2010 Honda Fit Hb Sport With Navigation on 2040-cars
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
The Fit is quite perky to drive, thanks to a 117-horsepower, 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC variable valve timing system. The engine provides enough power even with the available automatic transmission, which has five speeds for better passing response and more relaxed highway cruising. A precise-shifting 5-speed manual is standard, but for those who want the best of both worlds, the Fit Sport model, when fitted with the automatic transmission, features paddle-shifters alongside the steering wheel. With its front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam setup, the Fit's suspension utilizes a common layout, yet handles nimbly. Ride quality is firm but also absorbent. The rack-and-pinion electric power steering system is especially good, with crisp turn in and a firm, direct feel of the road in tight corners. Above all else, it's the Fit's interior that will wow shoppers. Front seats are ample for tall or large adults, an armrest is available in front. Thanks to plenty of headroom all around and longer cushions than is customary for back seats. What's more, the Fit's rear seat folds neatly down to create a flat floor with just one continuous motion, with no need to even remove the rear headrest. The steering wheel adjusts for tilt and telescope, and there's a footrest for the driver. There's also an abundance of cupholders and cubbies. Thanks to the versatile configuration, the fit is surprisingly commodious for large cargo items. With the seats down, there's 57.3 cubic feet of space--enough for items like a big-screen TV or cumbersome sports equipment--and there's no tall edge to lift over when loading items. The 2010 Honda Fit not only folds the seats down for a flat, but also locks both rear seats up in one motion for extra convenient space behind both front seats. Also of note on the 2010 Fit is a new body structure that's not only much stiffer but also includes Honda's ACE body structure, which is designed for better compatibility with vehicles of different sizes. The Fit has done well in crash tests and is the only vehicle in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's 'Minicar' category to achieve Top Safety Pick status for 2009. Standard safety equipment on the Fit includes anti-lock brakes and active front headrests, along with front side and side-curtain airbags. Electronic stability control, a feature not usually seen on low-priced small cars, is available on the Fit Sport. This Honda Fit includes a long list of features such as air conditioning plus power windows and locks--along with a list of the most popular features like larger alloy wheels, remote entry, cruise control, navigation system and a premium 160-watt sound system with USB input and MP3 capability. It's also dressed up a bit more, with aerodynamic spoilers and additional chrome trim outside, plus perforated leather trim for the steering wheel. Honda, Mercedes top KBB brand image awards [w/video]
Wed, 09 Apr 2014Kelley Blue Book has announced the winners of its 2014 Brand Image Awards, which look at brands with "attributes that capture the attention and enthusiasm" of customers in the market for a new car.
The award is divided up into luxury brands and everyone else non-luxury brands, with a number of sub-awards in each group. There's also a single award for truck brands. Taking the crown for the best everyman brand (for the second year in a row) is Honda, while Mercedes-Benz was the king of the luxury brackets. Ford, meanwhile, had the best image among pickup buyers.
Honda was also named the most trusted brand among shoppers, while Kia, GMC, Mini and Chevrolet also snagged awards for value, refinement, performance and styling, respectively. Secondary winners in the luxury ranks include Lexus, Buick, Porsche and Jaguar. Mercedes was also named the most refined luxury brand.
2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year entries announced
Wed, Jul 6 2016Over 40 vehicles will compete for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. If that name looks a little strange, it's because the competition added a third category. In years past, pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, commercial vans, and minivans competed for the same award. That's why there were occasionally weird comparisons, like last year's competition between the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Titan XD. The new format separates pickups and commercial vans into the truck contest and CUVs, SUVs, and minivans into the utility competition. A complete list of eligible vehicles is below, but here are a few highlights. For one, the entire list of entries has a luxurious lean. Of the 43 vehicles, nearly half of them are from premium brands. There are two eligible Bentleys – the Bentayga and Mulsanne – the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-, E-, and S-Class Maybach. The performance ranks are lofty, too, with the Audi R8, Acura NSX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes SL- and SLC-Class, Porsche 718, and F-150 Raptor. The mainstream entries are just as comprehensive. From the Chrysler Pacifica to the Chevrolet Cruze to the Fiat 124 Spider to the Mitsubishi Mirage, NACTOY has covered an enormous price range with this year's contestants. Of course, these are only the eligible vehicles. They'll need to run through three rounds of judging, starting in September at NACTOY's traditional Hell, MI, test drive. The Canadian and American journalists involved in the judging will announce this year's nine finalists – three in each category – on December 6. 1964 Honda SM600 roadster gets elemental in Jay Leno's Garage
Mon, Dec 22 2014Honda has made a handful of sports cars in the past, with examples like the Acura NSX and Honda S2000 standing as noteworthy examples. But before either of them came along, there was the Honda S600. And Jay Leno has a beautiful example from 1964 in his garage for this latest video installment. The inspiration for the new JDM S660, the original S600 came out in 1964 – which just happened to be the same year that Honda broke into Formula One. And you can hear that relationship when the dual-chain-drive 600cc inline-four revs up to its 9,500-rpm redline. It may not have had the power of contemporary British roadsters from MG and Triumph, but it had plenty of character. When Leno got a hold of this one – a top spec SM model – he and his team took it apart nut and bolt, powder-coated the chassis, resprayed the body and put it all back together better than new. But you'll want to hear Jay tell the story himself in this fifteen-minute video clip. News Source: Jay Leno's Garage via YouTube Celebrities Honda Convertible Classics Videos Jay Lenos Garage
