I have for auction (1) 1990 HONDA CRX HF with 333,870.6 miles. I've been using this car for errand running for 2 years. Put about 2K miles on it. Good A to B car.  A/C and Heat Work. Title is Clean. Windows Roll Up and Down. Seats go Forward, Backwards, and Recline. Doors close and lock. Hatch release and gas door levers work. Aftermarket Wheels/Tires are 175/70/13's. Good tread. Current EPA MPG has been reduced to reflect "normal" driving, currently 40 City 47 Highway. I get 52MPG @ 60 MPH. It could do a lot better than that, but will need tuning.  I've taken it 150 miles at a time on the highway. Handles 75-90 MPH easily. CD player. Since the car is mostly stock, most of the things that people lose or throw away are still there.

Pics show body damage RF. Car was repaired to drive. Bumper and RF Fender are the same ones that were on it. Hood, T-Bar, Latch, Lights, Battery Tray were replaced w/used parts. Radiator, Condenser, Battery were replaced w/new. A/C could be colder. CV shafts may be worn. Tires need balancing. Seats have bolster wear. Seat Covers are worn. Cargo Carpet is loose. Paint is Faded. Windshield has a star lower right.  Door and Seat Belt Warning lights on dash blink. Climate Control plate is cracked(see pic). Wheel Center caps have minor cracks. Failed emissions test - 13.80 on a 12.00 standard for CO. HC .91 on a 1.00 standard, and NOX .98 on a 2.50 standard. That's Arizona, other states may vary. Too much gas in the air/fuel mixture. Extra HF intake manifold included if you want it. It needs a disconnect for the battery, I take the cable off when I leave it more than a day. Hood release has to be pulled twice to open hood. Confuses thieves. Left Hatch Hinge has been repaired. Doesn't line up perfectly. Splash panel under LF is loose. Interior odor/previous owner smoked. Car doesn't.

Car is being sold as is. I've tried to describe it in detail, but it is 23 years old and has its idiosyncracies. These cars were $5K-$10K in '08 when gas was $4 a gallon. It's already over that in some places. The car is not perfect, but real HF's are getting few and far between. Most have been gutted and modified for racing. With some restoration, this would make a great commuter. Priced accordingly. Thanks for looking.

Automakers teaming with Google to bring Android to cars this year

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

Remember how we mentioned that Hyundai would be offering a BlueLink infotainment app for Google Glass? And how last week, we told you about a rumored partnership between Audi and Google? Well, both of these things were just part of a much bigger deal.
Google has teamed up with Audi, General Motors, Hyundai and Honda to form the Open Automotive Alliance. With the help of chipmaker NVIDIA, the group aims to bring Google's Android operating system to the auto industry on a large scale. While the speed with which Android will be adopted by the industry remains unclear - the OAA's own press release says "timing for each automaker will vary" - we could see the first Android-equipped vehicle by year's end.
For those that keep their ear to the ground in the automotive tech world, this is a big deal for more than just one reason - Honda, GM and Hyundai are all partners in the Siri Eyes Free program from Apple. The future of that relationship now that three of its automakers are in bed with Apple's arch-rival, though, could be under threat.

2016 Honda HR-V First Drive [w/video]

Thu, Apr 30 2015

Compact crossovers are all the rage right now, and the 2016 Honda HR-V enters the marketplace at a crucial time. This class only had three or four entries just a year or two ago, and the number of players should double this year. That equates to an estimated 236,000 sales of B-segment CUVs in 2015, more than twice last year's sales, according to AutoPacific data. Honda joins a growing list of automakers looking to cash in on expanding sales. Fiat-Chrysler has its adorably Italian Fiat 500X and tiny-tough Jeep Renegade siblings. Chevy brought its small Trax to the US market from abroad. The Nissan Juke carries on with oddball styling and zippy dynamics. And the small-boxy class sales king Kia Soul could add all-wheel drive model to further increase its appeal. The HR-V doesn't break any new ground here. It starts with the Swiss Army Knife packaging of the Fit hatchback, then adds a more powerful engine, increased ground clearance, and all-wheel drive. It's nothing revolutionary, but that's not a bad thing. In typical Honda style, the beauty lies in the execution. What we have here is an attractive, compact crossover. It looks like a puffed-up Fit, or Honda Fat if you will. At 169.1 inches in length, the HR-V is more than a foot longer than the Fit (and almost nine inches shorter than the original CR-V). But with clean, taut lines that sculpt the body sides the HR-V is anything but bloated. We particularly like the integration of the rear door handles into the C-pillar. This thing is cute, especially with the rounded nose and chiseled rear end. And the chunky, five-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels we like so much are standard even on the base model. There are a couple of weird bits to the styling. Like the way the hood cutline spills over to the front quarter panel and the oversized, fang-shaped taillamps. But overall the HR-V looks great. It has more modern appeal than the Trax, and while the 500X and Renegade are more interesting to our eyes, the HR-V has plenty of pizzazz for folks afraid of flamboyance. That reserved charm carries on in the interior. Like the exterior, the cabin is a safe kind of stylish. Materials include a mix of fabrics and plastics on the doors, plus obligatory soft-touch surfaces abound because, you know, we're all in the habit of squeezing dashboards these days. The row of three vents in front of the passenger seat looks nice, and there's added storage underneath the center console.

Honda S660 set for Yokkaichi production next year

Tue, 06 May 2014

Roadsters, you might argue, are best when they're small and nimble. If you're thinking of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, you're on the right track, but there have been even smaller ones: pint-sized, three-cylinder roadsters like the Daihatsu Copen, Suzuki Cappuccino and Smart Roadster. But the most iconic and enduring of them was surely the Honda Beat.
Designed by Pininfarina, the Beat was - not unlike the F40 was for Enzo Ferrari - the last car approved for production by company founder Soichiro Honda. It complied with Japan's strict Kei car regulations and packed a tiny, naturally aspirated 656 cc that produced just 63 horsepower. The cult classic ended production in 1996, but six months ago Honda hinted at a revival with the presentation of the S660 concept at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Now it seems Honda - or Yachiyo, we should say - is gearing up to put it into production at the same factory that produced the Beat two decades ago.
That plant is the Yokkaichi factory, a facility owned by Yachiyo Industry Co., Ltd. that builds small cars on contract for Honda. It was slated for a major expansion a few years ago until Honda shifted some of its small car production to its own plant in Suzuka, but continues to build the N series of boxy, upright hatchbacks, as well as small commercial vehicles like the Life and Vamos lines. The reintroduction of a small roadster line to the factory's output sometime in 2015 will undoubtedly be a cause for celebration in Yokkaichi. For our part we can only hope that American Honda CEO Tetsuo Iwamura gets his way and manages to bring the S660 to the US in the near future.
