1985 CRX Convertible.  This was a Staman Conversion from the factory.  Badge number ST-1037, stamped on the roof frame.  I am the second owner.  This car has a ton of money into it, but does need some TLC.

Good:  Acura Integra D16a1 engine.  New timing belt, head gasket, water, pump, intake/exhaust gaskets, clutch. Head was overhauled, decked with new valve seals and re-grind.  It has pacesetter header, heavy duty torsion bars, ground control adjustable coil overs in rear.  Newer exhaust from the header back. New spark plugs. Corbeau seats, (don't quite match). Good carpet.  Andy's autosport body kit.  Virtually brand new weber DCOE carbs with high end throttle linkage.  Has breaks from a 91 CRX up front.  Probably some more stuff that I am forgetting.

BAD: Lots of rust.  Floor pans are pretty shot.  Rockers are bad. Rear fenders are bad.  Entire body isn't great, lots of cracks and chips. Front header panel is cracked and falling apart.  No radio. Car starts and run strong but has a rising idle.  The longer you drive the higher the idle goes.  I'm sure this is a carb sync problem/ timing problem, but I don't have time to figure it out, it sound great and rips at high rpm, but idle is bad and all over the place.  If you know webers, you could probably fix this easily, I don't.  I drive the car around town every now and then to keep good gas in it, but not sure I would drive a great distance with the idle problem.

I'm happy to sell parts, or car as a whole. I'd sell the car minus the head/intake, carbs, and header for $1500, and you can drop a fuel injected d16 or B16 into it.  Time to start a different project. Feel free to email with questions.  I have no interest in a trade. Car is AS IS.   THanks!

This is the ad that never ends

Wed, Apr 8 2015

Hondas pretty much last forever, and that's exactly the message the Japanese automaker wants to convey in this latest ad for the 2015 CR-V. It's called Endless Road, created by McGarryBowen in London, and it shows the new midsize crossover driving in a hypnotic, infinite loop. According to AdWeek, this endless road is supposed to convey Honda's never-ending quest to create the best, most advanced CR-V possible. You can see a shortened, embeddable version of the ad above, but what's really cool is the interactive portion that's only available on Honda's YouTube channel. It uses real-time weather data to show the CR-V infinitely driving through day or night, depending on what's happening in your specific part of the world. AdWeek has an interview with McGarryBowen's executive creative director, Angus Macadam, about the new spot, as well as a behind-the-scenes, making-of video, which we've embedded below. Honda builds up new Civic Type R ahead of Geneva debut

Wed, Feb 11 2015

It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here. Or almost there, we should say, because it sadly won't be coming (at least in this form) to the United States. We're talking, of course, about the new Honda Civic Type R – a hot hatch we've been anticipating for about a year and a half now through a series of prototypes and concept cars. It's finally set to bow just weeks from now, in final production form, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. But before it does, Honda is giving us yet another taste of what to expect with a trio of teaser images and some juicy details. That Honda's new hot hatch would be powered by its new 2.0-liter turbo four we already knew, but now the Japanese automaker is telling us that it'll produce enough juice to propel the Euro-spec pocket rocket up to a top speed of 167 miles per hour. In a hatchback. That feat will be enabled in large part by its advanced aerodynamics, elements of which we can begin to see from the teaser images – including a big front splitter, deep side skirts, a giant rear wing and an almost completely flat underbody. It'll also be kept in check by a set of Brembo brakes with 13.8-inch drilled discs clamped by four-piston calipers up front and packed into a unique set of 19-inch alloys. It'll all be wrapped for the show stand in classic Japanese racing white, and we're even given a glimpse inside the cabin, where we can see red-glowing instruments, a red center marker at the top of the steering rim and that +R button we were promised. It's all shaping up to be a rather tempting package indeed, but will have to fend off the likes of the new Ford Focus RS and ever-improving challengers from the likes of Renault and Seat to dominate the European hot hatch scene. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see in what form Honda brings the fight to America, too.

Honda CR-Z carbon-fiber prototype

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

When Honda rolled out the CR-Z a few years ago, it hoped to bridge the gap between those who would save the planet and those who would rather burn all of its resources in a glorious cloud of tire smoke. But enthusiasts recalling the CRX of 1980s vintage balked, imploring Honda to ditch the heavy battery packs and electric motors in favor of a lighter-weight, more conventional powertrain. At this point it seems less likely that Honda would do so at one end of the market than Porsche would ditch the hybrid component of its 918 Spyder at the other. But that doesn't mean Honda isn't still cooking up ways to curb the CR-Z's weight. And it had just one such idea waiting for us when we visited its Japanese R&D center at Tochigi last week.
Nestled in between the JDM hatchbacks, powertrain test mules and new technology prototypes Honda rolled out for us sat the experimental CR-Z you see here. While it may look mostly like the hybrid sport-hatch you can pick up at your local dealer (albeit blacked out), nearly all of this prototype's bodywork has been completely replaced, as have its basic underpinnings, with carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. The exotic material is usually reserved for high-end exotics, but like BMW is democratizing its use in the new i3, so too is Honda researching ways to implement the use of carbon fiber on a mass scale. This one-of-a-kind CR-Z prototype stands, for the time being, as the embodiment of that effort.
