1995 Honda Civic Ex Sedan 4-door 1.6l on 2040-cars

Year:1995 Mileage:177801 Color: is black and the interior is gray
Location:

United States

Please note, this vehicle is being sold AS-IS. The mileage in the photo (177,801) is the actual mileage as of today (4/20/2014), but I will be driving this car in-town until it is sold.

I am selling my 1995 Honda Civic EX which has 177,801 miles on the engine and still runs great. This car has automatic transmission and an automatic sunroof. The exterior is black and the interior is gray. I bought this car in 2008 and it has been my daily driver ever since. It has been a very sturdy vehicle and I have never had to do any serious repairs on it.

The car starts without problem. I did not have any issues starting it through the cold winter. This would be the perfect car for somebody who is looking for something cheap and reliable, but it does have some minor issues. Please see below for details.

Issues:

  • Engine has leaked oil for several years. I check the levels frequently and refill every month or so. The issue has been consistent and has not increased. I do not know what the cause is, and I have had no other issues with the engine.
  • A hole has started to rot through under the carpet on the driver's side. See picture to get an idea of how big it is. It would be a good idea to replace the floorboard.
  • There is a slight alignment issue; if you hold the steering wheel completely straight the car veers slightly to the right.
  • The ABS light comes on, though I have not had any issues with the brakes.
  • The air conditioning blows warm.
  • The driver's side window does not roll down. It occasionally shifts down by itself so the window is open about an inch. I always push it back up with my hands.
  • The rear door on the passenger's side does not open from the outside.
  • There are a few small cigarette burns on the backseat and a few under the floormat on the driver's side. This car has not been smoked in for over two years, so I do not believe there to be any smoke smell.
  • The carpet has some burns and stains. There are spots where the carpet is worn and discolored.
  • There are no rear speakers.
  • There is some rust on the outside, and the paint is in poor condition. See pictures for details.

Repairs:

  • Muffler replaced last year
  • Brake Master Cylinder replaced about 3 years ago

  • The hood latch is broken. My mechanic rigged it to open from the outside - there is a small latch near the hood that opens it.

Honda fined $70 million for failing to report deaths, injuries

Thu, Jan 8 2015

The federal agency charged with keeping US motorists safe announced Thursday it has fined Honda $70 million for failing to report death and injury data in a timely manner. Honda failed to report 1,729 incidents involving death or injury over an 11-year period, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials. Federal law requires automakers to report deaths, injuries and certain warranty claims. Officials said Thursday that information could have been used to spot trends in automotive defects and potentially save lives. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said it is possible the Department of Justice could conduct a criminal investigation into the failures, but it was not immediately known whether the Justice Department would pursue such charges. NHTSA officials still don't know much about the 1,729 incidents of death or injury that were missing from the Early Warning Reporting records, because in some cases, they still haven't been reported. Mark Rosekind, the agency's new administrator, said Honda is still in the process of sending investigators the missing information. "Our first task will be to review that, and determine actual deaths and injuries," he said. "That data is in the process of coming to us and being processed right now." The $70 million is the largest civil penalty levied against an automaker in history, officials said. It actually consists of two $35 million penalties, the maximum allowed by statute for a single TREAD Act violation. In this case, NHTSA broke the fine into separate violations, one for the missing deaths and injury information and one for the company's failure to report certain warranty-claim information. Honda reached an agreement with the federal government in late December, in which it accepted additional regulatory oversight and third-party audits that will ensure reporting is properly completed in the future. One man's love of vintage Honda motorcycles spawns new museum

Mon, Jan 19 2015

In 1977, David Silver got a Honda SS50 moped - it was the last year of unrestricted mopeds for riders just 16 years of age in the UK. That two-wheeler made him a fan, and starting his Honda parts business in 1986 made him a part of the Honda family. He started collecting, with the idea that he'd eventually open a museum. During a visit to another amateur collector's trove in Pennsylvania, the Brit got the chance to purchase the 125 bikes the American had gathered, and his museum aspirations hit the fast-forward button. He's in the process of building a proper home for the bikes in Suffolk, it should open later this year. There will be everything from the first Cub F engine that people could attach to bicycles in 1952, to two examples of the CB92 Benly Super Sport that showed how fast and how good a 125cc bike could be, to the first Fireblade that dropped in 1992 - our CBR 900RR, to the original Honda Dream. Honda says it could be one of the finest collections outside the company's museum in Japan. You can watch Silver tell his story in the video above, and there's more on what's he'll have in an article in Honda's Dream magazine. GoPro learned to hoop from Meadowlark Lemon

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Wait, wait, wait. We promise that there's something to do with cars in this story. Really, there is. It also, though, features some basketball antics. And the entire thing is possible thanks to the magic that is the GoPro.
Strategically situated, the little cameras capture David Kalb, a master when it comes to making trick basketball shots. This time, he's showing just what he can do when launching balls through the sunroof of a Honda Civic. That includes dribbling and sinking a layup (although we think he may have traveled when driving to the net).
Take a look below for the video, and let us know what you think of Kalb's tricks down in Comments.
