91 Crx Si With Jdm Glass Roof Conversion on 2040-cars
Centreville, Maryland, United States
UP for auction is my 1991 Honda CRX Si project. I bought this car new in 1991 and I kept it for about 5 years. I sold it to a friend and she neglected to change the timing belt so she damaged the engine. I bought the car back from in 2000 with the intention of restoring the car. Shortly after I bought the car my friend's CRX was totaled. He was begging me to buy my CRX so I reluctantly sold it to him. He owned the car for 4-5 years and then slid off of the road. He damaged the front bumper cover, right fender and some of the suspension. I bought it back again in 2005. By the way the car has a clean Carfax. I wanted to restore it but that was put on hold since I purchased a new Acura NSX. It just sat in the garage while I slowly collected new parts for it. I replaced the front bumper cover, hood, both front fenders, both door skins and added the JDM glass roof panel during the body restoration. All parts are OEM Honda. I replaced all of the body parts because they were dinged up a little. I did not want any bondo in this car. This CRX was extremely well kept during my 1st 5 years of ownership. The car was completely RUST FREE before the bodywork was performed!!! The last pic is a pic of one of the quarter panels without rust before the bodywork was started. The car was block sanded with filler primer several times in order to ensure straightness with no waves and all of the panels were painted off of the car so there are no tape lines. I had the painter completely paint the doors (edges and exterior with all hardware removed) and paint into the jambs while leaving the factory labels in place. The glass roof was installed using the factory spot weld locations (they are the same as USDM roof panels) and a BNIB NOS glass roof molding was installed. After the base Tahitian Green Pearl (original color) was painted the car was color sanded before the clear was applied. The clear needs to be wet sanded because I wanted to finish assembling the car first and then wet sand it. The quality of this paint in second to none. The paint used is Sikkens which is one of the top brands on the market. Between the new panels and glass roof I spent over 3000.00 + the paint and body work. The pictures are not great and the car was dusty when I took them. The car looks much better in person. The car needs to be put back to together and I will include the following parts that are BNIB Honda parts. Center console with shift boot, radio bezel with pocket, antenna, shift knob, tail light gaskets, seat belts, cargo cover, rear cargo door that folds down for access to the cargo area (complete with trunk carpet), belt line molding (doors, quarter panels, and fenders), lower cladding for rocker panels and lower door caps, roof gutter moldings, chrome front H emblem, rear quarter glass moldings (rubber that surrounds glass), door sash / pillar moldings), fender liners, electrical portion of ignition switch, clutch cable, speedo cable, rear license plate holders, new headlight assemblies complete with bulbs, rear trailing arms, compensator arms and control arms (passenger side trailing arm is bent). Like I said all of these parts are BRAND NEW IN BOX from Honda. Most of theses parts are no longer available. Here is a list of additional parts that are used and in mint condition. I have the complete carpet from a low mileage salvaged car. I think it only has about 15,000 mile on it and it is VERY CLEAN. Climate control panel without cracks, cargo box, rear interior plastic (the both have minor cracks where they wrap around the trailing edge of the door openings which are easily repairable), NEAR MINT interior door panels (no seatbelt tears), e brake cover, glass roof headliner, glass roof map light, glass roof rear view mirror, center and passenger side tail light ( you need a driver side light), original seats with no wear (just had new foam installed), exterior door handles, 5 speed transmission, marker lights and front turn signals which are in exceptional condition. I could be forgetting something ... HA ! I will include 2 engines with the car. I have the original short block which requires a rebuild. In addition I have a built high compression (11:1 ?) engine with eagle rods, ARP bolts and Endyn pistons. Bottom end was just refreshed and the head was just rebuilt by Endyn with ported and polished, head, larger valves etc. I have a D16 vtec intake manifold too. You will need a distributor, ecu, header, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors. Car does not have the engine or transmission installed. The car also needs a windshield and the driver side rear quarter window will be installed prior to your purchase. I do not have a set of wheels for this car other than what you see in the pics. There are probably a few things that I forgot to mention. I am selling the car "AS is" since it is a project. I hate to get rid of it but I am looking at buying another car and I need the space. If make any offers please consider how much you are getting in NEW PARTS and what has been spent on the car. Just the bodywork, paint and glass roof cost about $10K. I think that you cannot have a nicer car than this one once it is completed. It would probably only take a few weeks to complete it. If I do not get the right offer I will sell just the rolling chassis and sell off all of my BNIB parts for good money. I would rather sell the car as a complete package though. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you pick up this car in person because of the large parts inventory. They will not all fit in the car so you will need a pickup and trailer. Mugen works up 2014 Honda Fit
Fri, 06 Sep 2013It turns out the Mugen really is fast. Just yesterday we got our first official look at the JDM version of the all new Honda Fit. In both Hybrid and minty-fresh RS trim, the Japanese Fit is more complexly surfaced and angular than in any of the previous generations. Mugen has apparently been working with the new Fit body for a while, as the tuning house has just released some images and information about parts for the new hatchback.
Suddenly the original Honda styling seems somewhat restrained.
Mugen has crafted body kit parts to work with both the Hybrid and RS models, right from go. Though detailed information is still a little sparse, we're told that parts include: two types of front spoilers, a bumper and a chin spoiler, side skirts, and a carbon fiber rear wing (for the RS).
2015 Honda Civic Type R First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Jun 19 2015"VTEC just kicked in, yo." What's now a tired meme was once the greatest part of Honda ownership: the abrupt switch in power and tone as the engine's variable valve timing switched to the high-rev profile. The original VTEC gave way to i-VTEC, a continuously-variable system that works better on paper, but lacked the two-mode thrill. Fast forward to the 2015 Civic Type R, which combines modern VTEC with turbocharging for the first time on this nameplate. It's a pair as perfect as peanut butter and jelly. Or Han and Chewie. With ratings of 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet, it's the most powerful Civic ever sold. Boost just kicked in, yo. The Civic Type R has always been an object of unfulfilled desire for enthusiasts in the US and Canada. While Europe and Japan have had multiple generations of the hottest Civic, we made do with the less powerful versions carrying the Si badge. Unfortunately, the 2015 model is another one we can't have. That said, this Euro-spec car's heart will form the basis of a new Civic Type R that's coming to America, possibly as early as 2016 as a 2017 model. The US will even get a cool five-door hatchback shell similar to the one you see here. If the next North American model – previewed by the coupe concept from this year's New York Auto Show – is any indication, our tenth-generation Civic is headed in a welcome styling direction. And before the Type R arrives, sweet turbo/VTEC goodness is promised in the form of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will power less sporty Civic models, including an Si that will slot below the Type R. There is an anchor's worth of stopping power available. Proving how focused the new Type R is towards gearheads, the sole transmission option is a six-speed manual, which makes it easy to exploit the engine's 7,000 rpm redline and 6,500 rpm power peak. This engine-speed ceiling is a thousand revs lower than the last naturally aspirated Type R. Indeed, the era of turbocharging seems like the end of Honda's history of screaming high-rev motors. But forced induction trades revs for torque. The new car has more than twice the oomph of the previous, 198-hp Type R. Our question then, is if that power and torque come with any character. The 2015 Honda Civic Type R is a very capable car, both on the street and at the track. We expected a stiff ride, but it's not bone-jarring. Double-jointed front struts and a clever knuckle design isolate steering from the up-and-down movement of the suspension.
BMW tops Consumer Reports 2023 Brand Report Card
Thu, Feb 16 2023Feels like we wrote about Consumer Reports' 2022 Brand Report Car and 10 Top Picks a few weeks ago, but it was last April. So the mag is back with a ranked roster of 32 brands and 10 vehicles in four categories for your debating pleasure. Starting with the brands, last year's top three were Subaru, Mazda and BMW. This year, the Munich crew climbed two spots to win the prize thanks to "Superb road test scores and solid results in CR’s reliability and owner satisfaction surveys." Subaru narrowly fell to second, maintaining its four-year run in the top three. Mini, eighth last year, jumped five spots to get the last step on the podium. The rest of the top 10 were Lexus (up one spot from last year), Honda (down one spot from last year), Toyota (up three), Genesis (up 12), Mazda (down six), Audi (down three) and Kia (up eight). The magazine and testing outfit says its Brand Report Card "[reveals] which automakers are producing the most well-performing, safe, and reliable vehicles based on CRÂ’s independent testing and member surveys," and that "Brands that rise to the top tend to have the most consistent performance across their model lineups." Last year's top 10 had six automakers from Japan, three from Germany (giving Mini credit for England), none from the U.S. or South Korea, and five luxury brands. This year's list counts five makes from Japan, two from Germany because Porsche fell out of the top ten, two from South Korea, still none from the U.S., and four luxury brands. Buick again ranked as the best domestic, dropping to 12th after being 11th last year. The big mover was Lincoln, its 10-place jump up to 16th attributed to better reliability from the Corsair and Nautilus. Tesla's improved overall reliability saw it climb six spots to 17th. Dodge climbed one spot to 15th. Jeep got out of the penalty box in last to come second-to-last. Land Rover fell three places into the penalty spot. CR's top 10 vehicle models The 10 Top Picks list is practically a new list. Only two holdovers made it to 2023, those being the Subaru Forester and Kia Telluride.
