Up for sale is my 1998 Honda Turbo Coupe.  No expense was spared building up this car.  It is an extremely reliable daily driver with A/C, heat and power steering.  I never intended for it to be a race car although you certainly could use it as such.

The engine was built from a bare block with forged rods and pistons, head studs, full valve job etc.
A rebuilt transmission was purchased with carbon fiber syncros and an M-Factory limited slip that is streetable.  I very streetable Competition clutch was put to handle the extra power.  The car drives like stock and is just as smooth.  At least till you lay into the gas pedal then it takes off like a rocket.

Since the car was a daily driver I wanted to keep it mostly stock looking and have that "sleeper" look.  You'll notice the car has a full 3" exhaust built but it exits behind the rear bumper where you can't see and the original tail pipe was welded in place as a decoy for a stock look.  Very sneaky :)  It's also very quiet and no one will ever know what's lurking under the hood.  I did include an electric cutout so when you feel the need to be loud and obnoxious open it up and have fun.

From the front you'll notice the intercooler in the lower bumper if you're a car person with a sharp eye but 99% of the people don't know the difference.  It's pretty funny watching various BMWs and other sedans that think they're fast try and pass you.

I had custom gauges made just for the car that go on the pillar in good taste.  They say "Honda Racing" on them and glow blue at night.  They look very sharp and I get a lot of complements on them all the time.

All name brand parts were used on the turbo kit.  No cheap chinese knock off parts on there.  Precision turbo, Tial waste gate, HKS BOV, ID 1000 injectors which are absolute cream of the crop top of the line injectors and provide stock idle and drivability characteristics.  They were very expensive injectors but well worth the money.   The car has the Hondata S300 tuning system in it which is also top of the line and sort after.  It has a very user friendly user interface that will allow anyone to tinker with the tunes or build their own.  The vehicle also comes with a J&S Vampire anti-knock system.  This is a wonderful (and expensive) system that monitors for any knock and automatically pulls timing from the motor saving you from accidentally blowing it with to much timing or to little octane in the fuel.

I have the car tuned on both 91 pump gas as well as E85.  On E85 the car can run a lot more boost and timing and honestly is down right dangerous it's so fast.  I would not recommend this car for a young driver with little driving experience.

If you can keep your foot out of boost you'll still enjoy 30 ~ 32 mpg average driving around.  Absolutely fantastic for a daily driver.  If you have a lead foot and drive like every stop light is a drag race and every highway is a nascar track you're only going to see 24 ~ 26 which is still not bad at all considering the power.  My mixed driving of boost and normal driving seems to average me around 28+. I have put well over $10k into building this car up and that doesn't even include the original purchase price so my reserve of $6800 is a steal.  Unfortunately with 5 vehicles I don't hardly drive this one anymore so I'd rather someone gets to enjoy it instead of just sitting. I'm sure I've missed a lot of stuff I've done like upgraded fuel pumps, high powered cooling fans etc.  I'll try to update the post as I think of more stuff.

The build only has 7000 miles on it so you're getting basically a brand new engine and transmission.  Not to mention it's built strong and turbo'd!

First production HondaJet nearly completed

Tue, 20 May 2014

We may mention Honda around here mostly for its cars, but the Japanese industrial giant makes a whole lot more than that. The company builds motorcycles, ATVs, marine engines, power equipment and - soon enough - jet airplanes.
Honda has been working on its first private jet since before 2006, and after a good eight years or so of prototype testing, began building its first production version a bit over a year ago. And now it's almost ready for delivery.
The first production HondaJet is nearing completion and has had its GE Honda HF120 jet engines installed, after which it will conduct initial ground tests before taking its first flight this summer. The jet is painted in a new shade of pearl green with a gold stripe, added to the color catalog alongside the silver, red, yellow and blue options.

Honda speeds down memory lane with its first F1 car

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

Though most Formula One teams are based in the UK, they hail from places all around the world. There are teams from Russia, India and Malaysia, but in the 1960s, the idea of an F1 team coming from as far away as Japan was unthinkable in what was a predominantly European racing series. That's just the notion that Honda aimed to upset when it entered the car you see here in the 1964 Formula One World Championship.
With a 1.5-liter V12 dispensing 220 horsepower through a six-speed manual (its shifter necessitating the steering wheel mounted left-of-center), the 1964 Honda RA271 was built around an aluminum monocoque in a package that looks like a Formula Vee car you could erect in your garage, but it state-of-the-art when it was built. Speaking of which, Honda only built one, and today it's part of the Honda Collection Hall at Motegi, but the priceless racer made the trip down to Japan's capital so we could check it out at the Tokyo Motor Show. Awfully nice of Honda, we'd say. Check it out in our gallery of live shots from the show floor above.

Honda to field this awesome Civic Tourer wagon in BTCC next season

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

We all know that the letters BTCC stand for British Touring Car Championship. But one of those Cs might as well stand for Civic, so dominant has the Honda team been in one of the most competitive tin-top racing series in the world. Honda has taken the manufacturers' and teams' titles in the BTCC for the past four years running, and the championship-winning drivers for the past three years have claimed the prize behind the wheel of a Civic. While that might have proven enough for any other manufacturer, Honda is returning again next season to defend its dominant position, and has just revealed the new car with which it intends to do so.
Next year Honda will be back on the grid with another Civic, only this time it's based on the new Euro-spec Civic Tourer. That will make Honda the only team in the BTCC (and one of only a few worldwide) fielding a wagon-based racing car. In announcing the new BTCC-spec Civic Tourer, the Honda Yuasa Racing team only released this one photo and didn't reveal much in the way of details, but team manager Peter Crolla indicated that "the weight, wheelbase, layout and suspension remain the same" as the hatchback which it will replace, only with a longer roofline.
Testing of the new touring wagon will commence in January before returning champions Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal will pilot the new Civic Tourer in the season opener at Brands Hatch in the UK in late March. It remains to be seen what car Andrew Jordan (who took the title this year in another Civic with the Pirtek Racing team) will be driving next season, but in the meantime, you can check out the full press release below for more.
