Thank you for looking at my 1978 Honda Civic 1200. This car is an honest survivor, almost all original as near as I can tell.  I did put a brown fender on the right side as you can see in the pictures. She really runs nice and body is mostly straight and gets a LOT of attention when I'm driving it.  Car just turned over 120k miles.  I bought the car in 2007 from my neighbor.  He said he bought it from the son of the original owner and it was just used locally as it sounded like the original owner was older, he thinks 120k was correct as well.  Since this only has a 5-digit odometer, I cannot 100% guarantee it's not 220k, but if you look at the car, it doesn't look like it has that much wear.

This car still has the original spare tire and the rim it's on looks brand new.  Since I have owned the car, I have replaced the brake master cylinder and rubber brake lines at the wheels, fixed the radio and installed a new antenna.  I think the radio might be original as well, but not sure, but it works nicely and the cassette player does work as well.  I also put in a new head cover gasket (NOT a head gasket).  The carpets are still nice in the car and overall it's pretty clean.  As you can see in the photos, the seats need covers or to be reupholstered.  I was also able to locate some very nice clean bumpers that really made a huge difference. All exterior lights work including the reverse lights.  I have had it garaged since I have owned it.  The paint is starting to oxidize a bit, but you can definitely still see some shiny-ness under that.  Looks good for a 35-year old car that did not come with clear coat!

What it needs:
-Upholstery (rear bench looks pretty good, but all other need replacement)
-Carb needs to be rebuilt (currently have it set higher so it won't stall)
-May need new thermostat or possibly radiator.
-Some rust in the engine compartment at the front on the inner fenders.  There is also minor surface rust on Right Quarter Panel where there is minor collision damage (VERY little elsewhere)
-Has a small oil leak from around the head cover gasket (NOT head gasket)
-Drivers door looks like someone broke into it.  Lock works, but sheet metal is damaged around the key hole and may need to be fixed to look better.

This is a fun little car and won't need much to be a good reliable daily driver.  I have run the car while parked and I noticed that it started to get hot, but I did NOT allow it to overheat.  I have driven this car many times and have no concerns about it's mechanical state.  Since it turned 120k, you may want to consider a timing belt (factory recommendation).

A few special items on this vehicle.  First off, it comes with a special Honda WOODEN steering wheel and the VIN ends with 90000. This is the trunk model, does NOT have a hatchback.

I have tried to be as thorough in my description as possible, however it is a 35 year old vehicle, so unfortunately I cannot give any kind of guarantee.  Is available as is, where is and buyer would be responsible for pick up or arranging transportation.  Vehicle is located in Spokane, WA and I would be happy to bring it to a shipper in this city.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Zipcar, Honda announce OneWay carsharing with 2015 Fit

Fri, May 2 2014

Zipcar has been around for over a dozen years, and now shares more than 10,000 cars on a short-term basis with 850,000 members around the world. But there's been one thing missing from the carsharing giant's quiver of options: the one-way rental. That changes today. For a select few in Boston, anyway. OneWay's Boston launch is so soft that Zipcar says it's not even sure how much it will charge. Zipcar has announced a new one-way carsharing option called (annoyingly) ONE>WAY. This new program soft launches in Boston today, and it's so soft that Zipcar says it's not even sure how much it will charge drivers who use the new service. What we do know is that OneWay exclusively uses the 2015 Honda Fit and will allow drivers to rent by the half hour as they pick up and drop off in two different locations. The standard Zipcar model requires the cars to be brought back to the original location and has a one-hour minimum. At least one membership fee will cover both standard Zipcar and Zipcar OneWay. The introduction of shorter-term, one-way rental may sound a bit like Car2go, the successful carsharing program started by Daimler. Zipcar representatives told AutoblogGreen that it did develop OneWay in response to member demand and that there are two main differences between the two carsharing services. First, since OneWay still uses the traditional reserved-for-Zipcar parking spot method (new ones will be established for OneWay), there will always be a guaranteed space when you arrive at your destination. Second, the Fit has a lot roomier than the Smart ForTwo used by Car2go. To see this point in action, check out the four happy hipsters in Zipcar's new ad for OneWay below. There are currently other Fits in Zipcar fleets in other cities, but the specially branded vehicles in the Boston trial program will need to be used with the OneWay vehicles. That means, for now at least, that users will specify a pick-up and drop-off location before renting the vehicle, said Kaye Ceille, the president of Zipcar. The 30-minute minimum might also someday be changed, depending on user feedback. There's a lot up in the air right now, but Zipcar did say that despite the fact that OneWay is intended for short trips and has reserved parking, the Fit EV will not be involved. That car simply doesn't offer the cargo flexibility that the standard Fit does and some of the reserved parking spots will be on the street, where putting in a charging station isn't feasible.

Honda and Mario Andretti cite pedestrians for excessive slowness

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

Honda and the Andretti family have a lot to celebrate at the moment. Andretti Autosport driver Ryan Hunter-Reay won the 2014 Indianapolis 500 in his Honda-powered car, and Marco Andretti, Mario's grandson, also managed to take the third step on the podium. Apparently, the victory is making them feel magnanimous because Honda and Mario Andretti are giving the chance to ride with him in a two-seat, open wheel car.
To promote the contest, they created the Honda Speed Patrol to ticket anyone going too slow. It's an interesting idea, and the chance to ride with Andretti would be the opportunity of a lifetime. Perhaps the biggest shock of the video, though, might be when you realize how short Mario is when you see him milling about in public. Scroll down to watch one of America's most respected racers cite people in Chicago for being too slow.
