CONDITION (Important, please read)

Exterior: 6/10 Could certainly use a few touch-ups here and there, but very clean for a CRX/EF. Windshield is cracked, but it hasn't spread since I've owned the car. Paint is coming off/small dent on driver's side (see pics), minor scratches here and there. The paint job was done with a gun; it's not perfect by any means, but it looks better than a lot of DIY jobs I've seen out there. Also, I had a separate key for the doors/trunk, but I lost it. The trunk is locked, and the passenger door can lock, but if you want to lock the driver's side door, you'll need to get a key made. The mesh wheels have regular wear and tear, but shine up nicely.

Interior: 8/10 No headliner, but the metal is rust-free, clean, and like-new. Some small scratches and blemishes on driver's side pillar. A/F still needs to be hooked up, I just haven't had time to get around to it. No stereo at the moment due to gauges occupying all available DIN space. But you could install one with some creative mounting, or in the glove box for that stealthy feel. Interior is in good condition for a 23 year old car. Seats have a few small blemishes/marks, and the tear mentioned above, but otherwise very clean.

Mechanical: 8.5/10 Everything works flawlessly and reliably. For a built and turbo'd motor, I still get 32+ MPG on the highway. CEL for code 9 has shown since the build/swap, and there is a subtle head tick -- the valves may need slight adjusting, but it runs great and pulls strung and hard just the way it is. Clutch grabs hard and strong, no grinds, pop-outs, etc. Doesn't burn, leak, or smoke oil or coolant. Temp always stays cool, even after spirited driving. The clutch "chatters" a little bit, but this is perfectly normal for a 6 puck unsprung clutch. No slips whatsoever. Brakes are strong as well. The only thing this car will potentially need is new tires in the next few months, and maybe an alignment ($75 at your local tire shop). Just rotated the tires the other day, however.

All bulbs, turn signals, brake lights, headlights, high beams, etc. work great.

This car is loud, fast, and tons of fun. But just to give fair warning, if you've never driven a 6 puck unsprung clutch before, it's going to take some serious getting used to. The engagement point is very specific -- you just can't slip it in first. It took me about 2 weeks to get used to it, but I daily drive it now with no problems!

This car is (believe it or not) my third CRX. She's an absolute joy to drive, but it's time to let someone else enjoy it. Feel free to ask any questions you like. You can message me through ebay or shoot me a text at 513-824-1430. Please no calls (I work during the day), texts are fine any time, 24/7, though it might take me a little while to get back to you if I'm in the middle of something or sleeping.

Cash or cashier's check only. Local pickup only. Clean OH title in hand. Buyer is responsible for pickup within 7 days of auction end.

Honda Vision XS-1 Concept looks like a sportier Vezel [w/video]

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

We've talked a lot about the Honda Vezel over the past few months, as the Autoblog staff is looking forward to the Fit-based CUV. It's a handsome little vehicle, that we think will do quite well when it finally arrives in the US market. That said, it's not a particularly exciting vehicle to look at.
Along with the appearance of the Mugen-tuned Vezel at the Tokyo Auto Salon, though, a new concept that's being shown by Honda today at India's Delhi Auto Expo has us hopeful for a Vezel that looks a bit more assertive. It's called the Vision XS-1 Concept, and it's a seven-passenger (yes, seven) crossover that features minivan-style sliding doors. It sports Honda's "Exciting H Design," which is the same design philosophy used by the stylists that penned the new Fit. Unfortunately, at the moment, Honda has provided exactly zero details about what powers its new concept.
As a concept for the Indian market, which is home to some of the tightest, most congested roads on the planet, the stylish XS-1 is meant to demonstrate that Honda knows a thing or six about building compact vehicles. In that regard, we think it's a spot-on piece of work. Let us know what you think of it in Comments, but first, have a look up top for a gallery of images and then scroll down for a brief video and the official press release from Honda.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Honda Passport 4WD

Sun, Nov 20 2022

The suits at American Honda Motor Company must have spent the bulk of the 1990s tearing out their hair in frustration as their rivals raked in big money from the sales of ever-more-profitable SUVs, even as American car shoppers lost interest in sedans and hatchbacks. Oh, sure, the Civic-based CR-V appeared here for the 1997 model year and sold well enough, but the lack of a larger SUV pained Honda more with each passing year. With the Acura MDX and Honda Pilot not ready for showrooms until the 2001 and 2002 model years, respectively, some stopgap had to be found. Isuzu stepped up and made a deal with Honda: the Rodeo would get Honda badges and become the Passport, while the Trooper would show up in Acura showrooms with SLX badges (for the 1994 and 1995 model years, respectively). Here's one of those Passports, found in a Denver-area self-service yard. Things got even weirder in the Isuzu/Honda world around the turn of the century, with the Honda Odyssey getting Isuzu badges and being sold as the Oasis. Fast-forward to 2009, and the only Isuzu-badged vehicles available new here were rebadged Chevrolets: the I-Series pickup (Chevy Colorado) and the Ascender (Chevy Trailblazer). The Passport name has some interesting American Honda history, stretching back to the first Honda vehicle sold here (and the biggest-selling motor vehicle in human history): the Super Cub. American Honda Motor Company couldn't use the Super Cub name on our shores, because Piper Aircraft had been selling a small plane called the Super Cub since 1949, so the motorcycle was called the Honda 50 over here. Eventually, this bike got a 70cc engine and became the Honda C70 Passport, sales of which continued through the middle 1980s. That means the Passports sitting in your local Honda dealership right now got their name from a one-cylinder motorcycle. General Motors has a Passport connection as well; when GM created the Geo brand to sell rebadged Isuzus, Suzukis, and Toyotas in the United States, it created a marque called Passport to sell the Daewoo LeMans as the Optima in Canada (all the other vehicles sold by Passport dealers were Isuzus). So, Honda's need to offer SUVs in its American dealerships led to an arrangement with GM-connected Isuzu to sell these trucks with a model name bearing links to both companies. So much history in the junkyard! Just as Geo-badged Toyota Corollas (mostly) got Delco radios, so did the Passport get Honda radios.

Honda airbags are being stolen

Mon, Oct 15 2018

The latest hot target for car thieves might just be the airbag mounted inside your steering wheel. And late-model Honda and Acura vehicles are a particularly hot target right now, for reasons not well understood. USA Today reports that criminals across the country are stealing airbags out of relatively new Honda models for apparent resale online or to black market repair shops. It's a trend that has caught the attention of law enforcement agencies in cities like Miami, New York City and Washington D.C. The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) estimates that around 50,000 airbags are stolen each year. In Miami-Dade County, thieves stole 875 airbags in 2017, up from just 13 in 2013, according to police records obtained by USA Today. In the Virginia suburbs outside Washington D.C., thieves recently smashed the windows of 10 Hondas at an apartment complex to steal the airbags. Second Lt. Jonathan Bryant told the local Fox affiliate that stolen Honda airbags often end up in chop shops and can command between $300 and $500 each. A quick search of eBay listings for Honda steering wheel airbags turns up results being sold for as high as $700, though most are listing for hundreds less than that. New replacement versions purchased from dealerships approach $1,000. Many dishonest repair shops install the stolen airbags as new and charge the owner or their insurer full price for the replacement, a version of insurance fraud. Last year, police in Coral Springs, Fla. published an alert on the neighborhood social networking site Nextdoor urging residents who own a Honda or Acura to park in a garage or well-lit area, "or if you have another vehicle, pull it as close to your driver's side door as possible," they wrote. "We have seen an increase in airbag thefts, primarily in Acura and Honda models," the posting added. "The suspect(s) often disarm the alarm by cutting the battery, punch the driver side door lock or smash the window. It is believed these criminals take approx. 5-10 minutes to steal the airbag." One theory for the apparent rise in airbag thefts is that a spate of airbag recalls in recent years — including the ongoing recall of nearly 50 million potentially explosive Takata airbag inflators that left suppliers scrambling to make new parts — may have boosted demand for replacements. Most of the vehicles involved are late-model Honda Civics and Accords, but it's not clear exactly why Honda is being targeted.
