2006 Honda Civic Si Coupe on 2040-cars
Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States
Description: Selling my 2006 Civic Si coupe. I am the second owner, purchased it from Sport Honda 11/9/10 with 51,000 miles. Love this car, had an LX before it, very well built and reliable. The Si is lots of fun to drive, the perfect balance of sport and practicality. Plenty of power, the engine will smoothly rev to 8000+ rpm, and will probably be the last of the high revving, naturally aspirated VTEC engines made due to new emissions regulations. Transmission shifts smoothly, close ratio 6 speed gearbox. The factory equipped Torsen LSD greatly improves traction. Very nice interior, good sound system. Lots of room in the front seats, the rear can be cramped for taller passengers. Plenty of trunk space. Capable of 30+ mpg highway, 25 city, I averaged around 28. Condition: Car has been very well maintained, well-loved but not abused, and really hasn't had any issues since I've owned it. No accidents. Synthetic oil changed between 5-7k miles. All fluids are up to date, just replaced air filters as well. Accessory belt, idler pulley, and brakes were replaced last summer (Hawk HPS pads, Brembo OE rotors) and clutch was replaced last fall (Exedy OE replacement) The brake work and replacement clutch could easily cost you $2000 to have done at a dealership, so consider that when looking at other cars. Valve clearance has been recently adjusted, I installed new NGK spark plugs this week, and did a compression test at that time, 195-190psi across the board which is excellent. CD player was replaced last year. A/C was also recharged last summer and is working great. Tires are Bridgestone RE970AS replaced about 20,000 miles ago, they do have a good bit of wear but should last at least another year. Cosmetic issues are minor, I tried to get some pics showing examples. No major dents or rust, torn fabric or anything like that. These are popular tuner cars, for better or worse. The only modification this car has had is a custom tune with Hondata FlashPro. This greatly improves the overall responsiveness of the car by fixing some of the goofy drive-by-wire programming, as well as significantly improving mid-range torque by lowering the VTEC crossover and optimizing fuel/ignition. I can reflash it to the factory programming if you would prefer. Also included with the car is a clear Maryland title, original manual, three keys, trunk tools, spare tire, Honda all season floor mats and original carpet mats, Features: 197 Horsepower DOHC i-VTEC Engine Close-Ratio 6-Speed Manual Transmission Helical Limited-Slip Differential 17' Alloy Wheels ABS and EBD Tilt/Telescope Steering Wheel Front & Side Curtain Airbags Power Windows, Locks and Mirrors Moonroof Immobilizer Theft Deterrent Remote Entry & Trunk Release Cruise Control & Steering Wheel Audio Controls Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel & Shift Knob Aluminum Sport Pedals 350-Watt AM/FM/XM/CD/AUX 7 Speaker Audio Shipping and payment: $500 deposit required from winning bidder. If you would like to arrange some form of shipping, please contact me. I would really prefer to sell this car in person, and will be happy to let you look the car over before payment. Test drive available to winning bidder, after deposit is made. You must have a valid driver's license and experience driving a manual transmission car. I will accept cash in person. No checks. After payment I will sign the title over to you and provide you the lien release so that you may apply for a new title in your name. I will be removing my tags from the car, so if you intend to drive the car home you will have to provide your own. Note - I have described this car to the best of my ability and have nothing to hide, and would be happy to answer any questions you have. However I am not a dealership, I am not asking a dealership price, and as such I am not offering any sort of warranty. Once I sign over the title, it is your responsibility. If you would like to bring a mechanic or knowledgeable friend/family member with you to inspect the car before agreeing on a deal, I welcome it. |

2014 Honda Accord V6 Touring
Mon, 03 Mar 2014America's midsize sedan segment is one of the most crowded and fiercely competitive in the business. The Toyota Camry has long been our nation's best seller, while the Honda Accord has dutifully come in second place, like some sort of codependent Cal Naughton Jr. riding Ricky Bobby's back bumper.
There was that one year, 2001, when the Accord briefly broke the Camry's streak, marring what would today have been a 17-year-long run of best-selling car titles. The Accord pulled the opposite move in 2011, letting sales slip far enough to let not only the Toyota by, but the Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion, as well. Aside from those anomalies, the Camry and Accord have been first and second in this segment since before many of you readers could even drive.
It's 2014, and these frenemies have never before faced a threat to their world order as strong as today's class of family sedans. The aforementioned Altima and Fusion are perhaps the most capable challengers, but the Chevrolet Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Volkswagen Passat and Mazda6 are all capable of convincing new buyers to walk their way.
New Land Rover Defender aces Euro crash tests
Wed, Dec 9 2020While the 2020 Land Rover Defender has not yet been crash-test by U.S. safety agencies such as NHTSA or IIHS, we do now have results for Europe's NCAP crash tests and accident-avoidance tests, where the Defender earned the top rating of five stars. The Defender model used for NCAP testing was the 110 variant with right-hand drive. The NCAP regimen includes several different crash tests: an offset front crash test into a moveable barrier with both the vehicle and the barrier traveling at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a front crash test into a full-width fixed barrier at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a side-impact crash test with a barrier traveling at 60 km/hr (37 mph) hitting the driver's door, and a side-impact test where the car strikes a pole at 32 km/hr (20 mph). The Defender's scores for the adult occupant and for a child occupant were both 85%. Additionally, the agency looks at the severity of injuries of the vehicle striking a pedestrian, taking data for a pedestrian's head hitting the hood, and their upper and lower leg being hit by the front of the vehicle. There is also testing of the vehicle's automatic emergency braking system's ability to avoiding hitting a pedestrian and a cyclist under various scenarios. The efficacy of active-safety systems for avoiding collisions with other vehicles is also tested. The Defender's score for protecting pedestrians and cyclists was 71%. The driver assists scored 79%. Results for several European-market cars were released together with those for the Defender, the most noteworthy of which was for the Honda E. The electric city car fared less well than the big Land Rover, garnering a score of four stars overall. In the same battery of test, the Honda E scored 76% for adult occupant protection, 82% for a child occupant, 62% for protecting pedestrians and cyclists, and 65% for its driver assists. Race recap: 2015 British Grand Prix is a testament to timing
Mon, Jul 6 2015In front of his home crowd, Lewis Hamilton actually had to work for pole position at the British Formula One Grand Prix. The World Champion couldn't get on top of the setup for his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on Friday, lapping behind teammate Nico Rosberg and the two Ferraris. Come Saturday, after a few alterations and a whole lot of wing to clamp down on understeer, Hamilton returned to his regular program at the front, taking pole position by just over a tenth of a second from his teammate. Williams, thought to be headed for another stretch in the weeds a few races ago, showed its best strength all year. The Grove team got both cars on the second row and in front of the Ferraris, Felipe Massa qualifying ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas, but they were eight and nine tenths behind the Mercedes'. Kimi Raikkonen out-qualified Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel for the second time this year, and only the first time in a straight-up battle with two healthy cars. But more than a second behind the two cars at the front, and with two nearly-impossible-to-pass Williams' in front, neither the Finn nor the German is happy with where they are. Daniil Kvyat claimed seventh, his side of the garage at Infiniti Red Bull Racing having got through the weekend to that point without a single complaint about their Renault power unit. Carlos Sainz, Jr. put a single Toro Rosso inside the top ten in eighth position, ahead of Nico Hulkenberg who did the same for Sahara Force India by slotting in ninth. The second Infiniti Red Bull driven by Daniel Ricciardo did have an unspecified engine complaint – his car kept "bleeding power" on the straights – but even so he managed to qualify tenth with his second-fastest lap. The stewards deleted his best lap because he ran three centimeters outside the track limits at Copse, an infraction that stung a few other drivers as well. Up in front, what would sting the Mercedes-AMG Petronas drivers the most was the start. That's when a dearth of grip struck both Hamilton and Rosberg, allowing Massa and Bottas to slide right up the middle between them and take the first two places. The leapfrogging was so surprising that it looked like the Mercedes drivers were giving the Williams drivers a head start. They diced through the first corners, Hamilton sliding past Bottas into second place halfway through the lap. And then the safety car reported for duty.
