Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, United States

For sale is a cypress green 1996 Honda Civic LX sedan. This car has been totally rebuilt and turbocharged with less than 7,000 miles on most everything. Body has about 219,000 miles. I have been putting my heart and soul (along with blood and tears) into this build, but I'm at a point in life where I don't have time for this hobby and I'd like to buy a house.
The list of things done to this car is lengthy:
Cylinder Head:

97 EX VTEC head (VTEC is all wired and pinned to the ECU, but doesn't work because the computer wasn't programmed for it)
Supertech valve springs
new OEM Honda valve stem seals
ARP head studs
Black wrinkle painted valve cover
All new Honda OEM gaskets

Engine Block:

96 LX block
Bored over to 75.5mm stock sleeves
75.5mm YCP Vitara pistons
Custom length forged rods from RC Autoworks (to bring compression ratio up to approx. 8.5:1)
Custom ground block to allow clearance for rods
ARP rod bolts
Polished crankshaft
ACL Race main and rod bearings
All new Honda OEM gaskets

Gates Racing timing belt
New Honda OEM water pump
New Honda OEM timing belt tensioner

Steel oil pan with welded -10 AN turbo oil return fitting
Magnetic oil drain plug
Detergent free 30wt oil used for proper break-in procedure, then only Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30 oil used

D16Y8 intake manifold port-matched to integra LS 60mm throttle body (uses the LS throttle body gasket)
Hondata thermal intake manifold gasket (reduces intake air temps)
Speedfactory 4 bar map sensor
Lancer Evolution 560cc fuel injectors with adapter harness and resistor box (no wiring hacks)
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Ebay 2.5" aluminum intercooler piping kit with silicone couplers and T bolt clamps
Lancer Evolution front mount intercooler
Genuine HKS blow-off valve (sounds awesome)

New Precision 5431 MFS turbocharger
• MFS (Machined From Solid) 54mm inducer compressor wheel
• "E" compressor cover 3.0" inlet/2.0" outlet
• 57mm exducer T31, 76 trim turbine wheel
• Turbine housing:
- T3 .63 A/R with 5 bolt discharge (without wastegate hole)
• 360° journal bearing system
Custom cold-air intake in driver's wheel well
Heat wrapped Ramhorn exhaust manifold
Tial 38mm Wastegate (15 PSI spring) recirculated into exhaust (no annoying loud wastegate)
2.5" V band exhaust with upstream O2 sensor and Aem UEGO wideband O2 sensor
2.5" stainless exhaust turbo-back NO Catalytic convertor
(car will not pass emissions, it has been converted to OBD I)
Cheap Ebay axle-back muffler actually sounds great, not loud or raspy at all

Engine Management:
OBD I PO6 ECU from Phearable.net
Converted to a VTEC computer
VTEC is wired in and pinned to the Ecu harness (Vtec does not work due to the ECU program)
OBD II to OBD I conversion harness
Tuned on Chrome On 93 octane by Beeyond Engineering
Tuned with boost leak and bad wastegate- maxxed out at 250whp @ 18 PSI
Changed to Tial wastegate, fixed vacuum/boost leak, and did mini-me swap (VTEC head) since then WITHOUT getting re-tuned.
Fuel cut is at 18PSI (cannot go higher)
With a new tune this setup can easily hit 350 HP

Transmission:
Stage 4 Competition Clutch
Stock flywheel
Transmission has had no work done besides all new Honda OEM external oil seals
And short-throw shifter
Slight occasional grind has just started into third (like last 500 miles and doesn't happen all the time, just trying to be honest) seems like it happened when I switched from Royal purple to Mobil 1 gear lube. Maybe a switch back is the cure
My next project would be an MFactory limited slip differential and rebuild the transmission, but I do not have the time or funds for that at this point in my life.
Tires do spin in second gear, it's cool, but traction is speed!
Axles are Newer stock replacements, maybe 30,000 miles on them

Tires are Falcon Azenis with a lot of tread left
Wheels are QT Alloys 16" stripped, primed and painted metallic black by me (paint is chipping, doesn't look awful)
Black locking lug nuts
Also have 4 original steelies with hubcaps (tires are not good)

Suspension/brakes:
New Koni shocks
Tein S tech lowering springs (perfect drop, Perfect Ride)
All polyurethane bushings except rear trailing arm and rear compensator arm, which are New OEM Honda bushings
Civic SI rear sway bar
All 4 New Timken wheel bearings
New slotted/drilled front rotors
New front upper control arms, all new ball joints
Tie rods are new, but the boots are already cracked (kind of upset about that) may need to be replaced soon

Interior:
White faced gauges with LED lighting
Autometer Phantom boost and mechanical oil pressure gauge (steel braided -3an oil line doesn't leak) mounted in gauge bezel
AEM UEGO wideband white faced gauge in single pod on A-pillar
Blitz turbo timer installed in coin pocket
HDI electronic boost controller has a high and low setting that can be adjusted from inside the cabin electronically. It controls a MAC valve in the engine bay that regulates the pressure the wastegate sees
Black and tan interior plastic pieces (not painted, actual OEM Honda)
RSX type S Titanium (tan) leather front seats custom fitted to the civic bolt locations
All airbags still intact and hooked up
Stock tan cloth rear seats
Aftermarket speakers in front doors and rear deck
NO stereo, an adapter harness is already wired in as well as wiring for a subwoofer in the trunk
NO cruise control
NO air conditioning
"rattler" brand aftermarket keyless entry
Passenger front power door lock doesn't work
Slight squeaking noise from rear drums (new shoes will be included, but not installed)

Type R polyurethane black front lip
M3 style side mirrors with LED arrow blinkers, painted to match the car
Projector headlights with LED halo and the inside painted to match the car
Body isn't perfect, dents on driver's side rear door and dents on passenger's front door (ill try to show this in the pictures)
Windshield has a crack
OEM rear spoiler was installed and has a little clear coat peeling
I like to say "all go and no show"

This car still averages 30 MPG with "spirited" driving!!

Local test drives for SERIOUS buyer's only with me or my father ONLY, I've learned that lesson.
Thanks for looking, Message me (Adam) for more info or to set up a time to view the car. Please keep in mind, I live in Oconomowoc and I also work 3pm-11pm weekdays, so mornings will be the best bet

Deposit is due immediately at auction end, and full payment will be expected within 7 days

Honda Tourer BTCC car lavished with photographic love

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

Back in December, Honda Yuasa Racing gave us one image of the Civic Tourer entrant it's fielding in the 2014 British Touring Car Championship. Thanks to media days at Brands Hatch and a few photos from Oulton Park, we've got a whole photo album of the elongated Civic that will attempt to continue Honda's BTCC winning ways and shots of drivers Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal.
This is the first wagon to race in the BTCC since 1994, when Jan Lammers and Rickard Rydel had just one year to throw the Volvo 850 Estate BTCC between the kerbing. The following year, the rules were changed so that rear wings couldn't extend above the roofline or beyond the rear bumper, which meant the end of Volvo's blue and white "pizza delivery wagon."
The season begins on March 30 at Brands Hatch, when Shedden and Neal will begin trying to wrest the driver's championship crown from Pirtek Racing. We don't know anything more about the manufacturer entry go-fast Civic Tourer, however, which means this is just an easy feast for the eyes. Because racing wagon.

Honda Civic poised to get new Earth Dreams engines

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

When Honda executed its emergency refresh of the Civic for 2013, it didn't do any massive powertrain reworking. But that doesn't mean new things aren't already in the works for Honda's compact. According to Automotive News, Honda has confirmed that it will offer the Civic with a new Earth Dreams powerplant sometime in the future, though details on timing and exactly what sort of engine are unclear as of this writing.
The confirmation comes from Honda's executive vice president and regional director for North America, Tetsuo Iwamura, who says that the Earth Dreams engine will come when the Civic is re-engineered or redesigned, not during a refresh. There is also no mention of whether these changes will apply to just the standard Civic, or if the Si and Hybrid models will receive some Dreamy new tech, as well.
The entire Earth Dreams group of technologies encompasses more than just naturally aspirated engines with direct injection. A turbo-diesel engine is also part of this suite, as are new continuously variable transmissions and new gasoline-electric hybrid powerplants. Honda launched its 2.4-liter and 3.5-liter Earth Dreams engines in the redesigned 2013 Accord.

Weekly Recap: Kia leads Korea's quality surge

Sat, Jun 20 2015

The rapid rise of Korea's auto brands in the US market has been apparent on the sales charts for several years, and now it's showing up in an area that's just as crucial: quality. Kia and Hyundai earned the highest rankings among mainstream brands in the J. D. Power Initial Quality Study released on Wednesday. The study tracks problems owners report during the first 90 days they own their car. Kia reported 86 problems per 100 vehicles, or fewer than one problem per car sold, to take second in the rankings behind luxury sportscar-maker Porsche (80). Kia's score improved by nearly 20 percent compared with the 2014 study. "The big industry story is Kia," Renee Stephens, vice president of U.S. automotive quality at J.D. Power, said in a video statement, noting Kia's infotainment systems were the key reason for its improved performance. Hyundai was fourth for the second straight year, though its score actually worsened by one, to 95. Even with Hyundai's slight dip, Korean quality increased 11 percent, according to the study, which far outpaced American and European companies' three-percent increases. Japanese brands improved one percent. Hyundai Motor Co. (parent company of the Hyundai and Kia brands) captured four individual vehicle awards, which tied for the most with General Motors, Nissan, and Volkswagen. "The Korean brands have really taken off," Stephens said. "There's movement in the industry, and the patterns are shifting." Another luxury brand, Jaguar (93 problems), slotted in between Hyundai and Kia in third place. Infiniti was fifth, followed by BMW. Chevrolet was the highest domestic brand, taking seventh place, followed by Lincoln, Lexus, and Toyota, which were all well above the industry average of 112 problems per 100 vehicles. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Kirk Kerkorian dead at 98 Kirk Kerkorian, a billionaire activist investor who wielded enormous influence on the Detroit Three car companies in the 1990s and 2000s, died Monday. He was 98 years old. Kerkorian made headlines in 1995 for trying to take over Chrysler – with the help of former chairman Lee Iacocca – before being fended off by Chrysler management. His takeover attempt ultimately pushed Chrysler to be sold to German giant Daimler. He tried to buy Chrysler again in 2007 when Daimler put Chrysler on the market, but Kerkorian fell short and the automaker was sold to private equity firm Cerberus.
