Here's the barn find you've been looking for! Well, not exactly, but really better. I bought this car not long ago locally from the 2nd owner who knew the original local owner and had to buy it off of him b/c he knew how well he took care of it. They'd been driving it locally so it's been staying in service but getting low miles. Has only 169k!(I'm still driving so it will move up some).  All stock except for recent radio change and I have all of that to go with the car(original equipment was hardly putting out sound anymore). Bought new radio with remote and all new speakers.  Interior is in great condition. It's been recently repainted because it was fading. Clean history. It's very hard to find a 1989 car that has not been in an accident, but it's been only adult driven it's whole life.  Original engine blew head gasket and then ran hot so it's been replaced with same level engine. Documentation on nearly everything that's been done to this thing as far as maintenance and repairs going back to the day it left the dealer's lot. Only 4 adults have ever driven this car, and it has not been dogged out.  You can tell the previous owners really cared for the car.  All interior trim there, console in good condition!! Most everything works, even the sunroof and a/c!!! Over $4000 has been spent on this car over the last year or so just keeping it in top shape. New CV axles, clutch, radiator, engine (have most of that paperwork too), that was gone through before it went in, etc etc. This car has been gone through, I could go on and on. You won't believe the detail previous owners left. Paperwork. Books. This is one of the very few si's left in the US in this type of condition. It's not perfect, but it's among the best you'll see that hasn't been messed with.

Only areas of opportunity that I can think of:
Could use some rear tires. One of the LF bushings squeaks loudly. When the car was repainted, there was a rust spot over the rear wheel that started to bubble and they worked on it, but it's coming back.  Also the driver side seat bolster has a worn place in it as typical, but the seats have been covered most of their lives, so they look good. The console is still in one piece but is getting fragile.  Those that know these cars are aware of the console braking in pieces and having tough times getting the controls to work.  There is a small crack near the temp control but it's still holding together. I've checked inside the console, the temp control knob has broken a plastic piece that holds the firewall cable that operates the heat mix.  I've gotten it back together but have to be careful.  I will gladly explain if interested about this. The rear bumper structure behind the skin is rusted, the screws that screw the tag into it are rusted and won't come out so I had to use other screws for the tag. Before the paint job, there was a very mild hailstorm and there are a very few dings...so small and few I never noticed them until the original owner pointed them out.

I've had a number of CRXs and have looked for years at them;  this one is one of those rare well-cared-for units.
I'm having a hard time choosing to sell it b/c I know sooner or later I'll kick myself for ever letting this one go. Just running out of room for vehicles, something's got to go and I have children...smallest car should probably go.  Do some checking and you'll see these cars in good condition normally go for $4-5-6-7-8K depending on various factors.  This car isn't collectible caliber I don't guess (I'm not a car collector or know but about that) but I've seen hundreds to several thousand in person or online and this one is in a condition that I've hardly seen in the last few years.  But please don't go by my judgement, as I know everyone has different standards.  Just look at the pics and judge yourself. The car's been in western NC it's entire life until the last short while that I've had it. Other than those two rust areas, the underside of the car has virtually no rust at all!  Not in the rocker panels either!

The pics:  sunroof works great!  I recently greased it's slides as a preventive maintenance just to keep everything sliding well.  The rear fender shots show the rust that has not come through the paint, but eventually will.  The interior center shot shows the new radio and condition of the console.  I tried to take some pics that shows the few tiny hail dings but they didn't show very much, which really shows they aren't noticed unless you search for them.  I think you can see the one in the roof shot with the sunroof closed.

Below is a partial list off the top of my head of what's been done to this car in the last few years:
-high quality paint job in factory color red paint
-new cv joints
-~40k J-spec engine from a reputable Honda engine importer in ATL.  We have the mileage on the car when the old engine was pulled, so you can figure an estimate of the mileage of the engine (around 50k now).  all maintenance stuff done when engine was put in...timing belt, gaskets, rear main seal and all seals, gaskets, thermostat, water pump, etc etc
-new clutch and trans fluid at time new engine installed
-new radiator
-new brakes
-new main fuel relay
-new master cylinder
-new radio and all speakers

things historically that are bad on these cars at this age are either already taken care of or are not in bad shape due to the easy life this car's had:
*even the sunroof works perfectly!
*the main fuel relay's been replaced!
*the hatch struts are good and hold it up!
*the hatch remote release works!
*the console is still in one piece!
*the a/c still works!
*all the interior trim pieces are still there!  and in good shape!
*even the original SI mats are there, and in great shape! (additional mats and seat covers used most of it's life)

Feel free to email me with any questions and I'll be glad to answer them.  If there's a certain picture you want me to take, I'll do that too.  The  car shipper won't have a hard time picking up the car, we'll make it easy for him to stop by the house to pick it up.

**Please keep in mind the miles may increase as I still drive it frequently.  I also have the right to remove this auction if someone picks the car up locally as I have it listed
***Please note the vehicle history report says odometer discrepancy, then it says the miles check out.  The miles are actual miles on the vehicle.  When i registered the vehicle, SC will not show actual miles on a vehicle title once the vehicle gets past a certain age, so they marked the title this way.  They told me that when I registered the car.  Of course I was not happy about it, knowing it would do this.  Nothing has been altered, as I checked the history and have a lot of records going all the way back on the life of this car.  Accident free.

Can Fernando Alonso win Indy? Here's why and why maybe not

Sat, May 27 2017

SPEEDWAY, IN – The month of May has been a joy ride for Fernando Alonso at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The two-time Formula 1 champion came to Indy having never turned left in a race car without also turning right. But he acquired such a feel for Indy's 2 1/2 -mile rectangle during a month of practice and qualifying that he's considered a strong contender to win the 101st Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, rookie or not. "You're not trying to bring somebody on who has very little experience driving very high-performance cars," said 2003 Indy 500 winner Gil deFerran, who this month has helped Alonso learn the nuances that make the speedway such a tough place to conquer. "I suppose it would be a little bit different if you were dealing with a younger, much less experienced person." Driving a McLaren Honda from the potent Andretti Autosport team, Alonso was consistently near the top of the speed charts in practice, he qualified fifth fastest at 231.300 mph, and he handled runs in heavy traffic like a driver who'd done it many times before. But those were the prelims. The race is another creature. "The car felt the best (it has) in the last two weeks. I was making some moves, taking some different lines. I am extremely happy." Other drivers say the speedway looks different on race day when the crowd, expected to top 300,000, fills the grandstands and makes an already narrow track seem even tighter. The three-wide rolling start is something Alonso has never experienced, and he will see the green flag from the middle of the second row between Takuma Sato and J.R. Hildebrand. And the space he'll be given by his competitors in the first 180 laps may disappear In the last 20 when it's every driver for themselves. Can a rookie like Alonso win this race? Absolutely, as Andretti driver Alexander Rossi showed last year when his team used a fuel-mileage strategy to win in his first taste of Indy. We're talking about Fernando Alonso here, who easily could show his rookie stripes to the rest of the field most of the day. His best lap in Friday's final practice, 226.608, was fifth fastest in the field and, more important, he said the car felt comfortable in heavy traffic. "The car felt the best (it has) in the last two weeks," Alonso said. "I was making some moves, taking some different lines.

Acura NSX production car headed for Detroit debut?

Tue, 23 Oct 2012

Auto Express is reporting that Honda is set to unveil the production version of its upcoming Acura NSX at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The news comes courtesy of an unnamed "top exec" for Honda Brazil speaking at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. The concept version of the Japanese supercar is currently on display there. Interestingly enough, the same unnamed source claims the production iteration will remain aesthetically identical to the show car. You won't hear any qualms from us on that front.
Of course, the timing of the production debut is a little confusing. For starters, when Acura unveiled the concept last year, the company told the world it would be at least three years before production began. That would give the street-worthy model a 2014 or 2015 designation, the latter being cited more often in media accounts. Thus, we'll keep an eye out for the hybrid supercar in Motown, but we're going to stop short of holding our breath... it might be a while.

Honda recalling 25k Odyssey minivans over side curtain airbags

Fri, 02 May 2014

Honda's refreshed 2014 Odyssey (now with 100-percent more vacuum power!) launched last year, but is now being called back for issues related to the side curtain airbags. According to Honda, 24,889 Odyssey minivans are affected by an issue that may cause the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) warning light to illuminate or, even worse, cause the side airbags to not deploy in a crash.
What went wrong, exactly? We'll let Honda explain:
During assembly of the electrical coupler for the side curtain airbag on the passenger's side of the vehicle, it is possible that the shorting terminal, which is used to prevent deployment of the airbag before it is assembled into the vehicle, may have been damaged. A damaged shorting terminal may illuminate the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) indicator as well as prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
