1995 Honda Civic Dx With H23a Dohc Vtec Swap on 2040-cars
Cleburne, Texas, United States
I am selling my 1995 Honda Civic DX coupe
The chassis has around 176000 miles on it. I have several extra parts for the car. Fans, door panels from an EX, bolts, wiring, etc. which you are welcome to if you want them. This car does have a rebuilt salvage title. I purchased it from a junkyard 10 years ago. It was Totaled by the insurance company because of theft. The front fenders, front bumper, hood, and seats and trim were stolen out of it. There was no collision. When I bought the car the odometer said 145514. There is a mistake on the Title where a previous inspection station switched the odo numbers before I bought it. So the title flags a possible roll back. It didn't have a roll back. the guy just wasn't very good at his job. Now the odo says 28k(and counting), but it is exempt now, so... Tons of mods: *JDM H23a Blue Top DOHC VTEC Swap *Prelude 5Spd Tranny *ACT Stage 3 Clutch and HDx Pressure Plate capable of holding 500 Lbs/Ft Torque *P28 with Hondata S300 V2 and Boost By gear addition for anything you could ever want to do to the motor (Turbo? Bolt ons? Aggressive Tune? - Up to you) *HCP Motor Mounts *Innovative A/C brakcet *Ice Cold A/C - System has Custom fabricated lines with an AC condenser tuck with pusher fan (Plenty of room for a Turbo, if you decide 200HP is not enough) *Custom machined Civic A/C Compressor to accept the H23 A/C pulley so you have a 5 groove belt running the A/C and Alternator instead of the typical 3 groove which is prone to wear out way too quickly and notorious for slipping. *eBay Aluminum Dual Core Radiator with OE Fan *eBay Polished Stainless 4/2/1 Header *Full 2.5" 304SS Mandrel bent exhaust including 14" resonator, HushPower High Flow Cat, and OBX DUNK Muffler with 4.5" angled tip *Mugen Style Front Strut tower brace *TypeR Style Rear Strut tower brace *Skunk2 Pro Series rear Lower and Adjustable Upper Control Arms with COA - Both sets are Hard Anodized color (basically gun metal Grey) *Rear Disc Brake conversion with e-Brake *Energy Suspension rear arm bushings *Front Spindle and Disc brake upgrade from a 4 door (largest available OE diameter) *PowerStop Slotted/Cross Drilled Rotors and Brake Pads all four wheels(4000 miles) *Stainless steel braided brake lines front and back ($65.00) *OEM Integra Shocks and Springs *5000K DDM Tuning HID kit on D-Spec Crystal Clear Glass headlights - JDM Amber Corners *50/50 split White/Red Tail lights with DDM LED 320 Lumen RED Blinkers *Alpine CDA-9886 CD/USB/iPhone/iPod (MP3/WMA) head unit *MTX Competition 10" Woofer in a ProBox and Kenwood 700 Watt amp to power it. *Full custom 2-tone Black Oxen "Leather" (Vinyl) and Grey "Suede" (Microfiber) seats with Silver braid piping Front and back (Brand New - only about 3000 miles since I installed them last year.) *Heated front seats (Driver and Passenger) Brand New eBay kit. *JDM OE Center arm rest ($90.00) *Modified Front shifter console to accept the Accord shifter assembly and still keeps the cup holders --Note the cup holder door will not latch closed because of the necessary modification for it to fit. So the cup holder is always in the open position. *Black Carpet (8/10) There is some wear on the driver side where your heals rest while driving. But it is under the floor mat, so.... *Black and Grey interior in extremely good condition (The A-Pillar on the driver side has holes drilled in it for an autometer 3-pod pillar overlay with. (I will be including the gauges as well. The tachometer is broken. But the car has stock tach. *AC EL Dash Gauges *RCA cords are already run under the carpet for a 2nd amp if you decide to amplify door speakers/add rear speakers etc. *Rota Circuit8 Bronze Gunmetal Wheels with Hancook Ventus 205/50 R15 on the front and Kumho Ecsta 195/55 R15 on the Back *Interior sound deadening including HushMat in the cabin floor pan, and Tar/Foil in the trunk. *Custom trunk floor was made of Rigid StyroFoam insulation and peg board which was sprayed with Black BOOM noise reducer, then a universal All Weather mat was cut to fit and placed over the top. *Custom body work, side rub strip molding removal, with welded and smoothed clip holes, Tungsten Grey Metallic Paint job including engine bay, trunk lid, and door jams. The paint was done professionally by Zorn Rods and Cycles. (Paint and Body work was $2800.00) *Brand new windshield and Honda Molding surrounds *Brand new WINKOS window tint (Lifetime warranty with warranty card and Certificate of Authenticity) Including the windshield sun visor tint. The not so good: No power steering. No windshield washer system. Right front CV axle is popping when you turn. Front end paint repair was done by me. So there are some spots that could use professional attention. Front bumper is OE flat black primed. Overall: This is a really nice car. For a 20 year old Honda Civic DX, I doubt you will find a cleaner, nicer ride. A complete, ready to enjoy vehicle that has both performance and luxuries like A/C and a Clean body with new Paint is rare in this scene. This is not a riced out, hellaflush, slammed vehicle. It is drivable daily on all roads, has a lot of on hand power, but does not sacrifice comfort while it does it. I've done everything to make this civic, the car that I dreamed of 11 years ago, and I wasn't going to stop till I saw it through. I have 5 cars, and I am working on a rear wheel drive project now, this car was my dream car a long time ago, I really just want someone to enjoy it. I have moved on and developed different tastes in cars, So now it is ready for YOU! As with any used car sale you understand that this is a used car and I offer no warranty. As far as I know this is a really nice Civic right now, ready for someone to love. Over $14K invested... Honda Accord Hybrid falls well short of 47 mpg, says Consumer Reports [w/video]
Thu, 29 May 2014Do not poke Consumer Reports with the hybrid fuel economy stick. That seems to be the lesson illustrated here yet again. The Honda Accord Hybrid is the latest to arouse the ratings bear, returning "just" 40 combined mpg in CR testing. Even so, that makes it "a class leader for fuel economy among midsized sedans," besting even the Civic Hybrid in CR testing, but that's still a lucky roll of the dice short of its EPA rating of 47 mpg. Remember, it was back in December 2012 that CR knocked the Ford Fusion and C-Max hybrid models for the exact same failing: certified with an EPA-rated 47 mpg but delivering "just" 40 mpg.
Beyond that, while the Accord Hybrid earned a lower overall score than the traditional gasoline Accord because of its ride, handling and refinement issues, it gets unqualified applause from the institute for its "very impressive hybrid system."
It will be interesting to see if CR's findings will negatively impact the model's sales, which to this point have been impressive enough that demand is outstripping supply. In the meantime, you can check out CR's brief video review of the Accord Hybrid below, and check out the magazine's press release chiding its mpg rating.
2015 Honda Civic Type-R benchmarks the cream of the hot hatch crop
Tue, 13 Aug 2013Honda has something wicked up its sleeve, based on the latest batch of spy photos we've received. This is purportedly the next Honda Civic Type-R, out testing in Germany and on the Nürburgring. The last generation of the Type-R went out of production in Europe in 2010, and while we admired it from afar, it's 2.0-liter, four-cylinder produced similar figures to the American-market Honda Civic Si.
From the looks of both it and the cars Honda engineers are benchmarking, the next Type-R will be much more powerful. In the spy photos, we can see four meaty exhaust pipes along with what is quite clearly an intercooler hiding behind the rear bumper. That's right, the next Type-R will be turbocharged. It'll need to be, though, if it's meant to tackle cars like the Opel Astra OPC, Ford Focus RS500 and Renault Megane RS Trophy (not pictured, but there according to our spies).
300 horsepower from a 2.0-liter engine should be on offer, and would match the competition quite well. Other obvious tweaks from the ho-hum five-door Civic are mainly aerodynamic. It sports an aggressive body kit with a meaty chin spoiler, rocker panels and a big rear wing. Red Brembo brake calipers can also be seen behind the sporty wheels and low-profile tires.
Honda reveals updated rest-of-world Civic hatchback
Thu, 14 Nov 2013The rest of the world's most recent Honda Civic was introduced for 2012, and it looks much the same as the 2014 model Honda will release in January to European and Asian markets. In fact, not much has changed, but a retuned power steering system, revised front and rear damping rates and rear wheel toe and camber adjustments are touted to make the hatchback drive better, World Car Fans reports.
There are some small visual changes, such as privacy glass for the lower rear window, a piano-black front bumper that previously was dark gray and piano-black trim replacing body-color pieces around the license plate area, tailgate and lower bumper. Inside, white stitching adorns the seats, steering wheel and knee pad along with aluminum and gloss-black accents placed around the center console area.
Of course, Honda won't be exporting this particular Civic to the US (or the recently unveiled Civic Tourer), so check out the photo gallery to see it in all its not-for-you glory.
