2001 Honda Prelude Low Mileage Silver Stock Original Clean One Owner on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
You are looking at a used 2001 Honda Prelude Base with 5 speed manual transmission and 62,583 original miles. This one-owner vehicle has been garage kept in Dallas, TX its entire life. This vehicle has never been in a collision, nor has it ever experienced a fender bender. The body has no dents, rust, deep scratches, etc. The engine, suspension, body, paint and interior have never been modified from the original stock configuration. The vehicle have never been raced, ragged out, off-roaded or otherwise abused. It was driven its entire life by an adult, married male who was 31 years old when the vehicle was new, and had driven manual transmission vehicles since age 16. White appearance on door trims is from suntan lotion rubbing on the trim from bare arms and legs.
Maintenance status: All four tires were replaced in July 2013, and have less than 500 miles on them. New battery in late 2013. The owner changed the engine oil regularly. In the last 10,000 miles it has needed a half-quart between changes (see Bruises and blemishes, below). It was taken to a professional Asian-vehicle-capable mechanic for all other mechanical work. The clutch slave cylinder failed and was replaced at around 32,000 miles. The AC is cold and has never needed to have been serviced since the vehicle was new. Clutch, timing belt and brakes are all original. Keys: The vehicle has had an two-way aftermarket Astra alarm/remote keyless entry system installed in it, but the two original remote keyless entry key fobs are included. A single one-way alarm key fob (missing the keyring but functional) and a single two-way alarm key fob are included. Both original main keys, the original valet key and the original reprogramming key are included. Documentation: The original owners manuals are included. No formal maintenance records are included. Bruises and blemishes: The paint has light scratches and dings from bike rack and doors in parking lots, and small dings on nose from highway travel. The stock stereo no longer plays CDs. The oil pan gasket area is damp and results in an average of a single drop of oil per month on the garage floor. Front undercarriage guard has taken some hits from parking lot curbs and bottoming out on steep entry aprons -- this is almost unavoidable on a vehicle with such a low ride height. Additional information regarding odometer history report: No, I did not put 105,000+ miles on this vehicle in the 12 months between my state inspections in 2004 and 2005. The tech must have typed the value wrong when he input it. I never noticed it, as I never pulled a "CarFax" on this vehicle while I owned it. It should have been 29,746 at the 2005 inspection. If you believe me, bid with confidence. If you do not, I'll understand -- please do not bid in that case. Additional Information on Bidding: This vehicle is subject to local sale and may be withdrawn at any time. In any event, it will not be listed on eBay again after this auction. If you are watching it and are interested, please place your bid. If you are planning to wait until auction end to snipe it, it may not be there. I do have a firm local offer in hand right now. |

All of them are discussed, plus a few more from Mike and David, and Mike rants a bit about a new VW Atlas commercial. NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers
Fri, 08 Jun 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.
Honda to dub Fit-based as HR-V for North America
Sun, 06 Apr 2014You may remember it as the Urban SUV (pictured above) from when it debuted in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show last year, or know it as the Vezel as the production version was unveiled for the Japanese Domestic Market at the 2014 Tokyo Motor Show. But when Honda starts exporting its new Fit-based crossover - or better yet, building it in Mexico for North American consumption - it will be called the HR-V.
This news comes courtesy of Honda enthusiast forum Temple of VTEC. When contacted by Autoblog, Honda spokesmen declined to comment on the veracity of the report, saying only that it would "announce the name in the near future," but the handle fits with what we know about Honda's history with compact crossovers. The previous HR-V (which was not available in the States) was a high-riding, squared-off crossover built between 1999 and 2006 and based on the Fit's predecessor, the Honda Logo.
While the HR-V moniker might not have name recognition in North America, it would in Europe where Honda also hopes its new crossover will find eager customers. It will also fit in nicely below the CR-V that will continue on as the HR-V's larger stablemate.
