Protge and they recline/lift/lower/slide
Alpine CD Head Unit + Alpine 6 Disk Changer
Kicker Door Speakers/Clarion Rear Speakers
2 JL w6 10" Subs in custom Trunk enclosure (roof can still be placed in trunk, as well as full size spare!
Subs can be deactivated with a factory integrated switch, if you want to turn them off.
Windshield mounted amplified antenna
Clear door Glass/Windshield, Tinted rear Glass

Exterior:

Fiber Images Carbon Fiber Hood
Shaved door Handles with Autoloc remote to open
Shaved Gas fill and Antenna
Hidden Rear Trunk Release, no key hole
Paint Color is Nissan Sentra Orange (any shop can repair it!)
Factory Aux lights in bumper illuminate Orange
Second set of hidden driving lights are white (in lower bumper area)
JDM 1 Piece Headlights (real OEM Honda parts)
JDM Licence plate fillers
GT Factory "vertical" door hinges
Rolled Fender Lips (in case you want to lower the coilovers all the way down)
Stock Front and Rear Bumpers and Side Skirts

OK, here's the good and the bad of the car.

Overall, it really is a good car, I've driven it from coast to coast 1 time (Philly, PA to Laguna Beach, CA) and it made the trip flawlessly.  It's a good driving car, no shakes, vibrations, pulling, none of that.  It gets a lot of attention, especially if you open the doors vertically to get out (I just open them as far as they go "regular" and scoot out).  The stereo system is awesome, very clear and very little rattle from the trunk, there are various spots of dynamat back there.  Almost all the sound is sent forward when the trunk is closed.  The head unit can be finicky, it's about 12 years old, and sometimes you have to spin the knob 5 or 6 times to get the volume to start turning up, but once it goes it's fine, typically first thing in the morning.  Also, it can be tricky with CD's when you first put them in, but once they are in it works.  I've come to learn how to make them work, you may want to replace just the head unit if it gives you trouble, the rest of the sound system is good (or just rely on the 6 disk changer).  As I stated above, the car has recently been repainted.  It's a professional job, and looks great, but there is a small line of overspray in the drivers door jamb, not major.  I have a small bottle of touch up paint as well, in case you need it.  I mentioned it's 3rd gear chirp.  This is something new, but if I try shifting too fast out of 2nd to 3rd, it does make a small noise.  It has never popped out of gear or caused any issue, but I want to give full disclosure about the car.  I also have a few extras, an extra ECU (mentioned above), a full set of door glass (roll-up and wing windows that are tinted), and replacement window regulators.  I think I have the stock muffler upstairs as well.

I really encourage you to look at the car before bidding if possible.  I feel it's in really great shape, and will answer any questions you may have about it.  Car is located near Tulsa Oklahoma.  I will also help with delivery (cost can be determined on distance) as long as payment for vehicle and delivery charge is made prior to delivery.  There is a fair reserve set on the car, well within what the car is worth.

Thanks!

Fernando Alonso expects to retire after McLaren-Honda

Fri, Apr 10 2015

When Fernando Alonso was three years old, his father gave him a model of a McLaren-Honda grand prix car. That's where his path to Formula One started, and it's where he wants his career to end as well. Speaking with Autosport, the two-time world champion indicated that he intends to retire after he's done at McLaren, rather than switch to another team. Of course, he didn't indicate just when that would be, but as far as he's concerned, the road ends in Woking. The highly rated and immensely successful Spanish driver has been on the grid for fourteen years now. He started out with Minardi (precursor to Toro Rosso) in 2001, then spent four seasons with Renault, where he scored back-to-back world titles. He then switched to McLaren for one year, where he won four races, then back to Renault for another three where he and the team fell off their form. Fernando subsequently switched to Ferrari where he spent the last five seasons, thrice finishing second in the world championship but never quite managing to clinch an elusive third title. This year he's back at McLaren but has had a bumpy start. After crashing during a pre-season test session, he sat out the season opener, and failed to finish the second round in Malaysia. He's now in Shanghai preparing for this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix. Like this writer, he'll be turning 34 in July, making him the fourth oldest driver on the grid this year. So he's still got a good few years in him, and will likely want to see the troubled rekindling of the McLaren-Honda partnership through to winning form. But while nobody can tell what the future will bring, it looks like any other team that hopes to lure the champ away could end up disappointed.

Honda Civic Type R Concept hits the ground running ahead of Geneva debut

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

We've seen it teased, caught it testing, hell, we've even driven the thing, but until just now, we hadn't been privy to the visual drama that is the all-new Honda Civic Type R Concept. Thankfully, the day before the start of the Geneva Motor Show is about as leaky as Robert Redford's sailboat.
We'll get the full details tomorrow - which may even include a discourse on Honda's 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that will make upwards of 280 horsepower and propel the car to Nürburgring-record-braking velocities. After all, the "Concept" portion of most Honda concept cars is generally lip-service only.
In fact, save for those blacked out windows and, perhaps, a couple millimeters of ride height and those extra-aggro wheels, we pretty much expect the production Type R to look like the beast you see here. Certainly the swooping form and 'roided wheel arches suit the boy-racer persona of the Civic very well; we wouldn't even put it past Honda's funky European arm to sell the final product with some version of that bi-plane wing.

Honda Urban SUV Concept leaks out ahead of Detroit debut

Sun, 13 Jan 2013

Next up on the 2013 Detroit Auto Show embargo-break-a-palooza: the Honda Urban SUV Concept. Thanks to Indian Autos Blog, we now have the first press shots of the small crossover concept - a vehicle that will someday make it to production, riding on the Honda Fit platform.
It may have some big features - namely, the large headlamps, big wheels, and bold body lines - but the Urban SUV Concept will compete with smaller vehicles like the Nissan Juke or Fiat 500L. Indian Autos Blog reports that both 1.6- an 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines are being speculated for use in the production model, as well as a diesel powerplant for foreign markets.
That's all we know for now, but stay tuned to see the full smattering of official images and details as part of this week's Detroit coverage.
