No warrantee, no guarantee, I am a private seller, not a dealer, and I would rather understate the condition of the car. Buyer should use their own judgement about vehicle condition."

The CRX Si you are looking at in the photos here has been a labor of love over the past two years, and even if someone clicks my 'buy it now' price, I will still be losing tons of money on what has been invested in this vehicle, not even counting for the time invested in it.
What started out as a typical used 1G CRX with faded paint, cracked plastics, and sunburned seats with the upholstery and trim moldings beat to hell has slowly but surely been transformed into a really sweet looking car that has been substantially brought back to its former glory, and has also been treated to extensive rust preventing measures to make sure it is more durable than it ever was when it was new.  Just to give you an idea of the level of work that's been put into the car, here is a partial list of what was done to restore it...
PAINT AND BODY WORK
- All trim and body panels removed from the car in preparation for painting.  This includes both front and rear bumpers, wipers, all side molding weatherstrips on fenders and doors, rain gutter trim at top of doors removed, sunroof panel removed, spoiler removed, lower rocker panel plastics and plastic door cladding removed.  The original Si style rocker panel parts were too badly cracked with parts missing to be restored, so a good set of DX rocker panels were enlisted to take their place (did anyone out there notice that?)
- Any large gouges and tears in the bumpers was repaired with plastic epoxy,, filler, and a heat gun, then the bumpers were properly prepped and painted with specially mixed paint with plenty of elastasizers in it.
- Before the painted panels were reinstalled back on the car, we also prepped everything we could to make sure the car is more durable than when it came out of the Honda factory 26 years ago.  All bumper mounts in the front and back were media blasted to clean off any surface rust, then were primed with Rustoleum rust converting black primer, and then top coated with 3 coats of Rustoleum Red which is a really close match to the original Honda red paint, actually!  (and No, the body panels were not painted with Rustoleum at the paint shop! I believe he used Sikkens or Sherwin Williams)  Also, the bumper reinforcement bars were blasted, and treated with "rust encapsulating" or "rust converting" primer, (Rust Bullet) which is impervious to chips, and dries so hard that you can pound on it.  You can be sure that the parts on these cars which typically rust out within a few years will hold up on this car for a long time to come.
- Finally, before the rocker panels and door cladding was reinstalled, and before the interior panels were put back on, we treated every cavity that was reachable with WaxOyl or Fluid-film.  Google these products and you will see there is no better rust prevention coatings on the market.  You can see the photo here in the listing showing the inside of the right rear quarter panel.. see the oily look on the inside skin?  That is the Fluid Film.  It drips down into the welding seams and into every crevice of the body, and prevents moisture and water from collecting there.  It is what every CRX owner in the northeast rustbelt part of the country should do for his car.
- Not only were all the body panels and trim removed from the car in preparation for painting, but every trim part on the car which was baked to a crisp by 20+ years in the Arizona and New Mexico sun was sanded, sandblasted, and stripped of the remaining cracked plastic or paint, and it was refinished with fresh trim paint or (in the case of the window rubbers) restored with fresh rubber.  I am willing to bet that you will never see another CRX which someone has taken such pains and extra time to sweat the details and make every part of it look as close to new as possible.
- Even the wiper arms in front and the back were media blasted and refinished with high quality matte black trim paint and now look superb.  Look at the close up photos below, and notice how the fresh trim against the paint really pops out at you.  Although I am not claiming the paint finish on the car is 'show car' quality (its not, because my budget was limited to $1000 for the paint shop) overall, the car looks really really nice, and this is a CRX that you will be proud to be seen in.

MECHANICAL WORK
Within the last 5,000 miles, the car has had new or replaced
- timing belt, water pump, rear main seal, drive shafts, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, clutch, rear wheel cylinders (rear brakes)
The car starts and runs great.  I have the emissions test that was run on it also and it passes everything with flying colors.  The engine is in great health.

Other Notes
- Someone with a sharp eye will notice a few small parts of the car are missing in the photos (such as the small "CRX" badges on the B-pillar trim, and the carpeting in the cargo area) This is only because I was in a rush to take some photos of the car, and didn't have them installed a couple weeks ago when I shot the photos.  Rest assured, the car does have those items on it, and I can send an updated photo if you want me to.  Some small details that the car is still in need of before it could be called 'finished' are new wiper blades front and rear, new struts for holding up the hatch, and a few bulbs I think are burned out.  I will try to get most of those details taken care of by the end of the listing, but I can't guarantee it.
- I Do have a copy of the Autocheck (carfax) report of the car.  I'm not sure why its not showing up here in the listing.  But I can assure you that, based on both the Autocheck, AND my own personal examination of the car, it does not appear to have ever been involved in a severe accident.  The car is perfect both in front and in back, as far as the frame and chassis.  I have many photos I took while the bumpers were off the car, as well as photos of the underside, and I am happy to show them to you!  The only negative (which is really absurd) on the reports is that someone during the 1990's put down that the true mileage was 'unknown', so that has now followed the car around and they take off points for it.  However, at the same time, the odometer reports were always going up at a normal, sensible pace, and I have no obvious reason to believe that what is showing on the odometer now is not the true miles on the car.  in any case, if you want to see the report, just let me know and I will send you a scanned copy..
- Unfortunately, a few weeks after the car was painted last year, I was out of town when we got hit by hurricane Sandy, and the car was left parked outside my shop here.  During the storm we had 100+mph winds which not only blew over many big trees on our property, but also blew a lot of debris around the yard, and when I got home I found some of my cars with broken windshields and blown up hoods. This CRX escaped relatively unharmed, except for some scratches from things like branches and small stones there were blown into the car very hard.  I have tried to show the detail of this damage in the close ups.  It mostly is apparent on the back of the hatch door and a few spots on the roof.  So, the paint can use some small touch ups if the buyer is inclined to do that.
- The only other item I think is worth mentioning as a negative on the car is that the sunroof mechanism is not working.  While reinstalling the sunroof after it was painted, we checked in to why it doesn't close, and found that there is a small bracket that moves the roof panel in the track, which has broken.  The roof still can be opened and closed by hand, though.  Its just the connecting bracket that goes from the drive cable to the roof panel that broke.  Obviously this part is not available from Honda anymore.  I am currently looking into having a reproduction part made from 3D printing and reverse engineering it. When it becomes available, I will gladly send a replacement to the new owner!
- I will only give the buyer choice of the alloy wheels the car is wearing in most of the photos or the original 'phone dial' wheels if it sells at my 'buy it now' price. Otherwise, the winner will have a choice of taking the car with steelies and good rubber, or a decent set of OEM CRX Si wheels from a 88-89 model, with so-so rubber only. This part is non-negotiable, sorry.  If you want to go crazy with the car, please check one of my other listings, and you'll find a set of black 16" TSW rims that came on one of my other CRX's.  If you like those, we could make a deal to include those, if you wish.
I have many more photos of this car than there is available space to show in the ebay listing.  I highly encourage anyone who is seriously interested in the car to please write to me and I will give you the link to my Skydrive photo sharing website where you can see at least 100 more photos showing many details of the work which has gone in to this car.  I will also happily talk to you to answer any questions about it and tell you more details of the extensive work which has been done to the car.

Overall, for the price I'm asking here (with NO reserve!) this is a deal for a 1G CRX Si that you will not be able to beat anywhere..
   ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
.. I am now working on 2 more CRX Si's which will be available soon. If anyone who's reading this listing is interested in either
1) a twin car to this one ('87 Red Si) except with half the miles on the clock (just over 100k) and even more pristine condition (better seats, interior, carpet, less wear and tear, in superb original condition, also originally a western (AZ and CA) car with No rust at all).... OR
2) a late model '91 CRX Si with a low low 50k ORIGINAL miles, also from AZ (Tucson) with not a spot of rust on it.
feel free to get in touch with me. Either one of these cars could be 'finished to order' for a serious CRX collector/enthusiast buyer,

Honda issues second Fit window recall, this time for 143k units

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Honda has announced it is recalling certain 2007-2008 Fit models in the US to fix what could have been faulty repairs made in a previous round of recalls. The vehicles may have been manufactured with a master driver's window switch that could allow rain water or spilled liquids into the switch. If that happens, the liquids could cause the switch to overheat, melt and potentially damage the vehicle's wiring or cause a fire. Honda says no accidents or injuries have been reported due to the problem, but warns owners to park their Fit hatchbacks outside until a dealer can inspect the switch.
All told, the recall covers 143,083 Fit units. Back in 2010, Honda recalled the 2002-2008 model-year Fit for the same issue. That recall covered some 646,000 units worldwide after a two-year-old child in Cape Town, South Africa burnt to death while sleeping in a Fit. Honda says the repair made during that round of recalls may not have been sufficient, and the latest fix should take care of the problem for good.
You can read the full press release on the latest round of recalls below for more information.

Takata adds millions to recall expansion in US [UPDATE]

Thu, May 28 2015

UPDATE: Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker has advised Autoblog that of the 1,509,535 total vehicles worldwide that the company is recalling, 966,504 of them are new additions for this expanded safety campaign. Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that the Takata airbag inflator recalls would expand to an estimated 33.8 million vehicles in the US. However at the time, automakers weren't sure specifically which of their models might be affected under this enlarged campaign. Now, the numbers for BMW, FCA, Ford, and Mitsubishi are being released by the agency. Additionally, Honda is outlining the broadening of its own campaign. BMW's recall amounts to 420,661 vehicles in the US, an increase from 140,696 previously. All of the following models need their front, driver's side airbag replaced: 2002-2005 BMW 325i/325xi/330i/330xi Sedan 2002-2005 BMW 325xi/325i Sportswagon 2002-2006 BMW 330Ci/325Ci/M3 Convertible 2002-2006 BMW 325i/330i/M3 Coupe 2002-2003 BMW M5/540i/525i/530i Sedan 2002-2003 BMW 540i/525i Sportswagon 2003-2004 BMW X5 3.0i/4.4i BMW has received no reports of any injures or deaths from this problem in its vehicles. FCA has 5,224,845 vehicles globally in need of inflator replacements, according to its statement. However, the company is only aware of one injury related to the issue, which occurred in a 2006 Dodge Charger in southern Florida. There are 4,747,202 vehicles worldwide from the company that are affected on the front, driver's side. Among these, 4,066,732 are in the US, 374,508 are in Canada, and the rest are in other countries. The models are: 2005-2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup 2004-2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup 2006-2009 Dodge Ram 3500 Pickup 2007-2009 Dodge Ram 3500 Cab Chassis 2008-2010 Dodge Ram 4500/5500 Cab Chassis 2008-2009 Sterling 4500/5500 Cab Chassis 2004-2008 Dodge Durango 2007-2008 Chrysler Aspen 2005-2010 Chrysler 300/300C/SRT8 2005-2010 Dodge Charger/Magnum 2005-2011 Dodge Dakota 2006-2010 Mitsubishi Raider Also, there are 438,156 vehicles in the US, according to the NHTSA documents, that need their front passenger's side inflators replaced in the expansion of an earlier regional recall: 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 The total number of vehicles from Ford now covered under these campaigns stands at 1,509,535 worldwide.
