You've heard the term that Hondas run forever. Well, here is a great example. This is a 2001 Honda Civic LX 4 Door 5 Speed. It has Power Windows, Locks, Tilt, Cruise, AM/FM Cassette with a 6 Disc CD changer that works great. It also has 4 new General tires on it with about 2,000 miles on them.
I bought the car a year ago and drive it to work 60 miles round trip. It has never let me down. It always starts, runs, shifts great, peppy, and gets at least 36 miles per gallon with as much as 42 at times. I am selling because I bought a new Accord and we have too many cars. It does have high miles, but cosmetically is in really good shape as you can see by the pictures. The seats are clean and comfortable. The interior is in nice clean condition. The exterior is in really good condition also. The glass is all good with no cracks. The lights are all good and work correctly. The paint is shiny and it really looks like a car with at least 100k miles less. I have gotten the car regularly serviced at Honda and there are some very minor issues. It has always had a check engine light on since I bought it and it was told to me that it has a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold--a common thing in Civics. I have never got it fixed because it is not annoying and it does get great mileage and the engine just purrs. I have looked and if you wanted to get a header for this car to correct it you can buy one for about $70 on ebay. It also is making a slight squeeling sound from the back brakes when they are applied. I pulled off the rear wheels and there still is some pad left--not a lot, but by rights it probably should have new brake shoes installed. It stops really nice and only occasionally you hear the noise. It also has a buzzing noise from the right front which I was told is a wheel bearing. It has done this since I have owned it--never got better, never got worse. I am being as honest as I can, and will tell you this is not a perfect car or new, what it is--is a really great, clean looking, dependable car that you can buy for 1/10th of the cost of a new one. The parts for this are cheap and with the body as good as it is, it is worth putting some money into it if you wanted to make it perfect. I have tried to describe this car to the best of my ability. Please check my feedback and bid with confidence.
I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. In fact if you would like it delivered I would do it for an additional fee. Thank you for looking

Honda flaunts freshened 2014 Civic Coupe at SEMA

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Honda took the wraps off its 2014 Civic Coupe (red car pictured above) and 2014 Civic Si (gray car in the gallery below) at SEMA today, revealing a mid-cycle refresh for each model. The standard Civic coupe benefits from several cosmetic enhancements, while the Civic Si gets the bulk of its improvements under the hood - precisely where the enthusiasts want them.
The best-selling Civic Coupe sports a new front fascia that is "fun and sporty," says the automaker. The more aggressive snout is a step in the proper direction, as its new shape and exclusive grille design gives the two-door a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from its sedan sibling. The rear end follows the same design language, as the lower portion of the urethane bumper gains some character - its smooth surface has been resculpted and recontoured. Newly available 18-inch wheels complete the exterior transformation.
The 2014 Civic Si benefits from a larger spoiler and new wheels, but the big news is in the powertrain. Honda has massaged the 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine and opened up the exhaust system. As a result, output climbs to 205 horsepower (up from 201) and torque increases to 174 pound-feet (up from 170). The power gains aren't extraordinary, but they should allow the coupe to hit 60 miles per hour from a standstill in about six seconds flat and still return over 30 mpg on the open road. Scroll down for the official release.

Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more collaborating to increase fuel efficiency

Sun, 25 May 2014

Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Daihatsu have announced an alliance that will see a push to improve fuel economy from both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines by as much as 30 percent before the end of the decade.
The newly assembled Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines put the roughly $20-million project together, with the Japanese government committing to half the cost while the eight manufacturers will chip in the rest.
According to Automotive News, the automakers will team up and share basic research on internal-combustion engines in a bid to cut costs. Eventually, the results of the research will find its way into a production vehicle, although it's unclear just when we'll see the fruits of this partnership on the road.

Honda names first woman, foreigner to its board of directors

Mon, 24 Feb 2014

General Motors may have made headlines when it recently appointed the industry's first female CEO, but Honda has long lagged woefully behind the times when it comes to the diversity of its top management. In fact, its entire board has until now been composed entirely of Japanese men, with not a foreigner or a woman in sight. But as Reuters reports, that's all changing with the nominations to its latest board.
The slate of new directors named to Honda's board includes one Hideko Kunii, a gender-equality advocate and engineering professor from the Shibaura Institute of Technology. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Kunii spent the bulk of her career at Japanese electronic imaging company Ricoh. Alongside Kunii, Honda has also named Tomoko Mizoguchi to the board as responsible for the company's South American operations, making him the first foreigner to serve on the company's board of directors. (Well, almost: Mizoguchi was born in Brazil, but of Japanese ancestry.)
The appointments follow the recent switch Honda made in its official language policy from Japanese to English, signaling a shift in outlook for a company that has long stuck to traditional Japanese business models. Honda was the first of the major Japanese automakers to begin manufacturing in the United States, and has long relied on hiring local managers to run its regional operations around the world. It has, however, resisted placing foreigners on its board of directors until now, relying instead on senior male managers promoted from within its ranks to serve on its board. This in comparison to Toyota, which has seven foreigners and one woman on its 68-member board of directors, and Nissan, which has fifteen foreigners (including its chief executive) and one woman on its 58-member board.
