1981 Honda Prelude, 5 Speed With Working A/c on 2040-cars
Spring, Texas, United States
1981 Honda Prelude 5 speed manual up for grabs. Clean inside and out. CLEAN TITLE. I rescued this car from an impound in late 2012 and turned it to my weekend ride but wife needs a mini van and says this classic has to go. Currently insured and registered til Jan 2015, always garaged. Has minor dings on hood and trunk, one dent on roof aft of sunroof. True mileage unknown, reads 48100 miles. Runs good. Get a lot of compliments when out & about. Everything works even the A/C, but could use a tune up, runs a little rich. Has air cavity in the rear fuel filter causing down line external fuel pump to click at all times when running. Starting to see slight water in oil, runs but need attention soon. Tires have plenty of tread, sunroof works, sony stereo with cd player.
The following hard to find parts are included with the car (all new): Struts, all 4 (all need changed) Timing, alternator, compressor belts (currently all belts appear in good condition with no cracks, precautionary change recommended) Water pump and gasket (normally done same time as timing belt change) Valve cover gasket Rear brake cylinder, LH & RH Rear wheel bearings, LH & RH, inner and outer. Front/rear brake pads/shoes. All 3 engine mounts (all look good now, no need change) plus half a dozen or more items.. don't remember them all right now.
Has new battery and new paint matching original with clear coat. The original seats torn/damaged, currently has '94 integra seats installed. Removed original front and rear seats will go with car, the rear haven't been worked on yet.
Please see the pictures and bid accordingly. Selling as is. Also reserve the right to end bid early, also listing it for sale locally. $500 deposit due within 3 days of winning, Full payment within 7 days. I do not ship, buyer needs to arrange for pick up within 14 days.

Watch this LSR Honda Insight crash at 190 mph in the desert
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Like any form of motorsports, attempts at breaking land speed records are inherently dangerous. To wit: During a recent speed competition at El Mirage dry lake beds in southern California, racer Brian Gillespie and his first-gen Honda Insight crashed at nearly 190 miles per hour, and it was all caught on video.
According to the Southern California Timing Association website, which hosts the event, the weather was good and there was no wind on November 10, so it isn't clear what may have caused the crash. Despite the car being destroyed (including the entire front end being sheared off), Gillespie suffered only "minor injuries" and is recovering. The SCTA site does state that Gillespie managed to crack the 200-mile-per-hour mark in a previous run with a top speed of 200.9 mph, so congratulations to him on that! Scroll down to watch the horrifying crash.
Honda Vezel leaked in Mugen trim
Mon, 16 Dec 2013Just last month at the Tokyo Motor Show, Honda revealed its new Vezel crossover, a production version of the Urban SUV concept that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show. According to new reports, the model already has a three-month waiting list in Japan alone. But that doesn't mean Honda's tuning division, Mugen, is waiting around to spruce it up.
Pictured here is the Mugen-tuned version of the Vezel leaked from a sales brochure in Japan. While there's not much information to go on, Mugen's take on the Vezel appears to be wearing a custom aero kit, with more pronounced lower bumpers and side sills, a more Acura-like grille treatment and different wheels.
Whether we'll ever get a Mugen package like this when the Fit-based CUV arrives in North America remains to be seen, but we've historically gotten very few of these tuned-up Hondas. In fact, we're still not even sure what the tiny crossover will be called when it arrives here, but something tells us it won't arrive carrying the Vezel moniker.
Honda boss says Chinese drivers don't want green cars
Wed, 24 Apr 2013According to The Wall Street Journal, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito believes that China's nascent car-buying demographic isn't all that interested in hybrid cars - at least not yet. The emissions story doesn't resonate with them, and certainly not for the higher purchase premium such models usually carry. What they really want, Ito believes, is reliable, affordable cars that fit their needs. When it comes to Honda sales, the numbers would appear to jibe with his thoughts: Honda sold 598,577 vehicles in China last year through its two joint ventures, yet just 542 of them were hybrids - not even a tenth of a percent. However, Toyota sold 840,500 cars in China last year, and two percent of that total, 17,300 units, were hybrids, which is closer to the still-piddling three-percent ratio of sales that Toyota posted in the US last year.
Honda offers the Insight, Fit Hybrid and CR-Z in China and plans to make components for its Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system there from next year, the hope being it will reduce the cost of hybrid cars for local buyers. That was one part of the plan Honda laid out last year to popularize its IMA system in China. Other initiatives include the introduction of a new hybrid system for mid-sized and large vehicles and a plug-in hybrid. Among the four new vehicles Honda showed during this weekend's press day for the Shanghai Motor Show (including the Concept M minivan pictured above) there was not a single hybrid among them.
