1990 Honda Civic Ef Hatchback 5-speed Manual Clean Rust-free 170k on 2040-cars
Boonton, New Jersey, United States
Exceptionally nice 1990 Honda Civic EF 3-door hatch, with the desirable 5-speed manual transmission. I'm only selling this because I want to get into something modern and more comfortable for long commutes. It's a wonderful little car and I will be sad to see it go. It has been nothing but reliable.
Clean inside and out, needs nothing. 170,000 miles. I am only the second owner of this car. Purchased last October from the original owner's mechanic, who had fitted it with a new head gasket and distributor. PO and myself have maintained this car very well. It had the timing belt done at 158k by a Honda dealer, and I have the receipt for that service, so you're good on that expensive maintenance until at least 200k! Runs smooth and quiet, never overheats, gets 35-42mpg, and no blue or white smoke out the tailpipe! Clutch grabs nicely and has no slippage. Shift linkage is surprisingly tight and precise feeling. Handling is amazing. All around a blast to drive. This car has NO ROT OR STRUCTURAL RUST AT ALL. There are, however, a handful of surface scratches and spots in the paint that I will point out upon viewing, but it is otherwise very, very clean as you can see. The interior is extremely clean is only a couple little blemishes. Has a decent sounding stereo, good to plug your iPod into. AC WORKS. All electrical things work as they should, including the blinkers, blowers, etc. Valid inspection until 2015. The car is mostly stock with the obvious exception of the suspension. It is on a high quality combo of Koni Yellow shocks and Ground Control coilovers with Eibach springs. Right now it is sitting low but is very easily adjusted for height and ride comfort. It also has extended wheel studs which allow you to fit spacers. The wheel bearings were done along with these a couple months ago. It has a gorgeous set of refinished, powdercoated 14" Mugen CF-48s in burnt copper. I will also include the original 13" steelies. Tires are brand new 155/55s. Price is negotiable. All reasonable offers are considered. |

Acura NSX to be built in Ohio in 2015
Tue, 14 May 2013Honda today confirmed that the forthcoming Acura NSX hybrid supercar will be built at a brand-new facility in Ohio. This will be the company's third plant in Ohio, and will come as the result of a $70 million investment. Honda first hinted that NSX production would be coming to Ohio when the original concept car was revealed at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
Honda's new facility, called the Performance Manufacturing Center, will encompass a 184,000-square foot space inside of the automaker's former North American Logistics building and will employ 100 associates. As you might expect, the Performance Manufacturing Center is located just a few miles from Honda's American-based R&D facility, as well as the Marysville auto plant, where production of the 2014 Accord Hybrid will kick off this fall.
"The location of this facility is in the midst of one of the greatest collections of engineering and production talent in the world. So it makes sense that we will renew the dream and build this high-tech, supercar in Marysville, Ohio," said Hidenobu Iwata, president and CEO of Honda of America, in a press release.
Acura NSX prototype gets back on track
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Developing a new vehicle is not without its complications, we're sure, but usually things follow a fairly predictable progression: you develop a prototype, you test it, test it and test it again, then you put it into production. What you don't expect is that your prototype will burn to the ground, but that's what famously happened to the NSX which Honda engineers were testing a few months ago.
Fortunately, the Acura NSX prototype is back on track, both literally and figuratively, as you can see from this latest batch of spy shots snapped at the Nürburgring. This camouflaged prototype looks pretty much the same as the last one, only, you know... less crispy. Which is to say, it looks pretty much ready to hit showrooms.
The naysayers may point out that Honda chose colder and damper weather to put the NSX back into testing - thereby mitigating the risk of another fire - but we're sure the Japanese automaker has been working hard to fix the flammability issues, whatever may have caused them, over the past few months. At least, we hope they have.
NHTSA urges owners of recalled Takata airbag vehicles to take immediate action
Mon, 20 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Department of Transportation are taking the unusual step of issuing a followup press release urging owners of certain recalled vehicles "to act immediately" to fix their cars and trucks. The problem in question concerns the repair campaigns for rupturing Takata airbag inflators issued in June and covers a long list of models from Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Infiniti, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.
While NHSTA doesn't specifically say why the recall is vital in the new release, Toyota's own explanation in its newly announced renotification campaign earlier today sheds some new light on the topic. According to the Japanese automaker, in testing, Takata found a possible link between the rupturing airbag inflators and high humidity. NHTSA is advocating that all owners pursue repairs immediately if they haven't already done so already. This is especially crucial for those drivers especially in Florida, Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Hawaii because of the humid conditions there.
We don't need to tell you how dangerous an inadvertent airbag deployment could be - even in a stationary vehicle - but adding to the Takata issue is fears that the deployment could lead to shrapnel being sprayed into the cabin.
