Up for bid is my 1989 Honda Civic Si. I have a daughter on the way, and I need money for my new house. We have 3 cars and its time to get rid of one to help with our finances. When I bought this car it was completely bone stock 100% all original, never ever been touched. Of course, the 13" factory hub caps I just couldn't deal with, so I purchased BRAND NEW 15" polished Rota Slipstreams. They are aluminum, and quite light. For tires I chose Yokohama S-drive 195/50/R15. The tires have less than 3k miles on them. The factory springs were very soft, and the car sat really high, so I installed Eibach Pro Kit springs. The car now sits a little lower, and has a more secure feel to it while driving. Not a rough ride at all and it's not too low! The wheels have Gorilla Neo-Chrome lug nuts. I also installed an Alpine radio with CD player, Bluetooth, pandora, iPhone and smartphone hookup, and a headphone jack for music input. The exhaust system has been replaced with a factory fit and sound level stainless steel exhaust that WILL NEVER RUST or need to be replaced EVER! It's super quiet too!
Other than those 6 things, the car is absolutely completey stock and un-touched. Just as Honda intended.
15" Rota Slipstream Polished Wheels - $468.00
195/50/15 Yokohama S-Drive Tires - $355.82
Gorilla Neo-Chrome Lug Nuts - $61.99
Tire mounting and balancing - $45.00
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs - $205.00
Alpine Headunit CDE-HD137BT - $178.99
Yonaka Stainless Steel Cat-Back exhaust - $264.00
Grand Total $1,578.80in new aftermarket parts.

I also replaced many parts with OEM Honda factory parts right from the dealership. They include:
Hood release and hood release cable - $51.12
Clutch and brake pedal rubbers - $13.12
Shift knob - $22.88
Shift boot - $28.83
cap and rotor - $24.00
lower control arms - $167.26
NGK iridium plugs - (lost receipt)
rear wiper blade - $16.26
air filter - $21.79
2 keys - $14.42
Total $359.68

Non OEM parts:
Fuel filter $15.99
alternator belt - $21.31
Grand Total For All Parts - $1,975.78

The timing belt was replaced approximately 2000 miles ago with an OEM Honda timing belt, and the clutch was also replaced. I had the timing belt new in a bag in my garage and I bought it a year or two ago, so I don't have the receipt.

I know I'm missing some things that I'm sure ill find later, but oh well you get the idea lol.

The car runs great, me and my fianc'e just took it to Ocean City Maryland for vacation and back, 700ish miles round trip. We averaged 41.7mpg and that was with some traffic and stop and go driving. The engine runs very strong, doesn't leak or burn a single drop of oil, you can compression test it if you would like to verify that the motor is very healthy. The transmission shifts amazingly smooth, literally like a hot knife through butter, all the gears shift perfect up or downshift at any desired RPM. I have fresh OEM Honda gearlube in the tranny, and it's crystal clear. I change the oil evey 3500-4000 miles with Mobil-1 Full Synthetic 10w-30.

There are no water leaks, the power moonroof works perfect, as do all the other windows in the car.

Everything on the car WORKS PERFECT!
(minus the air conditioning which needs a belt and hooked back up and recharged, all of the ac components are on the car however)

The interior is in very good condition. Nothing has been cut or hacked at or modified or been tampered with in any way. The door panels are perfect the dash is perfect the back seats are perfect the cargo cover in the rear is perfect. The only notable things in the interior that aren't perfect is:
A- The carpet is faded a bit and has a few spots that would probably clean up
B- There is a 6 inch long scratch in the headliner, very light.
C- The top half of the driver seat is a different fabric from the bottom.

The seats are not ripped and the bolsters are very firm. There are no cigarette burns or anything in the car.
I'm telling you this interior is very very nice.

Exterior of the car has 1 crappy dent in the lower rocker panel on the driver side from where my jack stand got it, trust me I was mad. There are two small spots of surface rust on the passenger door the size of the tip of a pencil eraser head. A few small scratches here and there. Some minor surface rust starting on the inner lip of the rear wheel wells. There's dings on the roof and some real minor dings on the body but its very minor. Overall though its pretty good. It's 24 years old!! The rubber trim by the top of the windshield is pulling up a bit. Needs glued down.

Car is located in Clearfield PA 16830
I don't know what else to put on here. Axles are perfect brakes are perfect.
You get the idea.

Honda HR-V could spawn Acura variant

Thu, Feb 5 2015

We've been saying it for months now, but the compact CUV is the next big thing. Everyone, and we mean everyone, is at least considering getting in on the action, if they aren't already actively designing or selling, and that's true whether they're a premium or mainstream automaker. That, of course, includes Acura, whose parent company, Honda, has a compact CUV of its own coming to market very, very soon. With the arrival of the Fit-based HR-V, that begs the question of whether the near-premium marque will join this burgeoning segment. The idea of building a car below the company's entry level CUV, the RDX, is an appealing one to Honda Executive Vice President John Mendel, who called it "potentially the only place you could go," and would occupy the "white space" the company is looking to fill. While we might chuckle about the idea of a luxurious, Fit-based CUV, it's fair to say it could do well for Acura. It could certainly provide a foil to the very hot selling Buick Encore, and may even capture some sales from the luxuriously outfitted Jeep Renegade Limited/Fiat 500X Lounge. It remains to be seen, though, if Acura could build an HR-V capable of tangling with the new entries from Lexus, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Honda fined $70 million for failing to report deaths, injuries

Thu, Jan 8 2015

The federal agency charged with keeping US motorists safe announced Thursday it has fined Honda $70 million for failing to report death and injury data in a timely manner. Honda failed to report 1,729 incidents involving death or injury over an 11-year period, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials. Federal law requires automakers to report deaths, injuries and certain warranty claims. Officials said Thursday that information could have been used to spot trends in automotive defects and potentially save lives. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said it is possible the Department of Justice could conduct a criminal investigation into the failures, but it was not immediately known whether the Justice Department would pursue such charges. NHTSA officials still don't know much about the 1,729 incidents of death or injury that were missing from the Early Warning Reporting records, because in some cases, they still haven't been reported. Mark Rosekind, the agency's new administrator, said Honda is still in the process of sending investigators the missing information. "Our first task will be to review that, and determine actual deaths and injuries," he said. "That data is in the process of coming to us and being processed right now." The $70 million is the largest civil penalty levied against an automaker in history, officials said. It actually consists of two $35 million penalties, the maximum allowed by statute for a single TREAD Act violation. In this case, NHTSA broke the fine into separate violations, one for the missing deaths and injury information and one for the company's failure to report certain warranty-claim information. Honda reached an agreement with the federal government in late December, in which it accepted additional regulatory oversight and third-party audits that will ensure reporting is properly completed in the future.
