Please note, this vehicle is being sold AS-IS. The mileage in the photo (177,801) is the actual mileage as of today (4/20/2014), but I will be driving this car in-town until it is sold.

I am selling my 1995 Honda Civic EX which has 177,801 miles on the engine and still runs great. This car has automatic transmission and an automatic sunroof. The exterior is black and the interior is gray. I bought this car in 2008 and it has been my daily driver ever since. It has been a very sturdy vehicle and I have never had to do any serious repairs on it.

The car starts without problem. I did not have any issues starting it through the cold winter. This would be the perfect car for somebody who is looking for something cheap and reliable, but it does have some minor issues. Please see below for details.

Issues:

  • Engine has leaked oil for several years. I check the levels frequently and refill every month or so. The issue has been consistent and has not increased. I do not know what the cause is, and I have had no other issues with the engine.
  • A hole has started to rot through under the carpet on the driver's side. See picture to get an idea of how big it is. It would be a good idea to replace the floorboard.
  • There is a slight alignment issue; if you hold the steering wheel completely straight the car veers slightly to the right.
  • The ABS light comes on, though I have not had any issues with the brakes.
  • The air conditioning blows warm.
  • The driver's side window does not roll down. It occasionally shifts down by itself so the window is open about an inch. I always push it back up with my hands.
  • The rear door on the passenger's side does not open from the outside.
  • There are a few small cigarette burns on the backseat and a few under the floormat on the driver's side. This car has not been smoked in for over two years, so I do not believe there to be any smoke smell.
  • The carpet has some burns and stains. There are spots where the carpet is worn and discolored.
  • There are no rear speakers.
  • There is some rust on the outside, and the paint is in poor condition. See pictures for details.

Repairs:

  • Muffler replaced last year
  • Brake Master Cylinder replaced about 3 years ago

  • The hood latch is broken. My mechanic rigged it to open from the outside - there is a small latch near the hood that opens it.

Recharge Wrap-up: Green Car award for Volvo XC90, MN air better from biodiesel

Thu, Apr 7 2016

The Honda CR-V could return with a plug-in hybrid option. Expected to debut in the fall of 2017, the PHEV could use a 2.0-liter I4 plus an electric motor. It's possible that the new CR-V is being developed in North America, and will borrow design cues from the Honda Civic. There also could be a seven-seat version. Beyond that, details are pretty scarce. Read more at Hybrid Cars, and from Response JP. UC Davis will present findings from a CARB-commissioned study on customer valuation of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). Dr. Ken Kurani of the university's Institute of Transportation Studies will report on consumer attitudes toward ZEVs, and the differences between those valuations and market behavior. In Kurani's survey, respondents had the opportunity to design their own car with an in-survey game. Almost a quarter of people designed some sort of EV, including plug-in hybrids and fuel cell vehicles. Read more from CARB, or at Green Car Congress. Minnesota's biodiesel efforts have improved air quality. According to the American Lung Association in Minnesota, summer and winter blends of biodiesel have prevented the emission of 130 tons of particulate matter, 319 tons of hydrocarbon and 2,634 tons of carbon monoxide every year, as well as a total of 3.7 million tons of CO2 over the last 10 years. Minnesota requires a B10 biodiesel blend during the summer months, and B5 throughout the winter. Read more from Biodiesel Magazine. The Volvo XC90 has received the Canadian Green Car Award for Most Efficient Three-Row Family Vehicle. Beating out the Ford Explorer 2.3-liter EcoBoost and the Honda Pilot, Volvo's seven-seat crossover was chosen for its mass market appeal, and a variety of qualities both practical and green. Judges look at value, fuel economy, emissions, performance and technology among other features. The XC90 is available as a plug-in hybrid with about 17 miles of all-electric driving range. Read more in the press release below. Volvo XC90 Wins Canadian Green Car Award The Most Awarded SUV Named Most Efficient Three-Row Family Vehicle RICHMOND HILL, ON. (April 7th, 2016.) The judges of the 2016 Canadian Green Car Award announced their category winners today, with the Volvo XC90 winning the Most Efficient Three-Row Family Vehicle category. The other finalists in the category were the Ford Explorer 2.3-litre EcoBoost and the Honda Pilot.

Honda Insight finally, officially dead

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

Earlier this week, we told you that the Honda Insight was scheduled to get the axe - something that had been rumored for a long time. Now, Honda has officially confirmed that the Insight is being put out of our its misery. That's right, America's most affordable mass-produced hybrid will officially die after the 2014 model year, with production scheduled to end this summer. Honda says that, moving forward, it will focus its efforts on expanding its newer two-motor hybrid system found in the Accord. Of course, this news doesn't exactly give us much hope for the CR-Z hatchback's longevity, either. Scroll down for the official release.

'Car Wars' says Ford, Honda to pick up share, Fiat-Chrysler ambitions downplayed

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Don't look for a tremendous shifts in automotive market share over the next three years because it might not be coming. That's at least according to the annual Car Wars report by John Murphy, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research.
In the report's analysis of automakers' market share from 2013 to 2017, it predicts only small changes among the major companies. Ford and Honda see the biggest positive effect with an estimated 0.5 percent increase in their shares over the next three years; to 16.2 percent and 10.3 percent respectively. On the flip side, European automakers and Nissan are expected to lose 0.2 percent each to fall to 8.3 percent and 7.8 percent each respectively. The rest of the industry is predicted to hold steady as it is now.
The biggest loser in that prediction might be Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles. The report certainly throws a wet blanket on its plan for significant gains in market share. Murphy told The Detroit News that the company's goal was "almost unattainable."
