1978 Honda Civic Cvcc- Rust-free, Super Clean, 72,000 Miles, No Reserve on 2040-cars
Willoughby, Ohio, United States
This is a NO RESERVE listing. I brought this car to Ohio from Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest where it had been since new. Consequently, it has never seen road salt (illegal in WA and OR) and has never been subjected to corrosive salt of any kind. This car is rust-free and completely solid and clean in every way, including underneath. You will probably not find another 1st Generation Civic with NO RUST like this one. This is probably one of the nicest, cleanest and best-preserved examples of this car in the country. I do not exaggerate when I say this is a superb example. This car is very original and has not been grotesquely modified or hacked up into someone's idea of a "race hatch". This is probably as close to an original condition 1978 Civic as you'll find. It has been repainted, and a quality job was done. This paint is very good, glossy and in very good condition. A nice popup sunroof was added long ago. The engine is an updated EM1 1500 with an electric choke. The original engine was an ED3 CVCC 1500. The car has a factory 5-speed transmission, plus it has the wooden steering wheel, shift knob and dash plus the deluxe gauge package. The wheels are steel 13" with chrome beauty rings and the Honda center caps. The tires are nearly new. I cannot overemphasize the significance of the fact that this car has never seen road salt since it was new. This is a RUST FREE car- even the underside, the floorboards and the pinch welds are clean and look nearly new. The interior of the car is original. The seats are in very good condition; the fabric isn't ripped up and the cushioning material is still firm. The carpet is original, and it does show some wear including a few minor wear holes. The gauges including tachometer, engine temperature and fuel gauge are working accurately. The engine is smooth, powerful and runs well. The transmission shifts perfectly and the clutch is strong. This little car drives beautifully for a 36-year old car. The exterior looks very, very good. The repaint was a quality job, and the body is straight, clean and rust-free. The body and paint are really good-looking. This car would present itself respectably at any car show or event, particularly at a gathering of vintage Hondas. I have personally never encountered another 1st Generation Civic in this sort of condition. I think this might be the finest example of this car currently offered for sale in the country, and probably one of the nicest, period. This car turns heads every place you drive it- nobody has seen one of these cars in a decade or two, and you get thumbs-ups and questions everywhere you drive. The title is a clean and clear OH title in hand and ready to transfer and the mileage is indicated on the title as ACTUAL. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home if you wanted. However, I'd recommend with a car of this age and rarity that you have it shipped if you're going a long way- in that case please call Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for a shipping quote. Honda recalling 748k Odyssey and Pilot models over airbag concern
Fri, 18 Jan 2013American Honda today announced a recall of approximately 748,000 Odyssey and Pilot models due to faulty airbag concerns. The vehicles in question are Odyssey minivans from the 2011 to 2013 model years and Pilot crossovers from the 2009 to 2013 model years.
According to a statement from Honda, driver's side airbags in the affected vehicles were potentially assembled without some of the rivets that secure the bag's plastic cover. Because of this, the airbag may not deploy properly in the event of a crash, leading to further occupant injury. As of this writing, no injuries have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
Honda will begin officially notifying owners via mail in mid-February. The automaker urges customers to take their vehicles to an authorized dealership, where vehicles will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired. In lieu of waiting for the snail mail approach, owners may also visit www.recalls.honda.com or can contact the automaker directly at 1.800.999.1009 and select option four.
Experience the New York Auto Show by drone
Fri, Apr 10 2015The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. Honda HR-V Prototype looks awfully familiar
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Is there anything quite so exciting as seeing a brand-new vehicle for the very first time? Part of the allure of auto shows is the chance to see new ideas, just before they're fully baked and ready for public consumption. "Prototypes" you might say, of production models that are just around the corner. Or, in the case of the Honda HR-V, already down the block a ways.
Here in Paris, Honda has unveiled its HR-V Prototype, a nearly production-ready version of a "new SUV for Europe." Before we take umbrage with that SUV designation - as far as we can tell the Fit-based crossover isn't much of a mudder - we should address the fact that at this year's New York Auto Show in April, Honda handed over just a few images and specs of the actually production-read HR-V for the US. Presumably this is a "prototype" for Europe, where the NYC car is US-specific, but we're still scratching our heads a bit.
No matter! Here in France, Honda tells us that the utile little hatch will be available powered by both a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (the one American customers will see), and a 1.6-liter diesel unit, both wearing the company's Earth Dreams Technology label and presumably running cleaner and more frugally than ever. In Europe, a standard six-speed manual will come with both mills, while the 1.5-liter will offer the option of a continuously variable transmission.
