1990 Honda Civic Dx Sedan 4-door 1.5l on 2040-cars
Lakewood, New Jersey, United States
This is 1990 Honda Civic DX 4 door sedan with 4 cylinders automatic and 180K highway miles. She had only one-owner. The car belonged to my mother in law who past away last August. She was a nurse who drove the parkway 70 miles round trip 5 days a week.
The car received scheduled maintenance from day one. With in the past year the following mechanical work has been done. New tires, front brakes, front struts/shocks, alternator, water pump, timing belt, radiator, radiator hoses, valve cover gasket, plugs, wires, distributor, cap, exhaust (catalytic converter back), 4 wheel alignment. I was advised it will need a steering "rack" at some point, there is a small drip every once in a while however it does not hinder the steering performance at all. Runs extremely well! Strong engine, strong transmission that is a 4-speed auto with over drive, which helps in it getting 29.4 almost 30 miles to the gallon. I still run the parkway once twice a week.
The car still wears the original blue paint, which is a little faded but still shines. There is some rust at the edge of the rear fenders and many years ago it was struck by a car that backed into it denting the passengers rear door. One of her neighbors in the senior development she lived tried to repair it for her and did a poor job as pictures show.
The interior is very clean but again faded from being outside but no rips/tears or broken plastic pieces. All glass is clean. Electric rear defrosted works, A/C works, excellent heat. There is an aftermarket Sony stereo she had professionally installed when new with cassette player. Everything works on the car and has been my daily driver since last year. It performed well through this past fridged winter without any issues and would be a great first car, commuter or daily driver. The only reason for selling is I need something bigger. The car is a driver! Feel free to ask questions and good luck bidding.

This is the ad that never ends
Wed, Apr 8 2015Hondas pretty much last forever, and that's exactly the message the Japanese automaker wants to convey in this latest ad for the 2015 CR-V. It's called Endless Road, created by McGarryBowen in London, and it shows the new midsize crossover driving in a hypnotic, infinite loop. According to AdWeek, this endless road is supposed to convey Honda's never-ending quest to create the best, most advanced CR-V possible. You can see a shortened, embeddable version of the ad above, but what's really cool is the interactive portion that's only available on Honda's YouTube channel. It uses real-time weather data to show the CR-V infinitely driving through day or night, depending on what's happening in your specific part of the world. AdWeek has an interview with McGarryBowen's executive creative director, Angus Macadam, about the new spot, as well as a behind-the-scenes, making-of video, which we've embedded below. Recharge Wrap-up: Charging in Iceland, Smart "For" campaign, Honda open sources Smart Home
Fri, Jul 11 2014Iceland's EV charging network is expanding by 200 units. A subsidiary of Northern Lights Energy called EVEN is providing and installing the rapid chargers, which it hopes to have installed by the end of the year. EVEN's Gisli Gislasson says, "We couldn't wait for the government and decided to do our part in this." Iceland's government hopes to have 10 percent of the cars on its road powered by sustainable fuels by 2020. Read more at Iceland Review. Argonne National Laboratory is working to create universal charging for electric vehicles. Through its new Electric Vehicle Interoperability Center, the group is studying ways to standardize charging so any type of electric vehicle in any country can charge at any charging station. Additionally, the research is working on ways to better integrate electric cars to a smart grid, to the point where EVs could even act as part of the grid, charging when they need it and providing electricity during peak hours. Go to Phys.org for more details. Smart has launched its "For" campaign in Europe. The maker of the tiny city cars is reaching out to the public through updated branding, ads through various channels and social media engagement to get people thinking about Smart in fresh ways. The campaign emphasizes the "For" idea, as in "For challenging the status quo," "For loving the city," etc. Also as part of the campaign, Smart will be embarking on a Europe-wide roadshow to 15 different cities, where the public can learn more about the cars – particularly the Fortwo and Forfour models – and even arrange a test drive. Read more in the press release below. Honda is publicly sharing plans associated with its Smart Home project. The project, which goes beyond cars and into the home to look for ways to live efficiently and reduce CO2 emissions, involves sustainable energy and heating and cooling methods, smart lighting, sustainable building materials and waste management, passive design and, of course, vehicle charging. Now, technical details such as architectural plans, mechanical drawings, furniture specs and CAD data will be open-source and publicly available for any interested parties. Check out the Honda Smart Home website to learn more, or to start downloading the plans yourself. "FOR" brand campaign: smart: More than just a car Functionality, innovation and joie de vivre – these are the brand values that make smart so unique. smart sees itself as a future-oriented, visionary brand that stands for a great idea.
180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains
Wed, 21 May 2014If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.
