2000 Honda Insight 5-speed / 67k Miles / Garage Kept / Absolutely Beautiful ! on 2040-cars
Gasport, New York, United States
If you want one of the lowest original mile, first gen 5-speed insights in the country, read on! I have owned many First Gen Honda Insights over the last 6 years or so. This is the lowest original mile insight I've been able to find! It is from Ohio it's whole life, and I keep it in my garage. And it shows! The body is very nice, and the paint shines! The usual items that get sun baked are not (rear wing, a-pillar trims, steering wheel, side mirrors, headlights, exterior moldings, door handles, emblems, roof pinch weld moldings, etc, etc.) The usual items that get corroded due to salt exposure are not (brake lines, brackets, nuts, bolts, trim pieces, suspension pieces, underhood items, etc.) Interior-wise, again, the car is very nice. Neither the seats nor the rug are worn through (both normal for these cars,) the steering wheel, dash, headliner, door panels, trunk carpeting, etc have no rips or heavy wear. All the rubber is intact, with no rips (around the doors, rear hatch, hood, etc.) It has the correct Bridgestone RE92 tires with a very good amount of tread remaining (they look newer and ride great!) Mechanically, everything works on the car. It performs flawlessly, gets into and holds lean burn perfectly, does not leak or burn any fluids at all, and is a super smooth rider. IMA-wise, the battery charges and discharges exactly as it should. It assists and regens exactly as it should. I've wired the car for my digital grid charger (again, as I do all my insights,) and cycle the pack regularly (considering the car is stored in my garage and not being driven.) For those not in the know, grid charging the pack peaks and equalizes the cells within the pack. This is extremely good for the battery, and prolongs it's life and health. The car has the owners manual, both keys and a remote, too. Transmission-wise, it shifts perfectly with no synchro grind or issues whatsoever. The clutch and slave cylinder are perfect too. Accessory-wise, again, everything works exactly as it should; heater, ice cold air conditioning, blower fan, power windows and switches, power locks and switches, turn signals, every bulb inside and out, all the dash including the trip meter, horn, turn signals, stock Honda am/fm/cassette stereo, speakers, rear trunk release actuator, rear trunk lock, hatch struts, etc, etc. This car is as nice as they come. All jack equipment and spare tire are in place and in good shape, too. It drives extremely tight with no rattles or squeaks, (as should be expected from such a low mile vehicle.) I have the clean and clear transferable title, with no liens, in my name. So, if you want the best car for your money, look no further. Can you buy an insight cheaper? Yup. But what you save in initial costs, you'll put back into the car fixing the stuff it needs. And you still won't have nearly as nice a car! These first gen 5-speeds are extremely fun to drive, and even more fun when you realise you only go thru about 10 gallons of gas, every 700+ miles or so! This is where the old saying, "You get what you pay for" holds quite true! I encourage you to come look at and drive the car yourslf, or have a 3rd party come check it out on your behalf! Any questions; call me directly at 716-946-6070. Thanks for your time and consideration! Respectfully, Chris in Gasport, N.Y. (14067) PS: I also have an all original Citrus-colored 2000 5-speed from Florida with only 88k miles, that I'll be listing within the next few weeks; feel free to inquire. Also, on any of my insights, I can add any of the desirable modifications (grid charger, clutch interrupt circuit, brake regen circuit, throttle smoothing circuit) all of which I build, sell and regularly install myself on my daily drivers and other's insights, at cost. If you do purchase an insight from me, I always offer the buyer one of my grid chargers at a discounted price. If you want to read up any of these mods, near the top right of your ebay home page, hit the "see other items" button. You can read up on these extremely versatile and widely used mods among the insight owners community. Or copy and paste the ebay numbers below in the search bar.... Thanks again! Chris

Minivan market not what it used to be, but margins make up for it
Thu, 05 Jun 2014
Residual values for last year's minivans are higher than they were in 2000.
Much like the station wagon was the shuttle of Baby Boomer generation, the minivan has been the primary means of transport for Generations X and Y. Just as the boomers abandoned the Country Squire, though, those kids that were toted around in Grand Caravans and Windstars are adults, and they certainly don't want to be seen in the cars their parents drove.
Honda speeds towards its dreams with new Civic Type R Concept [w/videos]
Tue, 04 Mar 2014A war is coming. It's been brewing for some time between the top-performing hot hatches, and will be determined by the ultimate bragging rights: the lap record at the Nürburgring for front-drive cars. Renault claimed it and reclaimed it again with successive versions of the Megane RS, then Seat took it by some margin with the new Leon Cupra. But this could take it from both.
It's the new Honda Civic Type R - or at least a conceptual preview of the one to follow. We drove an early prototype of the forthcoming Japanese hot hatch while in town for the Tokyo Motor Show a few months ago, where Honda made no secret of its Eiffel-bound aspirations. Now it has taken a big step closer with the concept you see here.
Previewing the extreme styling that will set the next Type R apart from ordinary Civics (or the European-spec hatchback on which it's based), the concept has a giant rear spoiler, enlarged grilles, hood vents and widened fenders packing both 20-inch alloys and additional air vents.
Honda exec says US market near capacity, could hurt subprime buyers
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Is there a point in the US auto industry where companies should start considering the welfare of their customers ahead of selling more cars? American Honda Executive Vice President of Sales John Mendel thinks that level exists, and we may be getting very close to it.
According to Automotive News, Mendel believes that finding more customers in the market could require pursuing subprime buyers and offering longer-term loans. However, he refuses to use those tactics. While selling models this way can improve things briefly, the strategies hurt resale prices and lower vehicle profits over time. The company won't do "stupid things in the short-term that damage the person who bought yesterday," he said to Automotive News. "It's a very, very short-term tactic especially in the subprime area."
American Honda, which combines the Acura and Honda brands, has seen market share decline from 9.7 percent to 9.1 percent through July 2014, according to Automotive News, and Autoblog's By the Numbers stats showed it posted falling sales in five of the seven months with data this year. Though, Mendel claims that was partially because the company focused on retail sales over fleets. The delays of the launches for the Honda Fit and Acura TLX likely didn't help either.
