Super storm Sandy flooded the new car dealerships of New Jersey and NYC destroying thousands of vehicles. Not all were destroyed, however. There were a few that sustained only minor damage in the form of water on the floorboards. As anyone who has driven in the winter knows, wet floorboards are not uncommon in cars. In fact, automobiles are engineered to withstand the effects from having water on the floorboards. The most important things to consider when looking at flood cars are: 1) How deep was the water? Did it rise above the floorboards and into the dashboard reaching the vehicle's sensitive electronics? If so, unless all of the electronics have been replaced, it should never see the road again. The cost of repair will surely send that car to the junkyard. 2) Assuming the water didn't rise above the floorboards into the dash, was the car allowed to dry out inside before the stench of stagnant water and mold and mildew began to grow? Often flood vehicles will sit weeks or even months while insurance companies work through the claim process and acquire a title in their name. If the windows are not rolled down to air out the car, the smell and mildew take over. At this point it's nearly impossible to remove the smell. 3) Can the seller tell you the depth of the water in the car? If not, stay away! Vehicles that have been water damaged will always have a water line indicating the depth of the water, similar to the ring you will find around the bath tub. This water line can sometimes be seen on the side of the vehicle. If not, check the door jambs and any area that will contain water such as pockets on the bottom of doors or the door pull that you grab to shut the door. Other areas to check would be behind trim panels, in the trunk, or in the motor or transmission. If water has entered the motor or transmission, it may have caused damage there and has likely reached the electronics in the dashboard, so stay away.
So what am I selling? Brand new Honda Civics and Odyssey minivans that are all floorboard floods in which water didn't rise into the dashboard. Before you take delivery of these vehicles, the interior will be professionally cleaned and will look and smell new. You can choose one before it's cleaned just so you know what it looked like before. You can also buy one and clean it yourself and save even more. So far all other Honda models I've looked at have been too deep in the water but there will be thousands more Hondas and other makes and models too. I personally look at every one of the vehicles I buy and I have 28 years of experience in buying and selling vehicles such as these. Come out and take a look at: Remington Auto Parts, Inc, 12250 Strodes Mill Rd,
 Remington, VA 22734.  Office: 800-259-1814 Cell: 540-423-2148.

This is a new vehicle and has never been owned or titled by and end user. It's ownership chain went from manufacturer to insurance company to dealer.  The floorboards of this vehicle got wet from the flooding caused by Super Storm Sandy.  The carpet was removed, cleaned, dried, and reinstalled.  It looks new, smells new, runs and drives new.

The manufacturer will no longer warranty this vehicle, but for an additional amount you can buy a warranty.  If you are interested in a warranty, please ask before you buy this vehicle. Ownership of this vehicle was transfered to me on a salvage certificate and the car underwent a DMV inspection, and I now have a clear Virginia title to transfer to the buyer.  The clear title will carry the brand "water damaged," and will convey to the buyer the same rights of ownership as any non branded title.  A sample of what the title will look like can be provided before purchase upon request.  The brand is to protect consumers from being sold vehicles that have a damage history without their knowledge.

It is never a good idea to make an expensive purchase without first looking at the product in person unless you are familiar with the seller.  I recommend that anyone interested in purchasing this vehicle should come look at it in person.  Customer's mechanics are welcome to inspect the vehicle and will have access to an automobile lift if desired.  If however, you purchase it without seeing it in person, then inspect it at my place of business after the completion of the auction and find that it was misrepresented, I will refund any money received by me and cancel the sale.  No returns will be accepted after customer takes delivery of the vehicle unless the customer purchases warranty coverage that provides for that.  Please ask any question you have before the completion of the auction.

After purchase of the vehicle I will require a deposit of 10% of the purchase price within 48 hours of the auction's end.  Methods of payment for this transaction shall be escrow.com, wire transfer, or a cashier's check from a nationally recognized bank.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR.  I HAVE DONE ALL THE THE WORK NECESSARY AT THE DMV TO CONVERT THE SALVAGE TITLE TO A CLEAR TITLE.  IT NOW HAS A CLEAR NON SALVAGE TITLE AND IS READY TO REGISTER AND DRIVE.

Toyota Camry, Honda Civic inventories mounting as US automakers make inroads

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

Two of the hottest-selling cars in America aren't quite as hot as they used to be. The Toyota Camry and Honda Civic are both seeing dealer supplies increase in the face of renewed competition from the much-improved Detroit Three.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the Camry's dealer inventory is 15 days higher than its seasonal average, while the Civic is 25 days above average. Things aren't expected to get better for Toyota and Honda, as RBC Capital Markets analyst Joseph Spak marked the two Japanese offerings as "at risk for reduced output."
The Detroit Three, meanwhile, are seeing supplies dwindle as demand increases, especially for the Ford Fusion, which has seen an 18-percent increase in 2013 sales, and the Chevrolet Cruze, which was second only to the Camry in June 2013 sales.

Honda recalls 2.23 million vehicles to replace Takata inflators

Thu, Feb 4 2016

The Basics: Honda and Acura will recall 2.23 million vehicles in the US. The affected models are: 2005-2012 Acura RL 2007-2011 Honda CR-V 2007-2016 Acura RDX (early production MY 2016 vehicles only) 2007-2014 Honda Ridgeline 2009-2014 Honda Fit 2009-2014 Acura TL 2010-2014 Honda FCX Clarity 2010-2014 Honda Insight 2010-2013 Acura ZDX 2011-2015 Honda CR-Z 2013-2016 Acura ILX (early production MY 2016 vehicles only) The Problem: These vehicles have Takata's PSDI-5 airbag inflator on the driver's side, and this part could rupture if the airbag deploys. Injuries/Deaths: There are no reported ruptures of the PSDI-5 inflator in Honda or Acura vehicles. However, Takata's exploding components have links to at least 10 deaths worldwide because they can spray shrapnel at occupants. The Fix: Honda and Acura dealers will replace the inflators with parts from an alternative supplier. If You Own One: The repairs will begin this summer. Owners will receive a letter notifying them about the recall within 60 days and will get a second message when the parts are available. The company will prioritize older models in high-humidity regions first because these inflators would be most likely to rupture. More Information: Honda and Acura have now recalled 8.51 million vehicles in the US to replace their driver or passenger side inflators. This latest expansion came in the wake of a driver death from an airbag rupture in a Ford Ranger. Ford and Mazda already enlarged their safety campaigns. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also announced Audi, BMW, Daimler Vans, Mercedes-Benz, Saab, and Volkswagen would have recalls for this issue, too. Statement by American Honda Regarding Nationwide Recall of Certain Takata PSDI-5 Driver Front Airbag Inflators Feb 3, 2016 - TORRANCE, Calif. Approximately 2.23 million Takata PSDI-5 driver front airbag inflators will require replacement in Honda and Acura vehicles in the U.S. No PSDI-5 inflator ruptures have been reported in Honda or Acura vehicles Takata inflators will be replaced with parts from an alternative supplier with repairs beginning in the Summer of 2016 Based on a recent Defect Information Report (16E-005) from the airbag inflator supplier, Takata, Honda will conduct a national recall (16V-061) of approximately 2.23 million Honda and Acura vehicles in the United States to replace, free of charge to vehicle owners, the PSDI-5 Takata driver front airbag inflators installed in those vehicles.

Honda recalling 183k cars and crossovers over unintended braking issue

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

A recall has been issued for nearly 183,000 Honda and Acura brand vehicles from the 2005 and 2006 model years. The problem stems from a potential malfunctions to the vehicles' stability control and braking systems.
Drivers have reported a malfunction to Honda's Vehicle Stability Assist system, though to date, no crashes or injuries have been reported as a result of it. Some of the vehicles' Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) control units may have an electric capacitor that was damaged during manufacture. A damaged control unit could cause the VSA system to apply brake force for a "fraction of a second" without any driver input, or could add additional brake force if it malfunctions while the driver is already braking. Either example could increase the risk of a crash.
To fix the issue, Honda will install a new electrical sub-harness, free of charge to the owner. The recall specifies 101,000 Honda Pilot (pictured), 60,000 Acura MDX and 21,000 Acura RL vehicles from the 2005 model year will be affected. An additional 800 MDX crossovers from the 2006 model year are also included in the recall. In addition, 51,000 of the affected 2005 Pilots will be inspected to be sure that a ground bolt for the VSA system is properly tight. Should this bolt come lose, similar unexpected brake activation may occur.
