Original owner expected to keep as "lifetime car" so regular maintenance. Dependable and fun car to drive. Great fuel efficiency (gets from 34 to 36 mph on freeway, good in-city too). Have maintenance records since '95 (lost others). Body treated with "Z-bar" anti-rust at purchase. Car originally bought in AZ, kept in CA and Utah until 2001. Been in VA since then, but now in Brooklyn, NY. Was in a low-speed accident (5 to 10 mph) in '94 which the hood was damaged and replaced. The paint on the replacement hood is recently failing. Have photos of original damage, as well as repair estimates, and can provide. Minor rust at wheel-well, passenger door sill and a parking lot ding done the first month of ownership (ding and run). A/C works, but fan rattles outside (don't hear in interior of car; exposed wire bundle under steering wheel since AC replaced in mid-nineties). Tires good. Interior is worn (have seat covers on front seats; dashboard has one 4" crack at windshield, the passenger AC grill is damaged). Intermittent click when making a turn at slow speed over last 18 years -- have had it looked at but no mechanic has been able to locate a problem (have the records). Will likely need a new clutch in the next year or so. Inspected last week in VA but had a piece of a sidelight missing that needs to be replaced to pass safety inspection. Selling as don't need a second car in Brooklyn, otherwise would be tempted to do a rebuild and put on classic car plates!

NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers
Fri, 08 Jun 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.
Honda concept dials M for minivan [w/video]
Sat, 20 Apr 2013Yes, it looks a bit, uh, toothy, but what you see here is a concept that previews a brand new small MPV specifically designed for the Chinese market. Called the Concept M, the swoopy Honda was designed in Japan and the automaker is currently aiming to launch a production version in China sometime in 2014.
Honda hasn't released many details about its small van concept, simply saying that it "offers the attributes of a passenger car while adding new value through the realization of a comfortable and spacious cabin space made possible by Honda's packaging technologies, and the fun of driving." Doesn't sound too bad to us.
Have a glance at the Concept M in the gallery above (full disclosure: we don't have live shots of this one), and take a look below for the official press blast direct from the MPV's Shanghai debut, as well as a promotional video showing the new concept from all angles. Oh, and be sure to turn your volume down before pushing the play button.
Honda ending CR-Z, Insight sales in Europe
Fri, Feb 21 2014Death by diesel? That may be the epitaph of the Honda Insight and CR-Z in Europe, where the Japanese automaker will discontinue sales of the two hybrid models before to the 2015 model-year. A Honda spokesman confirmed the discontinuation to Automotive News, and information on those models has been taken off of Honda's official websites in Germany, Spain and Italy. The European embrace of all things diesel and fuel efficient as well as competition from Toyota are the primary culprits. The cancellation is not a surprise. Insight sales in Europe fell a whopping 62 percent last year while CR-Z sales there plunged 66 percent. Combined, both models sold less than 2,000 units in Europe last year, Automotive News says, citing JATO Dynamics. Honda is having trouble moving the Jazz Hybrid (also known as the Fit) in Europe as well. European sales declined about 40 percent last year to around 4,500 units. Those numbers compare rather unfavorably to a 43 percent surge in Toyota's hybrid sales in Europe to about 153,000 units. The Insight may face the same fate in the US. Last year, US Insight sales fell 18 percent to 4,802 units, a small, small challenge to the more than 234,000 Toyota Prius variants sold in the US in 2013. Honda has not made an official statement on the Insight's fate here, but the sales are speaking for themselves.
