38 MPG highway and 29 MPG city.  The fuel milage alone will pay for the car in a few years at todays and tomorrows high gas prices.  Family owned since new.
Engine runs perfect, smooth and quiet.  Drives excellent with no, squeaks, shimmies, rattles, bumps or anything else.  Nothing major is wrong with this car.  I unexpectantly got a new car from work  and I am just selling this as it is an extra car.  This is one of the best quality cars on earth as any consumer report, or any other car guide will show these as highly reliable.  I have no doubt that you could get another 200,000 miles on this.  It you look at the cost, quality, MPG miles left on this, this is a very smart buy and you will find it very tough to get more miles for your dollar anywhere. Stereo sounds great no blown speakers or anything else wrong.  As you can see from my feedback I am a very honest seller and find that when perfectly honest, then everyone is happy.   I will go through every thing that I have found wrong with this car.  It was bought new, never been in a flood, no major accidents, etc.  There is nothing else that I know of that is wrong with this than what is listed below.  The miles driven are typically between Birmingham Michigan and Toledo Ohio (many many trips of this trip) and just trips to local stores, school, etc.  We drove it to Washington dc about 5 years ago. It was mostly my wifes car so it always got driven a few times a week, and has never sat for more than a week without driving.  She has a feather foot and I have never been in the car and experienced here pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor.

1. The most major thing, is the hood release handle in the interior it has had the handle broke off which is very common on this era of Honda's.  I have a picture of how it can be opened with a pair of vice grips, which you can store in the glove box.  I will include these free of charge.  It is actually quite easy to open the hood this way.  I also bought a whole new wire and handle at the Honda dealer.  I never got around to installing it as my life is very busy.  I will include this in the action free.  you can either install this yourself, or have someone do it or just use the vice grips to open the hood.  No one will know this but you, as it is hidden from view of all other passengers.

2. A few small tree branches fell on the roof.  I have taken several pictures of these. The paint is still good, it just has a few smaller indentations.  most are on the roof, so you really do not notice them much.  I am sure someone could pop these out very cheaply, as these are very small and it looks like the metal would just pop right back.

3. This car was driven in ohio for 5 years of its life and the other 5 years was in Michigan.  With a car this old, there is some rust, however, it really is not bad, as no rust has gone to the exterior or any other visible surface of the inside or outside of the car.  The trunk and linings around the trunk have no rust that I saw.  I have not lifted it up on hoist to view the bottom, however crawling under and taking a quick look, the frame and undercarriage look very sturdy still.  from what I saw the undercarriage showed no rust, but like I say, I just looked under the back.  The frame some rust, but look structurally safe and sound. The are small spots here and there that are rusty, like screws, some piece in engine compartment etc.  I do not think it would be an issue for quite awhile.  In fact for the rust to go through the body, I would guess it may be 5 to 10 years before anything would be visible from the outside, and it may even be more as many of the places rust would come through are plastic.  It does appear that this was rust proofed when new.

4.  Some one backed into this as it was parked.  It was at a very low speed impact.  It took some paint off the bumper. I took a close up picture of it.  I would guess touch up paint would fix this.  Since it is plastic, rust will not be an issue and I would think you could just leave it as it is, as it is not really that noticeable.

5.  There is a small flaw in the front bumper that I took a picture of.  Maybe it is a manufacturing flaw, I am not sure.  It is just a small protruding dot that the paint is off.  It is a mystery to me and I am just putting it down, so I can include every single thing known by me so that there are no surprises for you. It is in the plastic and not metal.

6. The front driver window has a small stone chip. It is very small and I think insurance companies let you fix this free if you call them as they consider it fixing a safety issue and it will not cost you more in policy.  It is out of the line of driver sight and very small so I never spent the time to fix it as it is not growing or anything.

7. The passenger back window does not go up with just the switch.  You need to give it a little pull on the top of the window to get it started and then the power will work.  Not really a big deal as you will be using air conditioning and rarely if ever even lowing this window.

8. The drivers side door lock key hole does not work well.  Usually if you move the key in kind of a weird way it will work.  I have on occasion after it not working after 6 tries, gone to the passenger side, which works perfectly and opened the doors from that side.  It is rare though and the drivers side will usually work after moving it around maybe flipping the key over and trying it a few times.

9.  That is all that I can think of.   It is a 10 year old car after all so there will be small wear and tear items that you would expect in any old car like this, like some stains in the carpet, although every thing seems very clean and no burns, tears, etc.  You could shampoo the floors and they will look cleaner, although they are pretty good.  We have treated this car right, as we were planning on keeping it for a very long time and where not expecting a surprise car through my job.  We have changed the oil more than recommended in the manual. We have taken it to the car wash when dirty and gotten the works with protecting wax, undercarriage flush, etc.  I have replaced it with top of the line good year tires and my wife also replaced it with tires and I am not sure if they are top of the line or not, but they look pretty good, and all 4 tires are and look relatively new.  We have had break pads replaced about a year ago.

You may have this inspected by you or a professional before the auction ends.  You can email me to set up a time that is good for both of us.  You may also test drive it before auction ends.  If you live out of state and wanted to fly, take a train or a bus, I can meet you at the station and then you can just drive it away.  I have full faith that this will drive across country with 0 issues and you could probably do this several hundred more times with just like a new car.  Bid to win.  Enjoy your highly reliable car.  Congratulations on being a smart consumer and finding this as this will save you tons of money. Good luck with your bid.  All sales final with the expectation that you will examine the car before you buy.  I am generally available on Wed-Saturday  from dawn to dusk and and Sun-Tuesday only from 8pm-9pm.

Honda thumbs nose at fleet sales, claims it leads in key vehicle segments

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Fleet sales are a way of life in the automotive industry. There are many non-retail customers that need vehicles, but going too far can reduce brand image and vehicle resale value. While some of its competitors have fleet sale that account for up to 20 or 30 of overall sales, Honda is bragging that it has the lowest fleet sales of all mainstream automakers for the first five months of 2013.
After calculating new-car registration data from R.L. Polk, Honda says that just two percent of its sales through went to fleet customers compared to an industry average of 19 percent. Even though this means Honda leaves plenty of sales on the table each month, it also claims to have the highest resale value and lowest cost of ownership among its competitors. In terms of retail sales, Honda says that the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Odyssey all lead their respective segments, and it breaks down/brags about its retail sales success in the press release, which is posted below.

2015 Civic Type R will make 'at least' 276 hp from 2.0L turbo [w/video]

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Honda may not actually be showing off the production form of its upcoming Euro-only 2015 Civic Type R at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it did take advantage of the focused media attention to make a pretty cool announcement. In addition to dropping a really hot video of the new Type R testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Honda Europe president, Manabu Nishimae, gifted us with some juicy details about the coming hot hatch.
Nishimae confirmed rumors that this Type R would make use of a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, while telling us that the mill would be good for an output of "at least 280 PS." A raw conversion from PS (metric horsepower) to standard horsepower gives us a figure of about 276 hp, or very near the rumored figure of 300 galloping, front-wheeled ponies.
The company will need each ounce of output from its new 2.0-liter engine if it is to meet its stated performance target: making the Civic Type R the fastest front-wheel-drive production car around the 'Ring. Apparently this last session of testing, with World Touring Car Championship driver Gabriele Tarquini at the wheel, has already gotten Honda close to the lap record. Scroll down to read Honda's brief press release about the upcoming Type R, and, more importantly, to listen to the car as it's throttled around the track.

Vehicles awarded IIHS Top Safety Pick awards skyrockets for 2015 [w/video]

Wed, Dec 24 2014

By practically every measure, passenger vehicles in the US are continuing to get safer. With the year rapidly coming to an end, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is releasing its annual list tallying of the scores for the latest vehicles to see how they compare to last year. Judging by the agency's evaluations, the numbers look quite positive. According to the institute, 71 vehicles earned either the Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ rating so far in its testing for 2015. Among the latest winners, there have been 33 TSP+ awards and 38 TSP medalists. That's a healthy increase over the 22 TSP+ and 17 TSP grades in 2014. The figures appear even more impressive when you consider that it keeps getting harder to earn the + designation. In the latest round of testing, a vehicle must offer some form of front crash prevention automatic braking to get the mark. Previously, just a warning to drivers was necessary. This list also illustrates the ways that automakers adapt to new testing procedures. In 2013 there were 117 TSP ratings and 13 TSP+ awards. Then, the IIHS mandated that to be a safety pick, a model had to score Good in the institute's four crash tests, plus a Good or Acceptable in the small overlap front test. That brought a plunge in 2014 to just 17 TSP grades. With the numbers climbing again, companies apparently have deciphered how to perform better. Some brands especially stood out on this year's list. The IIHS praised Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Acura for offering standard front crash prevention systems on some models. Subaru received at least one of the awards for all seven of its models. Toyota also had seven, and the Honda brand did too – though the institute counts the two- and four-door versions of the Civic and Accord separately. Check out the full announcement below and a video about this year's winners. The full list can be viewed, here. Safety gains ground: More vehicles earn top honors from IIHS The number of vehicles earning either of the Institute's two awards has jumped to 71 from 39 this time last year, giving consumers more choices for optimum protection in crashes. The number of winners in the top tier - TOP SAFETY PICK+ - has increased by 11 for 2015, despite a tougher standard for front crash prevention. "This is the third year in a row that we are giving automakers a tougher challenge to meet," says IIHS President Adrian Lund.
