Hello, and thank you for looking at my item on Ebay. This item is for a 1996 Honda Accord EX, automatic, cloth interior, 4-cylinder 2.2 VTEC, front-wheel drive 4-door sedan. I have had this car for almost 5 years now and it never broke down on me even after 35,000+ miles. This Honda drives straight and quiet, shifts smoothly, and is fuel efficient, about 26 MPG average. When I bought the car almost 5 years ago at 175,000 miles, I had the timing belt, water pump, alternator belt, power steering belt, A/C belt, platinum spark plugs, distributor cap and wires, coolant flush, thermostat, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, brake pads all around, new tires, new exhaust, transmission fluid changed, front two side marker lights, headlights, A/C compressor, CV axles, and battery all replaced new. I recently installed a new battery just about a year ago. The first battery failed prematurely. Basically all major tune-up parts were changed. During that time, I kept the throttle body clean, cleaned once a year. Some poor-performance issues can be resolved by keeping the throttle body clean as far as I know and have experienced. Earlier this year, I had the front right wheel bearing explode on me while I was driving to New York City. I had the car towed back to New Jersey, and then had both front wheel bearing replaced with new ones. I also installed new upper control arms and new outer tie rod ends too during this time as they were showing signs of age. THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THIS HONDA LET ME DOWN and it was my fault. I heard the wheel bearing noise for a few thousand miles and I just ignored it. Never again will I ignore a wheel bearing going bad. I drove from Philadelphia to Niagara Falls New York and back during a hot summer weekend for 4 hours straight and it did not break down on me or complain or showed any signs it was stop working. I went and came back in total peace knowing this Honda would not fail me. I drove it back and forth to Philadelphia and New York City for work, never a problem and getting stuck on the road. This car looks terrible because of the front hood. The hood got damaged while I was driving at 50 MPH one day. The hood latch released the hood due to lock failure and it popped open while I was driving and hit the top of the windows just one inch above the front windshield. Talk about getting the hell scared out of you. The hood did not rip off, just slammed onto the front roof of the car. The windshield and sunroof glass were not damaged. This happened 4 years ago, just a few months after I bought this car. I noticed a chip on the windshield that happened just about a month ago. This might be able to be repaired or may need to replace the windshield. Most of the body is in good shape, an easy paint job for sure. The A/C is not working, fans and heater work. I tried to get the A/C to work, but failed. This may be a simple fix by someone that knows how to fix automobile A/C systems. It does leak a little motor oil, only about 1 quart every two months or so. I think it is on the valve cover bolt gasket, not the valve cover gasket. All windows, cruise control, radio, sunroof, power mirrors, interior lights, dash lights, brake lights, headlights, speedometer, heater, and brakes all work. Front and rear brake pads changed in February, along with one new front caliper. The other calipers were cleaned and serviced. New rear rotors too. Parking brake works. Power steering works. Everything works except for the A/C, thermostat, muffler, and driver side window (sticks a little). Charging system charges at 14.5V+. Rear main seal is tight and not leaking at all. CV axles are in good shape. For more pics and to see a couple videos, please visit http://www.tnemicro.com/accord96. Please allow a few minutes for the videos to download. It is not a new car, but it sure runs like one. I have another car that I want to fix up and use from now on. I had this Honda for almost 5 years and I was very happy with it, but it is time for her to have a new owner. There is a very low reserve. Happy bidding!

Sunday Drive: And now for something completely different

Sun, Dec 17 2017

This past week played host to a wide assortment of automotive news, highlighted by our first drive of the 2018 Volvo XC40. The Swedish crossover is targeted at young, successful Millennials, but it offers cool styling, fun dynamics, and all of today's must-have technology, so we think it ought to appeal to a much wider swath of the automotive marketplace. From there we answer the question, "What are hard on the outside and soft on the inside?" as we take a look at the next Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV. We expect the German automaker's flagship luxury SUV to remain boxy on the outside, but the interior is going to be soft, supple, and luxurious. And then there's the Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, which starts at starts at $34,290 and boasts 212 total system horsepower, 232 pound-feet of torque, 47 miles of electric driving range, and a total range of 340 miles. EPA rates it at 110 MPGe in EV mode, and 44 city/40 highway/42 combined overall. We compare it to other plug-ins like the Chevy Volt and Toyota Prius Prime. And finally we have some more spy photos of the 2019 Ram 1500. It doesn't have a traditional crosshair grille, but it's got plenty of chrome and an attractive upright stance that's sure to tempt future truck buyers looking for some sophistication to go with their work gloves. As always, stay tuned to Autoblog this week to see all the automotive news that's fit to print. 2018 Volvo XC40 First Drive Review | The Masspirational crossover Mercedes-Benz G-Class gets the luxe, high-tech treatment 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid Review | It's what's on the inside that counts 2019 Ram 1500 shows chrome grille and more production parts Green Honda Mercedes-Benz RAM Volvo Technology Truck Crossover SUV Luxury Performance Sedan volvo xc40 sunday drive

Question of the Day: Ever consider driving a minivan?

Thu, May 12 2016

Since I'm supposed to know something about cars, it happens all the time: friends and relatives ask me advice about what kind of vehicle they should get. Very often, the only type of vehicle that can check every item on their wish list (e.g., hauls lots of people and stuff, gets good fuel economy, has great crash-test ratings, can take four Great Danes camping, and so on) is a modern minivan... and, of course, nobody wants to hear this. I'm not a minivan person, they will wail, and so they end up with a cramped, fuel-swilling SUV or a not-so-space-efficient minivan-in-disguise CUV. So, is it worth becoming one of those minivan people in order to get the incredible usefulness of these masterpieces of vehicle engineering, or do you hold your head high and drive something that doesn't quite meet your needs? NHTSA Probes Nearly 400,000 Infiniti, Honda Vehicles Over Steering Faults

Tue, Nov 11 2014

As many as 391,000 vehicles from Honda and Infiniti may eventually need to be recalled as a result of two, separately announced Preliminary Evaluations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to ascertain the scope of the potential safety hazards. In one of the queries, NHTSA is looking into 24 reports from drivers of the 2013 Honda Accord who say they had total loss of their power steering or experienced a sudden increase in the necessary effort to turn the wheel. In four cases, the problem may be linked to crashes. According to the claims, 13 people reported seeing a warning message during the failure. Turning off the car and restarting it would fix the issue in some cases. If a recall is necessary, it could affect an estimated 374,000 Accords. The second investigation is much smaller in scope. The safety agency is investigating the 2008 Infiniti EX35 after two complaints of the steering wheel shaft separating and the vehicle losing the ability to steer. Both reports say the steering became loose when driving and then completely failed once the vehicle was stopped. A recall for the problem would affect an estimated 17,000 vehicles.
